Today brings with it the long-awaited release of Ashanti‘s ‘Braveheart’ album.

Preceded by a slew of singles, all eyes are on how the set – the singer’s first independently – will fare.

So as to ensure it’s a positive charting, the Grammy winner stopped by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1, where she -naturally- was grilled about many a topic.

Discussed during the candid chat were Nelly, going the independent route, turning town six 360 deals, Murder Inc and a whole lot more.

Check out Ashanti in action below…

Interesting tidbits there regarding the 360 scenario. Here’s hoping the roll out for the project after this is handled much better. For us, that would mean signing with or at least partnering with a major label, but that’s a whole other story.

The disparage between her real life self and that album cover and those publicity photos are JARRING! Hang it up flatscreen gurl. It aint your time no more. I predict 10k first wk sales & that’s me being genereous.

She is so pretty. From the time I was a little girl I always thought Ashanti was beautiful. While looks are not everything, I never understood why Nelly didn’t marry her. I guess his cuddle time with Diddy was more important lol. Jk. Anyway, I can’t get to the album. As soon as I get off work I’m copping it. Routing for the underdog…

Her album isn’t even all that.

  7. ROSEGOLD March 4, 2014

I agree with @Molly but then again Ashanti always churns out pretty mediocre music. Her first album was her best, and even that is mediocre when I listen to it today. It was hot in middle school, though lol.

The artist who taught Rihanna how to sing…

    😆

@Rosegold the only songs i like on that album is scars and runaway the rest are very lackluster i think her last album was pretty decent compared to this mess idk Ashanti has some good songs but her discography as a whole isn’t that strong.

Ci Error stans coming for Ashanti sales is so comical. Ashanti struggling eras sh*ts on The t***** last 3 eras.

  12. ROSEGOLD March 4, 2014

@Molly Keyshia is going through it in her marriage so I’m sure she’s working on some heat. I hate to say it, but she makes the best music when she’s hurt… 🙁 Let me go take a listen. Thanks!

Well as I can see it, her promo has been the same as b****** on mayors, so if she comes anywhere close to those other R&B girls sales, she won imo. The album is boring, but she never had great albums, good songs, but never albums as a whole.

Ashanti will be fine, cause unlike most of y’all faves, she can actually write.

  16. Lovebird March 4, 2014

I totally forgot her album is out, why didn’t my pre-order automatically download that? Hmmmm iTunes need to step their game up.

Wow, I really like Ashanti’s personality. She’s very sweet! I respect her hustle, I hope this album does well for her.

  18. Rob March 4, 2014

I will be buying the album today. Ashanti has been through so much and still so positive. I respect her and enjoy her music. I Got It is pure fire, song and video.

I thought I was the only person who couldn’t get into a whole Ashanti album. She was the type of artist who made great singles but her albums were mediocre to me and if your gonna build your success around that you can’t take 2-3 yr breaks in between albums like she did.

  20. kareem March 4, 2014

I love her and i supported her

Everyone loves to be shady. But this girl is STILL making music and doing what she loves. What do ya’ll do, besides struggle?

  22. Myron March 4, 2014

Going to get her album tonight when I get out of school.

But Ashanti, honey. You DID commit career s******. Maybe if you took a 360 deal in 2008, more than 40 people WW would be checking. How are you gonna complain about a 360 when NOBODY was checking for you and now less than zero people are buying your music? Those returns baby. I’d rather get 5% of the 40 million I made for a label than get 90% of a couple thousand you’re getting by yourself. I honestly don’t know how Ashanti is making money. I loved Concrete Rose so much and was rooting for Ashanti. That s*** is a decade ago!!!! Ashanti the time has passed! Cerror, Ashanti, and Kelly Rowland need to just let it go at this point I’m sorry. SNS SMH
