Jennifer Hudson has a knack for keeping busy.

With her third studio album all but finished, the singer-actress spent much of last week in London previewing the Pharrell Williams produced set to select press.

This week, however saw Jennifer jet into New York to perform at the Pinoy Relief Concert.

Hosted at Madison Square Garden, the event saw a myriad of major names perform in support of the victims of typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines.

Watch below as Hudson serves up a rousing rendition of Whitney Houston‘s classic ‘Saving All My Love For You’, as well the song that blast her star into the stratosphere – ‘And I Am Telling You’.

Powerfully potent performance.

While Whitney’s renditions of “Whitney” songs will likely remain an untouchable benchmark, J.Hud certainly delivered an interpretation few of her own contemporaries could rival.

What’s more, her showings of ‘And I Am Telling You’ continue to be stunning.

Bring on that album already!

Tribute after Tribute after Tribute? Duh, This girl got nothing else to do. She looks odd with that body. I like her old look and soul

Girl please! You are not Whitney, just move on. Oh right the problem is her voice is for church and nothing else. She won´t ever have a successful album by her own, they have given her enough opportunities.
It´s unbelievable how Sam and his team have only nice words for all these girls like J. Hudson, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, etc no matter how many constant flops they have while he shows such level of hate when it comes to Mariah Carey, just cos her single is not working… after 25 years in the business and being 44 years old? WHAT? What has she done to you? You loved the song, if anything admit you haven´t got a clue and your wannabe journalist ass can´t predict any damn thing. You said it was great song and a gem, and that typical expression of yours “what the doctor ordered”, and look what´s happening. You have no idea but you are always trying to give advice? Hilarious.

  8. Peachsoda22 March 12, 2014

I like Jennifer Hudson, fat is not healthy it will kill you and make you hate people who are not fat. It will also cause you to be delusional and mistake fat for “curves” when really your fat is over lapping your body because it has not where else to go.

Keep singing Jennifer Hudson, singing and making your money girl.

There are artists who tour(madonna, paul mc carteny,U2)artists who make albums and tours(Beyonce, taylor, pink) artist who try to make albums but mostly make singles compilation(rihanna, katy) artist who make singles(kesha, florida, jason derulo…)artist who are dangeroulsly falling in the irrelevanceness (gaga,mariah,jlo..) artist who make tributes(JHud..) and artists who just simply and basically flop(ciara, keri, kesha, ashanti)

  10. BEYAWNCE March 12, 2014

and also artist who obviously CANT SING (Katy HO Perry)

  11. Clarksonator March 12, 2014

Another day, another Jennifer tribute. Nothing to see here folks!

  12. pat March 12, 2014

not a fan of hers..but from her generation…only her and fantasia can entertain an audience like that with only their voice and a mic

  13. Stephy Tha Lambily March 12, 2014

She needs to become an Gospel artist! Her voice is NOT for mainstream. Her voice is too powerful for radio. All she does is tributs but never have any hits or classic moments of her own.

Also, her version of Saving All My Love For You was terrible compared to Miss Houston. Whitney’s tone is was unmatched & she sung with conviction. Jennifer just screams & shouts which turns people off. Anyways…

  14. Sarah March 12, 2014

why is everyone always so NEGATIVE god damn! Let her do what she is doing..whether its a tribute or not..i swear you black american people cant get the respect you deserve…you always tear down each other

  15. Little Johnny March 12, 2014

Well damn Jen!! All I can say is WOW and Bravo!!!

There is nothing wrong with giving homage to those before you. I actually appreciate a cover. Etta, Aretha, Patti, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Barbara, Nina, Sade, Toni, and more are the BEST vocalists of all time. They DESERVE 100% to have their song covered. Whether it’s Ariana singing Emotions or Beyoncé covering The Way We Were (Barbara Streisand for those who don’t know) it’s amazing to hear a cover, but you have to have a career.

I like her. I promise I do. I own both of her records. However, J. Hud is more known for tributes, than singing her own tiny discography. I can’t stand Clive Davis at all. Ever since 2009, he and record companies has trying to be kill off legends and replace them with the new breed Satan worshippers. I’m so sick of his sick agenda. Clive I hope you see this: YOU will NEVER be able to replace Whitney especially with a yeller with absolutely NO control. In fact, you won’t be able to replace any of these artists,, because no matter how easy my generarion can score a hit, they will have NO IMPACT at all on future generations with their untalented asses. I digress though, bc I can’t at truly delusional my generation is. She looks great though; good thing her staples are still in tack. (NO shade, but we know she didn’t lose that weight naturally; it’s another industry secret)

  17. IStanForYourFav March 12, 2014

To make sure I’m not negative, she did cover the song with justice. Kudos to Jennifer.

  18. Little Johnny March 12, 2014

@ Stephy why should she she become a gospel artist? Is it because mainstream singers have become so watered down and below average that when you hear someone with a genuine skill for singing it shocks the hell out of you? There was a time that most of the singers blogged about on this site would be run off the stage by a mainstream singer like Aretha, Whitney, Kelly Price and so on. Now y’all call an average singer a great singer and a person that really can’t sing, some will argue that they can.

  19. Little Johnny March 12, 2014

@ JohnDuval exactly how is she a flop? She has sold over 1.3 million albums with only 2 released. She has an Oscar and a Grammy to go towards aesthetics. Amongst several other accomplishments under her belt. While there are some artists who have achieved more, I think sometimes you fanatics forget that you are arguing the achievements of Beyonce, Rihanna an so on which has little to do with you.It makes you look quite delusional in the fact that it seems you believe that if your favorite artist has achieved it, so have you. It’s kinda like getting in an argument with someone and then saying, “oh but my friend is cuter than you even though Im not” lol. Why don’t you tell us how many albums you have sold and then we will see if you are fit to call her or anyone else a flop. Beyonce has room to argue, but do you?

  20. Sarah March 12, 2014

Well said @Little Johnnie…its becoming so OLD…i’m so over it

  21. I stan for myself March 12, 2014

Her voice just doesn’t do it for me #Sorry

  22. ABC March 12, 2014

Her voice is so ugly compared to the flawless Whitney Houston! WH didn’t scream every f****** note.

  23. a gal March 12, 2014

always giving tribute to someone…I didn’t realize that could be a career. she may have something here!

  24. DD March 12, 2014

So very, very loud with no emotion to rein in or justify all the belting! Whitney she is not.

  25. Metzo March 13, 2014

I used to love her, now she gets on my nerves. So boring. Always the same tributes. Like does she not have a career, other things to do than sing other people’s shyt? Ughh. Next
P.s, if people think she’s a good vocalist, you must be dumb. All she does is scream with her annoying ass voice.

  26. Kris April 3, 2014

People kill me…You can say what you want about Jennifer, but you cant say she is not talented. Academy Award, Grammy, and a host of other awards that your faves will never have. So kill ya self and stop hatin. Black people know we can tear each other down.
