After sinking her teeth into 2003’s ‘Freddy Vs Jason’, Kelly Rowland sets her sights on a leading Hollywood role this year, doing so before the release of her hotly anticipated new album!
Sharing her big screen sized ambitions during a recent interview with ‘Billboard‘, the ‘Simply Deep’ singer stressed her interest in playing a character far removed from herself, no doubt hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow singer/actresses Jennifer Lopez, Jill Scott and her old pal, Beyonce.

The star explained:
“I’ve had meeting with directors…I’m actually ready to take on a role, and like really sink my teeth into it, and I would love a role that really pushes me to where it’s something completely different off, to where I have to transform.”

They really are running out of ideas. I learned in my psychology and communication classes that the movie industry recycles the same plots about every 5 years and if you look closely, it’s true. Also, the film industry has a habit of making unnecessary sequels to films just to generate revenue. Classic money over Art scheme.
So she’s bored of playing Beyonce’s understudy?
Nothing wrong with keeping yourself working but focus on one project at a time. You want a successful #1 album then focus on creating one and promoting it, you want to do a movie then finish promoting your album then venture into that. Kelly just doesn’t know how to prioritize herself. Granted when Matthew was her manager we never saw or heard anything out of her and I feel she’s making up for lost time but focus on one thing at a time.
The only time black women can win Oscars is when they’re playing monsters, broken women or slaves so good luck to you Kelly.

The fact that Kelly has a reputation for being lazy is so funny to me. I guess it was easy to ride the coattails of DC for so long. She has a lot of work to do though if this is the battle she is fighting. Making people believe she actually wants it.
I think Kelly is a good actress. Definitely room to grow. I enjoyed her in Freddy vs. Jason + The Seat Filler and she seems good on television as well. I’m supportive!

The film is called “The Album”. It’s about a girl who gets caught up in the promotion of her new project. I hear it’s going to be a REALLY challenging role for Kelly.
I saw when she was talking to Extra TV with AJ..she said she wants to play Donna Summer…I hope that comes to life!! Kelly will MURDER that role!!!!!
