Still? Mariah Carey Continues Work On Album Due “Next Month”

Mariah Carey‘s new album may no longer be called ‘The Art Of Letting Go’, yet doing just that seems to be proving a difficult task for the diva.

For, despite being due on May 6th (a date we remain skeptical of), the LP is still being worked on – as revealed by Mimi herself on Instagram moments ago and over the course of this week.

The shot above was posted today with the caption “Prepping tracks for mixing”, while other snaps shared included a studio session with rapper Fabolous.

******

Granted we’re all for Mimi’s hustle, which appears to see her still recording tracks in search of a hit, it begs the question of whether the album will actually see the light of day next month. Deadlines are real and, for ‘major” releases such as this, are meant to be a significant amount of time before the project hits stores.

In any case, we remain amped to see what Mimi’s been cooking up. As evidenced by her ‘Emancipation’ era, “new” Mariah seems to deliver her best when the odds are stacked against her. That said, that aforementioned album came out nine years ago. Will it be a case of history repeating itself for the better or is Ms. Carey’s time as a contemporary chart-topper a wrap? Hopefully, it’s the former. Still, time will tell.

Take a listen to ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)’ below. It could do with the streams.

You’d think being in the game for 24 years that she could pull a Beyoncé. I know I said that once, but I’m gonna keep saying it! Lol

it will be pushed back, but come on MC. You’re old end to drop an album that no one will remember nor care to buy.

    • Realest April 5, 2014

Puh-ressed… About Mariah and (as ALWAYS) about beyonce.

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

You’re always so pressed. The struggle for you to leave one positive comment…
You’re acting like Rihanna could “pull a Beyonce” (whatever that is). Can janet “pull a Beyonce” (again..whatever that is)?

      • Mark111 April 5, 2014

        Oh look two bites.

Pull a Beyoncé as in just drop the album out of nowhere. Even Janet could release a hit and sell more than MC today.

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

I really don’t wanna argue but you sound foolish especially since Discipline sold less than memoirs and E=MC2. Nothing against Janet but you’re sounding delusional. Just leave Mariah alone and carry on with your day…

    • Jordan April 5, 2014

      Respect Legends!

  3. eric April 5, 2014

They’re not ready to give us a new date yet, but I’m guessing they’re looking at September.

  4. Realest April 5, 2014

Why are you so pressed about it.!? I mean pancake, flap jack pressed.!! She will release it when she feels it’s ready. She is an artist who’s is perfecting her “masterpiece” and you’re just a messy gossip blog who dramatizes small NOTHINGS to get hits. You see the difference in how you make your money and you’re “craft” and the way she makes her money and her “craft”? Mariah can do what she wants she’s a vet and with 13 other albums I don’t think she’s hard pressed to just put out a new album. I mean besides Rihanna who HAS to release every year, most these girls will never see 14 albums so just chill the f*** out and the a PROFESSIONAL do her thing.!!!! You British Kuntz are so late!!!

    • Rudy April 5, 2014

Preach!!!!! Oh and that n**** British?!

    • JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

LMAO Yaaasss say it! I can´t understand why they stalk her every move and then act as if she is doing strange things?

  5. OrangeJuiceInstead April 5, 2014

Mariah can’t take as long as she likes. I don’t mind the wait. HOWEVER If she makes us wait all this time just for Emancipation 3.0 (E=mc2 was the 2.0) I’ll be really very disappointed.

I’m ready for a new side of mariah that we’ve never seen before. She’s been a mother for a bit now, I think she should find inspiration from those twins she’s been blessed with.

    Anyway, Good luck Mimi!

    • Realest April 5, 2014

      Agreed

  6. Dossome April 5, 2014

So recording more music means searching for a hit????Ignorance i tell you..Mariah’s known for recording til the last minute and maybe she’s recording remixes,we don’t know. What we know is whatever product she puts out when she finally releases the album will be something she’s satisfied with. She’s a RECORDING ARTIST for goodness sakes, let her do her thing and stop being so pressed

  7. Stephy April 5, 2014

    Oh Mariah…

  8. Stephy April 5, 2014

Sam & his team are so childish & stupid.

This is Mariah’s 14th studio album. She can take all the time she wants.

  9. Slay_Hive April 5, 2014

BYE!!!kii Still searching for that hit! Old insecure b****! Take notes from Queen Celine. Showing these old h*** how it’s done!!!!!

    • Rudy April 5, 2014

Celine flopped though……Yall will say anything to make someone look bad!

      • Slay_Hive April 5, 2014

Celine is selling to her demographic though. Something Mariah should try. No one is waiting on a new Mariah Carey album but her geriatric fans.

      • JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

Celine didn´t flop. She did what expected. She sold more albums in the UK from Loved me Back to Life in 2013 than Katy Perry, Milye Cyrus and Lady Gaga´s new albums from that year. That says it all. Not bad if you ask me. She debuted in the uSA with the numbers everybody else is doing nowadays when not having a hit single. And obviously she slayed in Canada, like she did with her last French album in 2012, both in Canada and France.
Not bad for not even caring and promoting only for a month and then returning to Vegas with her family.

    • JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

Celine is a queen… and Mariah is too.

    • Realest April 5, 2014

      You’re so pressed.

      • slay_hive April 5, 2014

Pressed over Mariah? kii No boo. Never. Just don’t like her fans and will never hesitate to speak my mind. 😉

    • Jordan April 5, 2014

Beyoncé will be a has been someday too lol just as long as she keeps breathing. Not even her selling her soul t the devil can save her from that fate. And 44 is not old and if that’s old than I feel sorry fore you because it looks like your life will be very short.

  10. Rosie April 5, 2014

It’s pretty obvious that she’s really desperate to get a hit before releasing this album. She should’ve released it when #Beautiful is doing good, it was a decent sized hit and she would’ve sold over 100K at least i she went ahead and stuck to the July release date. But no, she had to keep pushing it back and You’re Mine bombed. She really need to just go ahead and stick to this date. I don’t see how poor album sales would hurt her at this point.

    • Rudy April 5, 2014

@Rosie, u sound pressed sugar. Don’t worry it will eventually be released and you can run and purchase it like the dedicated MC fan u are. Bye!

  11. Skyfall April 5, 2014

Mariah had already solidified her selling power and legendary status

Mariah Carey sold more than any female artist in the 1990’s, selling over 150 million albums and singles worldwide (115M albums + ~ over 35M singles). That’s over a quarter of a million records sold every week during the 90’s!
Mariah Carey is the best selling female artist of the Soundscan era (US sales since 1991).
Mariah Carey is the only female artist to have 8 albums sell 5 million (5x Platinum) or more in the US.
Mariah Carey is the only female artist to have 9 consecutive albums sell 3 million (3x Platinum) or more in the US.
Mariah Carey is the fastest selling female artist in the US of all time, selling over 63 million albums in the US in 16 years.
Mariah is one of three women (Madonna and Barbra Striesand are the others) to sell in excess of 60 million albums in the US.

Mariah Carey is the best selling (non Japanese) artist of all time in Japan, selling over 17 million albums. She’s sold more than twice as much as any other non-Japanese female artist (Madonna, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston are in order the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th best selling non-Japanese female artists in Japan).

Mariah Carey is the only (non-Japanese) artist to sell 1 million copies of an album in a single week, with ‘#1’s’

Mariah Carey is one of the two (non-Korean) women (Whitney Houston is the other) to have a million seller in Korea, with ‘Music Box’

Mariah Carey is one of six women (Madonna, Shania Twain, Delta Goodrem, Alanis Morissette and P!nk are the others) to have an album sell in excess of 700,000 copies in Australia (10x Platinum).
Music Box’ is the best selling studio album by a R&B female artist of all time.
Music Box’ was the best selling album of 1994 in Australia.
Music Box’ is one of the two (non-Dutch) female albums (Celine Dion’s Falling Into You is the other) to sell in excess of 600,000 copies (6x Platinum) in the Netherlands.

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

I didn’t read all of that but I know it SLAYS regardless. PREAAACH B*****!

      • Scoop April 5, 2014

Don’t forget to mention that mariah was in an era that didn’t really have all that much piracy. The industry is so much different now. But please, carry on.

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

They know that. Sales are the only thing they can use now-a-days to discredit younger artist. Not realizing how desperate and idiotic it makes them sound.

  12. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

These fools are ALWAYS trying to cling to Celine like her ass didn’t flop too. Loved me back to life (single and album)? Incredible? Lol bye.

Let Mariah do her thing. I agree with Dossome. Recording =/= searching for a hit. She wants to put out a great album.

    • JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

They always try that. It´s truly desperate. They can´t do it using their faves so they use one of the other BIG ones. They wish their faves would have Whitney´s, Mariah´s Celine´s or Madonna´s careers.

  13. WE FOUND RIHANNA. April 5, 2014

    FLOP!! NEXT!!!!!

  14. Iconic Cici April 5, 2014

    Shes so desperate.

  15. Skyfall April 5, 2014

    Mariah Carey has sold
15+ million alums in the US since 2000
30+ million albums in the WW since 2000, ten years after her debut

    Beyonce has sold
15+ million since 2002 in the US
    35+ million since 2002 WW

So the has been Mariah has only sold 5 million albums less than Beyonce ( not including greatest hits, live, remix or compilation albums)

    • iamanthony April 5, 2014

      Beyonce’s solo career didn’t begin until 2003.

Mariah has only sold 9 Million albums in the U.S. since the 2000’s. You are inflating, and your ww album sales for Mariah are false as well. smh

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

Actually… Mariah has sold about 11.3 million albums in the US since the 2000s. You need to stop deflating. Smh

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

        Charmbracelet- US: 1,166,000
        The Emancipation of Mimi- 6,000,000
        E=MC2 -1,289,000
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel-US: 546,000

How does that total to 11 Million? Why not clock skyfall for it’s obvious inflation? lol

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

I’m a Mariah fan and I will defend her.

        Glitter – 657,000
        Greatest Hits – 1,167,000
        Charmbracelet – 1,116,000
        E=MC2 – 1,300,000
        Emancipation – 6,000,000
        Memoirs – 550,000
        Merry Christmas 2 you – 532,000

        Total = 11,322,000

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

+ I’m pretty sure that SKYFALL is right about that 15 million number if you factor in additional sales from her 90s albums and her iconic Christmas album which sells extremely well every November/December.

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

So it took 7 albums with basic sales? Now you won’t to count in crossover sales from the previous decade? lmfao Why don’t I just add DC’s 2000 albums as well. smh.

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

        *want

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

Oh so you’re a Beyonce fan? Lol that is interesting. Mariah wasn’t in her prime in the 2000s and 11.3 million with 7 albums is impressive for her since Rihanna only sold 10 million with 7 albums in her prime..

SCREAMING @ basic sales. B***** you really tried it! 6,000,000 with one album is something that Beyonce has never done and will never. + Memoirs is her only studio album to not go platinum. You can’t add DC sales to Beyonce’s because they ARE NOT Beyonce sales. We have been over this issue 100 times on this site. That’s why Neilsen has Beyonce at 15 million album because DC sales aren’t her sales.

        Smh

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

Yes these sales are basic. The 2000’s is Beyonce’s decade. Mariah was also 30 in the 2000’s and flopped. Beyonce is 32 now and outselling younger pop artists. That excuse null and void.
Album sales in the industry have declined severely since the early 2000’s and late 90’s. DIL is only a few thousand from 5 Million in the U.S. Truth is Beyonce has been outselling Mariah since her solo debut. The same with Rihanna. Both having more albums.
DC sales are counted separately, but they still belong to Beyonce. If not her then who eles? lmao so delusional.

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

No B*****! You’re clearly delusional. Album sales did not decrease in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s because Britney, ButcherTina, N’Sync, Justin Timberlake and even Usher did huge numbers. DIL sales are basic. How has Beyonce been outselling Mariah since her solo debut? Wasn’t Dangerously released in 2003? TEOM came in 2005 and Slayed TF out of it in he US and worldwide + Mariah was like 13 years older than Bey. Lol. B’Day came and still couldn’t outsell TEOM. Beyonce started to outsell Mariah in 2008 but don’t lie and say “since her solo debut”

Again.. These sales aren’t basic. Glitter was just a soundtrack and still peaked in the top ten and smashed in Japan with sales of 600k+. Greatest hits was a compilation album and still went platinum despite the fact that she only released her first compilation album two years prior. You know nothing about the queen so stop talking. I will agree that Charambracelet flopped but compared to albums released by Janet and Whitney at the time… It did well. + it went platinum with zero hits and after the media crucified her for Glitter movie. Her sales are not basic. Beyonce’s sales are majorly basic with all the hype she gets. bye

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

Not Justin Timberlake… My bad. Ignore typos.

      • iamanthony April 5, 2014

You typing that college entry essay won’t change the truth. Beyonce’s 2000’s album sales>>> Mariah’s. You can only cling to TEOM because it was her only hugely successful album of that decade. Beyonce’s sales are what sales look like in the current industry. You’re acting as if Beyonce was an artist in the 90’s. When she is not. smh
I can’t at you bringing up JT, Britney and the rest of the white t*** pop stars who sold more during that era. Where are their careers now? Atleast at 32 years old Beyonce is outselling her younger contemporaries. Mariah let britney and Christina destroy her. lmfaoooo

        Longevity/Quality OVER Sales!

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

Britney and Christina NEVER destroyed Mariah. STAWWWP! Britney slayed careers but ButcherTina had one successful album. Please sit. And don’t be talking about longevity navies Mariah most definitely had longevity. For you to say otherwise is completely delusional and you know it. Mariah was still getting #1 albums, #1 singles, and top ten singles 19 years as solo female artist.

Death @ “college entry” essay. Now you just sound pressed. We are discussing Beyonce/Mariah not me.

I’m sorry but Beyonce’s 2000s sales were basic. DIL only selling 4.9 million in 2003 is an epic struggle.

you’re acting as if Beyonce was an artist in the 90s

Well, DC (the GROUP you Beyonce Stans love to cling to) was out in the 90s and their sales were still basic so… Point?

As long as Beyonce Stans are clinging to DC sales from the 90s, I’ll be holding on to Mariah’s 90s sales and TEOM. It only seems fair.

Please don’t reply. I don’t want to continue this dumb convo.

      • JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

        @iamantony
        Are you retarded?
The point is that Beyonce´s album sales in the 00s are not especially bigger than Mariah´s album sales in the 00s. They are but not THAT much, this is in Beyonce´s prime and Mariah´s second decade in the business. Imagine if we add 90s Mariah!!! LMAO The difference is to big hun. You don´t wanna know. And btw, albums sales kept growing and growing until 2000 or so. Sales in the early 90s were not bigger than sales around 2000-2003, when Destinys Child were already out and Beyonce was debuting, and Britney was having her huge undeserving sales and all that. So save the excuses. Of course sales are so low now in 2014 compared to 2000, but Beyonce´s album sales should be bigger if she is this iconic genious you guys think she is.

  16. Theman April 5, 2014

If someone is mixing something, then clearly that means that they are about done with the project.. Sam u should know that..

  17. iamanthony April 5, 2014

With Mariah’s 2000 sales you have the nerve to call Beyonce’s sales basic? lmao I can’t!

    • Jordan April 5, 2014

LOL Mariah is a has been and I’m a lamb and can admit it. But, mark my words Beyoncé will be one someday too not even her worshiping Satan can save her from that fate. Remember the higher the divas get the further they fall and if Beyoncé has a flop I highly doubt she would have the resilience Mariahhad with TEOM.

  18. Mark111 April 5, 2014

I can’t at the Roaches trying to chop MC’S career and sales
in half to justify Beyonce Knowles’ p*** poor sales. Face it, when it comes to sales and ##1, he’ll even hits, MC wins. No matter how you try to switch, shift or twist it.

    Bow Down B******.

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) April 5, 2014

Thanks. Although I still think you’re pressed.

    • iamanthony April 5, 2014

You as a Rihanna fan have no right to comment on sales being basic. Especially with your fav having almost the same amount of #1 singles. Just shows how pressed the Hive has you. One minute you’re dragging Mariah and now you’re helping her. lol

    • ashley April 5, 2014

Once again, you prove why you’re called dumb. The Hive was replying in response to SkyFall’s comment. He/She is the one that compared 2000’s Mariah to 2000’s Beyonce. Which is only right. Beyonce was not a solo artist in the early 90’s. Therefore Mariah’s ancient sales and bulk albums shouldn’t be compared to Beyonce’s. Either way both are more respected than Rihanna will ever be, No matter how many #1’s and fashion awards she has. lmfao

      • Mark111 April 5, 2014

As a Rihanna fan I can say whatever the f*** I want, lol. I don’t Stan for non of these b******, I give MY opinion, just like everyone else. You bugs think Beyoncé is THE greatest thing ever, when she’s not. It’s even a challenge to put her against Rihanna, yet you call her a lesser, YET you have to nerve to compare B***** to the mime that flip flops with Madonna as the highest selling female artist of all time?! Sit down b******.

The Hive try so hard to make Beyonce look like a queen. You reach when it comes to TLC with made up DC stats, you make s*** up when it comes to Alicia Keys even though her and Beyonce are neck and neck and now (some how) you guys are chopping MC’S career in half to make Beyonce look like she’s winning? Ha! You roaches does it with Britney Spears as well and have the excuses out the ass when it comes to Adele and Taylor Swift. No you’re the ones who are dumb.

That’s like saying “well in the 2000s Usher sold more than MJ. So Usher is the King.”

        Here’s a seat ——> _/

      • slay_hive April 5, 2014

YAS Ashley you better get that b**** together! kii People claim they don’t stan for anyone but damn near have a heart attack because of the Hives opinions/Facts. When ALL fan bases do the same thing! The navy and other stan bases are guilty of inflation and deflation. The navy being the main culprits. kii I can’t

Deep down inside they know Beyonce is the most respected and talented of this generation and they can’t take it.

Here’s seats for ALL of you! _/_/_/_/_/_/_/

    • Lolz April 5, 2014

And yet you were the first to bring Beyonce into it to discredit Mariah anyway. Death.

  19. Navy Commander April 5, 2014

Ill give it a listen, youre mine has grown on me

  20. JOHNVIDAL April 5, 2014

I can´t wait! Mariah looks great.
I think she loves creating in the studio so much that now that she hasn´t got the pressure she had early in her career as a new artist, she just can´t help it but not stop writing. But we want the album girl LOL The injure has played a big pasrt too. She still covers her hand most of the time, and I´m sure she can´t exercise like before.

  21. Toto April 5, 2014

Looking forward to her new album. Whenever it comes out.

    • Ayub Ahmed April 5, 2014

I’m lookin forward as well ,and I wish u all would stop da Stan wars .dis is my 1st time to reply & I like them all mariah ,etc there doing there thang peace

  22. Skyfall April 5, 2014

Mariah still has selling power as well, when Ariana Grande song The Way came out on radio everyone (who didn’t know who she was of course) thought it was Mariah Carey, and most people went to purchase with the thought of Mariah in mind. The single sold on the fact that it sounded like Mariah and then the hype around her being the “new” Mariah after the hype did so did her sales no other song peaked in the top 10 or top 20 and her album is struggling for gold and has already fallen of the BBHOT 100 even Tamar is still on there. Mariah would of been platinum by now

  23. MC!!! April 5, 2014

leave mariah alone!!! every artist wants their album to be perfect!!! but its cute how tgj is still following every move on mariah!! 44 and still as relevant as lady gaga beyonce rihanna etc not even in the same generation as them!!! GO MIMI!!

  24. Yeah I Said It April 5, 2014

I read on Daily Mail this albums been in the makin for 4 years. Before her kids were born. If this isn’t A++++ i’ll ctfu

  25. Danny LeGuen April 5, 2014

Not sure what Mariah needs to prove to anyone.

    Her legend is already established.

  26. Jordan April 5, 2014

Okay if Mariah’s time is up as a contemporary chart slayer fine. But what I find so funny is that regardless if this album flops she has sold more than any other woman mentioned on this site. If she never gets another number one hit again she still has more number ones than any other female on this site. These Beyoncé fans and although I am a lamb I loooooooooooooooove Beyoncé. She’s the s*** and nobody does it like she does and she is slaying bottom line. However, the hive needs to show respect because technically Beyoncé is still trying to get to where Mariah is. What I mean by that is Beyoncé is not at a point that she has nothing to prove and regardless she’s a legend, but fact Beyoncé is not a legend she’s an icon. Mariah’s a legend meaning she can make music for her own personal enjoyment. She even said she doesn’t care about charts and sales anymore she’s been there and done that. And as far as the other chicks(Rihanna,Katy, Lady Gagas) you fans are so lame thinking is cute and slaying because they got a top ten hit or a number one hit. But, it’s like this Mariah rules billboard she has not only broken records but set them has been or not. And my thing since these girls are such hot s*** why haven’t they beat any of her records? Why?they could never

  27. Jordan April 5, 2014

And by the way I’m about to throw jabs real hard right now and as far as Mariah being a has been I can give yawl that. But, you know what Hive Beyoncé will become a has been to someday not even her worshiping Satan can save her from that Fate.

  28. she needs some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz April 6, 2014

she looks so tired after this album Mariah just hang it up your catalogue speaks for itself

  29. MelyB April 7, 2014

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 9 years since EOM debuted. That album was so organic and seemed like Mariah, the other writers & producers went ALL IN to produce great music, not chase hits. I fear that Mariah is afraid that the album will under-perform so is trying to craft songs that will appeal to the masses rather than doing songs that showcase her artistry. Mariah has nothing to prove to me, I just want to hear some more new music from her.

  30. Nothing to prove April 9, 2014

You all sound pathetic. Not once in the comments did I hear how you all personally enjoy Beyone/Rihanna/Mariah’s music. rather bitching and griping about sales like you work in the music industry or buy stock in thier record sales. Did it ever occur to you that Mariah is crafting an album for the lambs and perhaps not so focused on sales at this point in her legendary career? When I buy her new album, I will be excited for the new music, not once thinking about “I wonder if this album will flop.”
