For, after rising to mainstream notoriety in 2011, this year brought with it the release of her debut album ‘The New Classic’, which has set a record set to make her the envy of chart-eyeing female rappers everywhere!

Despite pulling in unfortunate sales of 54,559 units in its first week, ‘Classic’ has sold enough copies to become the highest-charting/selling debut from a female rapper in the last two years, outperforming efforts made by Angel Haze‘s ‘Dirty Gold‘ and the first week numbers pulled in by Eve‘s ‘Lip Lock.‘
Indeed, despite failing to match the 375,000 units sold by Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Pink Friday’ debut in 2010, Iggy‘s current position at #3 on the ‘Billboard 200′ makes her the only femcee to enjoy a Top 3 position since ‘Friday’ spat its way to #2 in its opening week.
Quite interestingly, sales of 45,000 units pushed the aforementioned LP to #1 in its eleventh week of release, doing so after it sold 1,035,000 copies in the US in its opening month with the support of lead single ‘Your Love’, which peaked at #14 on the ‘Hot 100′…seven spots lower than the peak enjoyed by Iggy‘s ‘Fancy.’
Elsewhere, Future‘s ‘Honest’ opens with 48,791 units while Disney‘s ‘Frozen’ soundtrack stays atop the chart with 110,089 units moved in the last week, despite suffering a sales dip of 58%.

54k is a solid debut all things considered. That album suffered push backs, label issues and lack of strong promo. The lead single didn’t take off until 2 weeks before the album release. Seeing how Problem is #1 and Fancy is #2 on iTunes, I think the album will have legs.

That info is false. That’s the number from hits daily double estimates. The real numbers from Soundscan has Iggy at selling 52K and Future selling 53k. The top 5 this week is Frozen , Future, Iggy Azalea, Pharrell and August Alsina. In that order.

Hits daily double are just estimates. The real numbers come from Soundscan. Last week hits daily double put August Alsina numbers at 63k. But the real numbers from Soundscan were 67k. Only trust Soundscan. They have the reàl numbers and not estimates.

August Alsina has a way better album than any of them. No matter how many hot singles a artist might have. People will mainly support quality music. If you put out a great product, it will sell. They’re more known than he is, but he has better music. All the reviews has been positive on the album, so has word of mouth.

One thing people have to realize, is that established more known artist will always do bigger numbers (unless they’re not in limelight anymore). The only way a new artist, do big numbers, is if they’re buzz is big or if they’re on a extremely popular label that’s hot at the moment. In the case with Nicki and Drake, they did big numbers cause they was on YMCMB label, which was the hottest label at that time. They was riding off of Lil Wayne name. Artist like Jay Z and Beyoncé, have loads of fans that build over a decade. They’re extremely popular. So they’re going to sell.
