It’s that time of year again!
The BET Awards 2014 are set to air live from the Nokia Theater at L.A Live on Sunday June 29th.
Naturally, all eyes are on who’ll be up for nominations at Urban music’s biggest calendar night.
Well, wonder no more. For, the nominees list has been revealed – with power couple Beyonce and Jay Z leading along with Hip-Hop titan Drake. The trio are each up for five awards apiece. Newcomer August Alsina and hitmker Pharrell Williams follow with four.

The category is technically called R&B/Pop artist.
But its not best album, it’s best artist. And Rihanna had bigger hits, solo and features than Ciara and Nowhereland. I do agree that Ciara should be nom, but not over Rihanna. Pour It Up and Loveee Song both were huge hits last year, bigger than Body Party.
Ermm Ghetto Michelle’s album sold more then Kelly and Ciara’s though. VSOP was one of the best R&B songs released last year.

Ciara’s lack of of noms surprised (and upset) me for a bit but then I realized that maybe’s she’s to blame. She didn’t push her material enough, I guess. That’s sad because that album was fire. Everything about the BET Awards just seems political these days. Bey’s multiple noms are actually justified now, lol. She had no business getting any noms last year. However, she SLAYED with BEYONCE and deserves to win at least half of her nominations. @Metzo is so right. The last time the BET Awards REALLY made sense were from 2006 – 2008. I remember Bey’s performance of Deja Vu in ’06 that I honestly feel is one of her best televised performances. Ciara gave a memorable showing in ’07 with Like a Boy and That’s Right (mama tore that stage up) and Bey also gave us Get Me Bodied. 2008 was also great and gave us Usher’s comeback in addition to Chris Brown and Ciara’s performance of Take You Down #iconic.
Congrats to Jhene Aiko though. Good to see her gaining some recognition. I call Pharrell for best R&B/Pop. Best collabo should go to Blurred Lines. I would like Cole to win Best Hip-Hop male but Kendrick might take it home. Iggy might carry Best Female Hip Hop. Video of the Year should be Worst Behaviour. Oh and serious props to CB for getting nominated for Best Director. That young man is troubled but you CANNOT deny his talent. Be it *singing, dancing, performing, writing and now directing music videos. All in all congrats to everyone but I can’t wait for them to announce the performances.
I hope jhene wins the centric awards and Zendaya wins the young stars awards. I’m pretty sure rihanna won’t win her category, but that’s fine .
