The X Factor UK charges back onto the box this Summer and promises to be quite the “must-see”.

In looking to ensure that’s more than editorial rhetoric, the show’s producers have refreshed the judges panel – welcoming back creator Simon Cowell and Pop force Cheryl Cole (following their initial departure in 2010). Completing the 2014 line-up is Scary Spice Mel B, who replaces Nicole Scherzinger, and sole original Louis Walsh.

Though set to start airing in August, the ITV1 show saw its first filmed auditions take place today in Manchester – hence the first photo opp for the new panel.

Looking good. Here’s hoping their critiques pack an equally enticing punch. Because, there exists ample irony in the fact (yes, fact), that the two “singers” on the panel struggle with the first four letters of that very word. We do love Mel, though. Who doesn’t?!

Your thoughts?

There’s a reason X factor produces way more hits than the voice. Absolute death at people thinking that it only takes a good voice to succeed in the industry. And death at cheryl having more number 1s than most of these other girls.

Can’t wait to watch it on August. Mel B was brilliant in the Australian version. She’s gonna be a beast this year with Simon, Cheryl and Louis. Hope she mentors Girls category – girl power all the way!
