Controversial rapper Azealia Banks appears to have been given the break she’s been longing for.
For, after a series of album delays, soured collaborations, and twisted Twitter infamy, it looks like femcee’s label are ready to cut their losses and release her from their roster.
Should be “bad”, right?
Perhaps. For most artists. After all, Banks’ label Interscope are one of the most successful major label entities in the world.
However, recent months have seen the rapper vent her frustrations with her predicament – which most (regardless of their stance on her) would describe as “unfulfilled potential”.
Now, some two years after breakout hit ‘212’ rocked the industry, the sharp-tongued New Yorker took to Twitter today to declare her independence.

On the one hand, the immediately positive aspect of the announcement lay in the fact that we’ll likely be hearing new material in an “official” capacity versus the countless mixtapes. And if indeed she is now “indie”, it means there’ll be less corporate hands tampering with the end product.
Still, Banks has an uphill struggle ahead of her in whipping up the buzz she had back in 2012. Folk love to shade the suits and those that operate the major label machine, yet there’s no denying the amount of power they wield. The “brand” of power Banks will need to jump-start her movement again. Yes, she has a dedicated niche audience that have kept hope alive as she’s worked the festival circuit over the last few years. Yet, unless she can conjure up the hype that saw as a legitimate threat to heavy-hitters such as Nicki Minaj (and also tame her tongue), her narrative may end up remaining one defined by “unfilled potential” – major label or not.
We’ll be watching to see how this plays out.

It’s a very complicated issue. Both sides H**** and the Israel government are in the wrong but I find it difficult to find a compromise to the situation. The Palestinian people should be given a proper country from which to self rule, however, the methods H**** are using are beyond stupid and only damage their case. Sending rocket artillery strikes on Israel will not solve anything. You have to be very stupid to think that a country as powerful as Israel will be defeated by an army that is tiny and ill-equipped in comparison. Israel though should be making more efforts to bring peace and the country as a whole should become much more empathetic to the palestinian’s. The counter-attack against H**** though is somewhat justifiable but will do little to aid the situation and set back peace talks years. I can see no resolution to the issue for a very long time.
