Is serial hit maker that is Rihanna one of three acts being eyed to perform at the 2015 Superbowl Halftime Show?
Fortunately for her ever loyal fan base, the answer to that question is…yes. Yes, she is.
Confused? Excited?
All will be explained below…
Months before the release of her eighth studio album, Rihanna’s camp received news from the event’s organisers, notifying them that the star was one of three artists to be considered to rock next year’s show, set to take place two years after Beyonce‘s scorching showing.
The Wall Street Journal revealed:
The NFL has narrowed down the list of potential performers for the 2015 Super Bowl to three candidates: Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Coldplay, these people said. While notifying the artists’ camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.
Exciting!
With the star usually opting to release LPs in the month of November for ‘Black Friday’ related reasons, here’s hoping Roc does everything in its power to secure the spot for Rihanna and release her next LP on the night of the performance.
For let’s be real, the success of Beyonce‘s ‘Beyonce’ would gone some way to make Camp Fenty sweat buckets once they realised they’ve been tasked with rolling out a campaign for an album whose sales will be mocked by the masses should it fail to do what a Rihanna LP should do 9 years into her career.
So, what better way is there to guarantee the strongest opening numbers of the singer’s career by tying its release to a performance that will- for better or worse- be viewed by millions.
Is she up to the challenge?
