Viacom enlists Rap royal Nicki Minaj to aid in its ‘VMA‘ promo efforts this month, calling on the star to shoot a number of ads launched to build momentum for the award show before it airs live on MTV!
How she fares in these commercials? Pretty well, showcasing her humorous side “Dave Skylark’s Very Special VMA Special” alongside Iggy Azalea, and teasing her performance at the ceremony in a 21 second piece billed ‘Nicki Minaj Wants Her TV.’
Why these couldn’t have come at a better time for the lyricist? Her new single ‘Anaconda‘, which has helped score yet another chart record before the release of its supporting music video!

Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” drops 1-2 in its second week, selling 141,000 (down 39 percent).
Minaj makes a second appearance in the top three, as her new solo single, “Anaconda,” bows at No. 3 with 141,000. She is the first lead act to have two concurrent songs in the top three of the chart since the Sept. 22, 2012 list.
