Over the course of her 22 year career, Mary J. Blige has firmly established herself as an international superstar.

It’s fitting, then, that the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul is prepping a new album christened ‘The London Sessions’.

Due in stores later this year, the concept project was recorded in the UK’s capital Spring through Summer and was pieced together primarily by British producers (although US hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins is helping oversee the set).

The first taste of the album surfaced moments ago in the form of the Disclosure produced ‘Right Now’.

Take a listen below…

Mary J. Blige is backkk!!! It was about time she reinvented her self and music and I did write her off but this new sound will get her back to the relevance masses. I can’t wait for “The London Sessions” album to drop November 25th!

this one reminds me extremely of Sonique’s sound and vocals.

    • God September 5, 2014

Not a valid comparison. This is R&B meets House music. Sonique sounds like pure EDM.

      • SayNoToHoe September 6, 2014

Sonique’s sound is not pure EDM, ok? Go listen to her 2000’s ‘Hear My Cry’ album.

I’m gonna come up with a theory… And I’m almost 100% sure this is gonna happen… This ‘I’m going to the UK/London’ thing is going to slowly become something ALOT of Americans are gonna start doing… Theres alot of UK artists in America right now, and they get to release that real quality music, not about looks, s** & big bootys, but music itself thats credible, and creative, and vocally strong… I mean I love the U.S, but Nicki Minaj’s new song, that seems to be the big thing over there right now, lets be honest, is not credible in the slightest. And then ppl like J.Lo is following the trend and coming up with another big booty inspired song, like one wasn’t enough… the Pop culture over in the States is an absolute mess… Ariana even, very talented, good album, but its soooo obvious, the selling s** thing is so awkward for her, and she seems to be doing it, and I really don’t think she actually WANTS to do it, its just thats what works over in the U.S atm, and thats a shame… I think Mary just looked at the music scene here, and realised, its a thriving business, you make money AND you actually get to make music that you actually want to make!, the more creative, the better… and thats what every artist should be aspiring to achieve… and all in honesty, I think the U.S mainstream scene is only going to get worse, the talent level of hit records in the U.S is super low, its actually surreal that songs like Anaconda can do so well over there, when it was home to some of the most talented people on the planet. P.S No hate to the U.S in general, America and Britain are brother and sister, but talking truth, the U.S music scene has turned terrible guys.

But plenty ppl sell s** and don’t do well the issue is there are only 3 artists who dominate everything versus labels distributing money fairly they do payola to get their artists heard and the public is blindly deceived

100% Agree with everything you’ve stated, I would like to add that the edm culture that has swept the US, technically began in the UK. I remember awful acts like the cheeky girls and vengaboys… just to name a few (Thank God, lol)but now, in the UK, there seems to be new and exciting genres of music circulating. So if you ask me, the US can keep the cheesy edm songs. Lucky for me I have the internet to find great music, instead of terrible ones shoved down my throat.

In regards to Mary J. Blige, I think her soulful voice is fitting and complements tracks such as these… In the past she’s made songs with UK artists such as Disclosure, U2 and George Michael and they all charted well. So she definitely has a market in the UK.

Beyonce needs to do something reinventive like this because the ratchet BS and the loose gay bottom anthems are getting old.

    • UGH September 5, 2014

      LMAO

    • FrenchConnection September 6, 2014

      “the loose gay bottom anthems”

      shiiiiiiiiiit I’m dying … and I’m a B fan.

This b**** still trying with those struggle vocals… O.K. I wish you well MJB. I haven’t listened to a full record with enjoyment from it since I was 6 years old with the Share My World album playing. She’s mega overrated as a “vocalist” and her live vocals are terrible. She may have the “own the stage presence” but her flat, off key, and strained limited vocal ability says other wise about her being Queen. Whatever though. I hope this sells more than 8k so she can pay the IRS back.

    • FAF September 6, 2014

She’s gotten much better over the years

    • Fxck September 6, 2014

      she can’t sing, actually.

  10. MY EVERYTHING September 6, 2014
