Aha thats why AKA by JLO flopped … RnB is over

  3. Hur September 12, 2014

The album is so boring! she’s not that talented either. and her live performances? child!

  4. Stephy. September 12, 2014

Scores these days aren’t nothing. They give almost every damn album great scores. BYE. Also, she is pretty & cute music is mediocore. But, those LIVE vocals… Chile…

    • Lolz September 12, 2014

Um no they don’t actually. It very rare you see an album with universal acclaim. Metacritic isn’t based off one critic anyway.

    • Jhené Aiko Stan September 12, 2014

No, most albums score within the 50-70 range.

    • Cupid September 12, 2014

EXCUSE ME! Beyonce is extremely talented but if anyone’s music is mediocre it’s hers! Let’s be honest. Jhene gives you something to think about and not just your average clichè RnB bubble gum music.

Congrats to her the album is fantastic.

  6. Lolz September 12, 2014

The last time I saw this score (from a pop or R&B act anyway) was way back in Dec 13. When she-who-must-not-be-named came to snatch and scalp.

No surprise here! That album is amazing from start to finish! I would love a visual for “Eternal Sunshine”.

  8. Now You Wrong September 12, 2014

That’s great!! Album isn’t the most exciting due to the monotone of her voice but I’ll give it a listen, heard a few songs. & Beyoncé scored a 91 to the person who said Jhene got the same score. Congrats to both for getting that critical acclaim few have been searching for cough Rihanna

Beyoncé did NOT score a 91. It was 91 before all reviews came in. The metacritic score is a cumulative score based on all reviews by critics. The final score for BEYONCE is 85.

I absolutely LOVE the album! It’s atmospheric, moody & kinda dark….right up my alley. If you like your music overproduced, covered with a lot of gloss & sheen, this album is not for you.

I do think it’s a bit too early to post her metacritic score though. All of the scores haven’t been posted, so the score can still change at this point.

    Regardless, great album. 😀

Loved the album from start to finish and i loved the fact that unlike her EP she didn’t drown the album with features. i’m a bit disappointed shes doing only 70k but i think the music industry is going to need a HUGE reninvention if they want album sales to get to at least how they were in 2005-2010.

    • Brian310 September 12, 2014

They are going to have to go completely digital and due away with CDs, I mean I think it’s about that time to move on from that era. It’ll take a year or 2 for people to get adjusted like they did moving from tapes to CDs but i think that could help the industry with sales….I’m hoping she cracks 100k.

  12. LB September 12, 2014

Yes I love the album, it is absolutely great and so I’m not surprised it has a high metascore.

Great album from start to finish . Bonjour from Paris!!!!!!!

      BEWARE OF THE FRENCH STDS

I agree with all the reviews! Souled Out is everything I wanted from Jhené and more! For anyone who claims her music sounds the same, listen to her EP and the album without your preconceived ideas and you’ll hear the difference. Souled Out shows growth as a lyricist and an overall artist as Jhené experimented with different sounds. Souled Out is the best R&B album of the year so far. I expect to see some Grammy noms. And I think Souled Out will do more then 70,000 opening week. Lacrea(spelled wrong) was predicted to debut higher with 70-75k but since that prediction was announced, Jhené replaced him on iTunes. Even so, 70k is standard for well established acts like Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and others. For Jhené to do that with no where near as much promo and no hits is an incredible feat and shows she has a strong fan following. Congrats to Jhené!!

  15. UGH September 12, 2014

70k is great in today’s R&B market. I personally LOVE the album. When I heard the intro I thought Stranger PT II, then I listened to the entire album and I get a Moody, yet happier version of her EPs. I’m really hoping she can at least go gold with record. The ONLY issue is she can’t sing live.

  16. ENOUGH ONIKA September 12, 2014

THIS Is what its about, QUALITY not QUANTITY (take note navy). This album is amazing. Not everyone came be Beyonce though and give both quality AND quantity. But like Jhene, I’d take quality over overhyped trash like most of Rihanna’s discography…….

I actually like her studio sounds not really a fan of her live “whispers”
