Out with the old, in with the new.

Usher is ditching the rule book with his approach to the release of his new album.

Originally scheduled for release this quarter, the singer dramatically scrapped the roll-out and is instead heading out on a new tour, ‘The UR Experience’.

The R&B star stopped by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 today to plug the trek and readily opened about why he’s doing things his own way. Namely, his plan to continue recording the LP while on the road and steadily introducing new songs on tour.

Mr Raymond also dished on The Voice, his upcoming role as Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming Roberto Duran biopic, and more.

Peep the interview below…

Just face it usher your a old corny hasbeen

    • IJS October 6, 2014

No he’s not he just need to make an album like “Confession” and stop trying to make lil pop Hits. There’s still ppl out here that love REAL R&B Music!

  2. Lana Del Bae October 6, 2014

Usher needs to accept that the problem is with him. Most of the albums that slayed this years had moderately big singles so what he is talking about? He’s trying to find an excuse for his own flopping but the fact remains that he’s not doing well because he hasn’t got any direction and people can tell.

    • Mark111 October 6, 2014

Albums thay slayed? How when no 2014 album passed the million sold mark? He just need a solid album, his downfall was focused on top 40 hits his last two eras.

  3. Princess Derulo October 6, 2014

Delusion upon delusion! If Ciara can get a top 30 you shouldn’t have any trouble doing any better Usher. Like on the freaking real, why can’t these celebs just own the fact that nobody cares about them anymore. Your dance moves are stale, you only care about a sound when everyone else is doing it, and you’re out here trying to compete with Chris when you should be looking and learning from Justin Timberfake.

    • SuchAGoodKisser305 October 6, 2014

Jason couldn’t sell albums if his MAC concealer depended on it so save your advice.

  4. Me>>>you October 6, 2014

Usher I think it’s time for you to understand that you are a has been and that’s the think. But if he releases a really catchy song that can slay on the charts maybe he will come back.

  5. Bobby Shmurda stan October 6, 2014

Usher doesn’t matter to this generation and his fans have grown up

    • Fairy J Blige October 6, 2014

Not true. If age had anything to do with it Celine would be the biggest flop of all. Usher hasn’t grown up with his fans and that’s why he’s flopping. He’s too immature and because he doesn’t have a clear sense of who he wants to be he trend hops on whatever’s hot and that puts everyone off of him.
His best bet is to start this entire era from scratch.

  6. Beysus October 6, 2014

You should’ve just released the album like Bey…

  7. CherylSoldierr October 6, 2014

No ones checking for usher but mark111

    • Mark111 October 6, 2014

That’s because these q***** are trend hoppers amd only like who’s hot or selling. I’m a fan, rather it’s huge or not. You don’t be on top for 20 years and become washed up, one thay word is over used. Two washed up would be a Gaga, a Ciara, Backstreet Boys, artist that blew up and crashed before the 5 year mark. You name a R&B artist that is still here today that started out in the 90s. MJB, MC and Usher are the only ones and you MAY throw Beyoncé in there, even tho she was with DC.

    • CherylSoldier October 6, 2014

      Troll^.

  8. Mark111 October 6, 2014

Usher need to just make a great album vs getting a hit. Focusing on a hit was his downfall and why he had so manu EDM singles. So take your time. 20 years in the game, you can tour without a new album, you have something these new artist don’t, a catalog of hits and classics.

  9. christinastherealtalent October 6, 2014

Wendy Williams said it perfectly. Those struggling for musical success these days aren’t selling because their core fan base is all grown up and have mortgages and rent to pay and can’t afford to see them in concert or buy their album.

    • Mark111 October 6, 2014

But these new artist aren’t selling. Music isn’t selling period. Now with tours, that’s a lie cause these old rock bands are always on top grossing tours. Usher touring problem is that he brought nothing new to the stages in 5 years. All his award shows performances were all the same from 2009.

    • eh October 6, 2014

No. Usher alienated his fan base by chasing hits, that’s the bottom line. Beyonce still has her core fan base, which is why she has no problems moving albums. Even without having a huge hit on pop radio in years, she still sells more albums and concerts tickets than most of her peers.

    • CzarM October 6, 2014

Crock of s***. How much is a CD? $10. How much is a single? $1.29. How exactly does a mortgage conflict with that? No one’s money is that short. Everyone who bought My Way, 8701 and Confessions probably goes to the store every day and spends more money on petty snacks than the cost of Usher’s new music. The truth is that Usher lost his audience. Some of them simply outgrew him, while others have just haven’t liked his output enough to bother. I haven’t bought an Usher CD in 10 years. Not because I can’t afford it, but because that was the last time his music compelled me to spend money on it. Usher jumped the shark, sold out, has become unorganized and is basically wack now. I’m not interested. When he puts out something worth buying I’ll buy it. Until then, I’ll use that same money to buy a bag of chips and will enjoy it more than I do his current music.

      • Eric October 6, 2014

        @CzarM. Well said!!

      • Wayne world October 6, 2014

It’s called keeping up with the times b****

    • JuJu October 7, 2014

Which new artist is selling though?

    • Trigga October 6, 2014

Ush and Sisho started the same damn time and now Usher is a pop icon and legend. Now bye

      • Ursha October 6, 2014

Usher is way more interesting cuz he’s inspired chris, jason, and justin. No r&b artist looks up to shitsqo

  10. eh October 6, 2014

Lmfao @ him really thinking he could sell out an arena world tour without new music or any current hits. Ush really has no idea what his position is in music right now. Only Beyonce is doing that right now, granted she still has her core fan base, and these kids of today love her.
He needs to regroup. If he’s not going to give something progressive, then he should focus on one lane; you either with the people who been here for you since day one, or you tryna appease the pop lane. All that straddling both sides aint gonna work.

    • Yo October 6, 2014

If the kids didn’t love usher he wouldn’t be performing at award shows, scholastic program for reading and kids inaugural ball.

      • lol October 7, 2014

well, them singles are flopping. he hasn’t scanned platinum in years, Looking4Myself didn’t even go gold. they clearly don’t love him that much.

  11. no October 6, 2014

So he wants go on tour and keep recording, then release while still on tour… Mrs Carter tease. Them tickets aint selling though.

  12. James227 October 6, 2014

The years are going by very fast. You are going to see a lot of well known artist just like Usher. People will stop listening to their music. It will be the new jacks turn.

  13. Trish October 6, 2014

Ushers selling point has always been his body/looks and dance moves. Young girls these days have Chris Brown, August Alsina etc. he needs a more mature/progressive look and sound.

  14. JuJu October 7, 2014

Self praise is not attractive… *sigh* buhh anyway,we (might) be buying.
