All week Azealia Banks has been earning rave reviews for her debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ , which arrived by surprise last Friday.

Yet, the rapper isn’t resting on her laurels as there’s clearly work to do.

Having hit retail with only two days worth of sales to count, the LP is on course to shift 12,000 copies first week Stateside.

And while context is important to stress in any debate about the project’s performance, it’s become immediately apparent that if it’s to succeed it will be a slow burner.

Hoping to light a match under it, Banks has unveiled the video for its latest single ‘Chasing Time’. Check it out below…

    SLAY

  5. Mark111 November 13, 2014

Ok one she’s really pretty. Two this song is the jam, I didn’t know she could sing. Three every 90a, but not forced and I even like the Naruto hint. I can’t do her rapping (because I’m too basic I guess) but I’m buying this single right NOW.

    • Michael November 13, 2014

  6. Barbie’s World November 13, 2014

    Wigs were snatched, She slayed!

  7. Vanity November 13, 2014

Sounds like something you would have heard in in the mid 90’s. not impressed with the song since i was here during that era but that video could compete with 90’s Madonna or gaga.

  13. LB November 13, 2014

    She served, snatched and slayed.

Broke with poor credit is slaying my entire life, love chasing time and I cannot wait for Ice Princess to snatch by bald by my nerve endings, yasssssssss.

Broke with an eviction notice is one of the best rap albums, by a female artist after the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. AZEALIA BANKS is a genius who knew what she wanted and she delivered; she didn’t wait for the delivery man to deliver pre-written rhymes in the mail, nope, she went in the studio and did something Nicki, Missy, Igor, [insert female rapper lessor] here can never do, delivered ART.

    Real ARTRAP right here.

    • Nicki is queen November 13, 2014

Nicki a lessor? Don’t reach boo!

      • MisdamenorFan November 13, 2014

You don’t know when you are being trolled? LOL. Someone that debuts at #30 aint slaying anyone. Personally AB should have tossed that BWET titled and started again.

Trust me I was a Nicki fan waay before “Knock-Out” and even “Itty Bitty Piggie”. I know of Nickis talent and education experience in art school. But let’s get one thing straight, she’s had allot of help along the way- and although she can spit and write her own raps, she sampled most of her freestyle and mixtape audio. Azealia has been playing tug of w/ record companies since she was 18, written all her lyrics, composed every instrument on the tract (which is why allot of her audio sounds somewhat similar) and orchestrated her own videos from her debut “1991”. I’m not saying one is better than the other, but there is no room to compare the two and they’ve had their own struggles.

I’m over female rapper comparisons- all of you get over yourselves, or better yet- kill yourself >_>

  14. Hexxx November 13, 2014

    I love it.
In some scenes she reminded me of Left Eye.

  15. Kandi Kuntz November 13, 2014

Slay! it looks like a tribute to past female rappers. the baggy suits her and the men were in Missy Elliot’= “I cant stand the rain. that nipple tassel look=lil kim. the style in the ball scene reminds me of Lauren Kill. and of course left eye.

  16. A&R November 13, 2014

I actually like this. This girl has talent and is unique. If she could keep quiet and let her music speak she could so some major things.

  17. Realest November 13, 2014

Things that come to mind when I hear Ms.Banks music: “A Night at the Roxbury”, B.A.P.S., Mariah Carey’s “dave morales house remixes”, La Bouj “Be My lover”, Ace of Base, New York ballroom scene, Crystal Waters, old school RuPaul & drag queens/transexuals, flamboyant gay guys.

Things that DON”T come to mind when I hear miss banks music: rap, hip hop.

Although I think she does have talent her music is just like this trance, early 90’s club music which is ok, but not very impressive or something I would listen to more than once or twice.

I completely agree, but let’s remember the origins of hip-hop and rap, when most people rap they are mistaking the sub-category “gangster rap”. And considering all the Ebonic bulls**t I hear on the radio today- she is extremely refreshing. Maybe you should listen to 17, 212, or even 1991, they seem to have more of that “rap” vibe; but don’t get me wrong I completely understand your point, she’s like a reincarnated Harlem ClubKid, tracts like Counting Contessa, Van Vougue, and The House are very La Bouche esque. But those are songs that I could listen to over and over again, I guess it’s all about what floats your boat.

  18. LB November 13, 2014

Currently listening to Whitney Houston’s catalog, I’m feeling a certain type of way.

There’s a boy I like y’all, how do I get him to notice me? White guys are complicated.

    • Chef Leonis November 15, 2014

Ha! You should listen to Licorice ^_^ Azealia talks about the struggle =P

  19. Dem Lessors November 13, 2014

My favourite song on the album. She’s giving me a cross between Aaliyah and Left Eye in this video. She’s actually a really good vocalists too. Could’ve made it just as a singer unlike Uggly who tried and failed then scrapped the barrel talking her basic rhymes to then fail again. The only thing I don’t like is all the devil sh.t, the whole pop star joining the illuminati is getting old.

  20. nicki minaj November 13, 2014

nice azealia banks i just like how nicki and her went to the same school for acting thou and look at them now thats just crazy

  21. Cake like Lady GaGa November 13, 2014

LOL at all these trolls coming out of the woodworks. Its probably @LooseBottom, creating 9855285821 accounts to praise Azalea’s music to make us think its any good. I’m not fooled, I haven’t heard the album, but I know it sucks!!

    • WhoAmI November 13, 2014

How can you possibly know the album sucks if you haven’t listened to it, you total f****** moron.

    • Chef Leonis November 15, 2014

That’s by far the most ignorant BS I’ve heard all year

  22. let’s be real November 13, 2014

    the album is solid!
it’s sad this chick is actually TALENTED unlike Iggy, in a rap battle she’d murder Iggy. it’s this chicks attitude holding her down.

  23. doubline47 November 13, 2014

Everything she does just gives me life! S*** black beautiful shorty

  24. #TeamTinashe Stan “Aquarius” Now In Stores November 13, 2014

Nobody say AALIYAH because the part where she is wearing the baggy clothing with the long wristband is ALL Janet Jackson. Great video, she is back!

  25. MisdamenorFan November 13, 2014

I listened to the cd, she could have been much bigger if it weren’t for her nasty social media tirades.

  26. old school November 13, 2014

I like the fact that she paid homage to TLC/Left Eye, to Missy, & to LiL Kim in her video.

  27. How Many Drinks November 13, 2014

Yess she did that. True talent.

  28. DanYiel Teflon November 13, 2014

Haven’t heard of her until now I’ll take a listen…

    • Chef Leonis November 15, 2014

Please do, I’ll give you a good list of my favorites- 212, 1991, Van Vougue, Licorice, Luxury, Counting Contessa, The House, and you have to be a weirdo like me to favor ATM Jam feat. Pharrel. I know her music is a little off putting at first, but trust me- looking at lyric videos helps. I discovered her 3yrs ago- the same time that I discovered Iggy Azalea. I remember petty fights on chat forums like such about whom was better. I’m definitely a bigger fan of Banks now- but their music shouldn’t even be compared, it’s like fire and ice.
