Lady GaGa continues to defy the odds.
Despite being written off by some sects, the Pop diva’s success narrative received another chapter this week.
For, her latest album ‘Cheek To Cheek’ (with Tony Bennet) has hit a shiny new milestone.

Per Soundscan, the Jazz LP – which was released in September last year – sold 30,000 copies in the US this past week, bringing its total Stateside sales to 515,000.
The feat sees the project land at Gold status (RIAA certification pending).
It’s an impressive achievement for GaGa, who can now boast of having all of her albums reach (at least) Gold on home soil. What’s more, the landmark sees ‘Cheek’ become one of just 31 records to sell over 500,000 copies in America in 2014.
Nominated for a Grammy for the set, GaGa and Bennett are currently on a sold-out tour to promote the record which recently also benefitted from a major campaign with H&M.

I’m surprised Katy Perry was the one to take her out. Britney’s last album was great and performed better regards to being radio friendly and fun. Madonna gave a blow with her reductive comment but it was Katy’s simple fun song that knocked her from ever reaching that #1. Her fans can say all they want but in the end, she is at a decline. Numbers don’t lie. Well in her case she try’s so hard to hype her one Grammy nomination..which is sad.

She’s hardly getting any sales via streaming. I believe on YouTube total views for Cheek to Cheek videos are around 12-14 million, and not all of them are from America. Also none of the songs are in her top 10 on Spotify. So maybe 25-50k of the sales are from streaming, and that’s a very high estimate.
Gaga is a fad at most, she is like Ciara, Ashanti, Paula Abdul and Sean Paul, one minute they are hot, the next they are not. It happens every now and then in the industry.

Second, UV has made almost every year-end list and is the tenth most mentioned album on such lists for 2014 according to Metacritic.
