New Song: Usher – ‘Still Got It (ft. Migos)’

Published: Thursday 1st Jan 2015 by Sam

“So you think I fell off”

Usher chants the lyrics above in newly surfaced song ‘I Still Got It’.

Needless to say, it’s clear the singer has been staying abreast of the latest chitter-chatter surrounding his position in the music industry.

Featuring rapper Migos, the cut sees the Grammy winner directly address the critique – much of which has hit his career following the scrapping delay of album ‘UR’ after a string of pre-release singles under-performed.

And while the 35-year-old continues to diligently work on the project, he uses this track (which will feature on upcoming Digital Trapstars mixtape, ‘Screens On Lock: 4th Quarter Press’) to air his feelings.

Take a listen below…

By no means a terrible track, we feel the word employable here is…unnecessary.

Yes, the song keeps Usher’s name in the mix musically, but does it advance his cause or better yet that of his album? We vote “no”.

He’s of a status that doesn’t require throw-away buzz cuts. Given that his singles have been tanking like lead balloons of late (factually speaking), his best bet would be to simply come swinging with an A* track and back it with Triple A promo and the rest, in theory, should work out accordingly.

Again, not bad…just…somewhat…pointless.

    2015 this is not cute.

It’s no hope for Usher.. He needs to sit all the way down in 2015. Looks like he’s yet again chasing trends. The EDM movement has died, and he refuses to go back to straight R&B because of sales. So what now he wants to be Drake or Kendrick now because they are the only urban male artists going platinum at this moment.

Usher leave the stage, not now but right damn now, this is not working out.

It’s nice, but what happened to ‘I Don’t Mind?’ Why would he do a collabo with Migos – a bunch of chain-wearing fagggy flops who won’t be remembered by the end of the year? Is he on a tight budget? Oh dear…

2 seconds into the song, I was like “WHY WHY WHY?” (Mariah voice) Why even acknowledge what people say and downgrade your talent by working and sounding like the migos? Usher we need you to STOP chasing trends! 😐

Surprisingly, I agree with TGJ. Nevertheless, Usher is still my one of my angels. I’ve loved him since I was a little girl. He really needs to put an album out that is just as amazing as him. Unfortunately, I just don’t know what it should sound like at this moment, and it appears that he doesn’t either. 🙁

Usher needs his Emancipation Of Mimi real quick lol…I don’t know how he could have such a great catalog of songs like My Way, You Make Me Wanna, Lovers & Friends, U Got It Bad, etc, and think this is what his core fans want to hear…the last Usher album I bought was Confessions….yep, and I have his first three too…that’s the Usher I stan for… *plays The Many Ways* 😉

He WOULD make a song with Migos. Who’s next, Young Thug? He’s such a trend chaser.

He needs to take notes from Beyonce on how to evolve and adapt to the sound
