Chart Check: Rihanna Threatens Mariah Carey & Janet Jackson Singles’ Record As New Song Soars Into Top 10

While Sam seethes, it becomes evident yet again that the Rihanna reign simply will not let up.

For, after the Bajan beauty delivered a critically acclaimed vocal showing of her Paul McCartney & Kanye West-assisted hit ‘FourFiveSeconds’ at the 2015 Grammy Awards, she joined Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith as having the week’s top sales gains as a result of the showing.

Blasting right into the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 not even a month after the tune’s release, Ri’s latest traipse into the chart’s upper rankings not only sees her threaten another slew of legendary Hot 100 stats, but also sees her three steps away from adding her name to history books for another singles’ accomplishment.

Get the full Hot 100 chart check below:

As if zooming to #1 spot on the ‘Hot R&B/Hip-Hop’ charts wasn’t enough, Ri/Ye/Paul find themselves inhabiting the #6 spot on the Hot 100.  Notching the songstress her 26th top 10 entry, ‘FourFiveSeconds’ puts her one step closer to the singles’ record of R&B/pop legends Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson, who lead the pack of female artists of color with 27 and 28 top 10 hits respectively.

Already surpassing Whitney Houston and Jackson’s #1’s tally, if Ri, 26, notches just three more titles in the chart’s upper dectet of tunes she will enter history books with the most top 10 singles of any female artist of color and will be second only – in line of females overall –  to Madonna‘s historic 38 listings (which is almost the most of any artist in history).

Elsewhere on charts, Bruno Mars’ swinging ‘Uptown Funk’ tune keeps its tight grip on the #1 spot and, as of today, sees Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ as its only real threat of dethronement.  While Ri and co. may change that soon, check out the Hot 100 as it is for the week:

Billboard Hot 100

1.  Bruno Mars – ‘Uptown Funk’

2.  Ed Sheeran – ‘Thinking Out Loud’

3.  Hozier – ‘Take Me to Church’

4.  Maroon 5 – ‘Sugar’

5.  Taylor Swift – ‘Blank Space’

6.  Rihanna, Paul McCartney, Kanye West – ‘FourFiveSeconds’

7.  Meghan Trainor – ‘Lips Are Moving’

8.  Sam Smith – ‘I’m Not the Only One’

9.  Ellie Goulding – ‘Love Me Like You Do’

10.  Taylor Swift – ‘Shake It Off’

    Late!!

The fleas said this would flop.It is holding on strong for something that is considered boring folk. This week should be interesting.

    • Um No February 11, 2015

But get into how Rashad got Sam out of here

      • hives scared of R8 February 11, 2015

Sam got dragged!!! The navy didnt have too kiii I loved how Rashad clocked him for trolling on his own website!! 🙂

    • Edna February 11, 2015

B****, I’m BeyHive member and I bought the single! I actually love the song… It’s refreshing. Why don’t you just STFU and let Rihanna and stop bringing irrelevant people in the conversation. You’re an annoying who I doubt even bought the single big making the loudest noise. Sit your clown ass down.

      • hives scared of R8 February 11, 2015

Are you mad? Did I struck a nerve? If you supported the song, fine, this comment wasnt meant for you.

I stan hard for Rihanna bought the single twice on itunes, google play and Amazon.

      • Lobe February 12, 2015

Why is it necessary for you to buy two singles? Granted, it’s your money and $1.29 ain’t s***… but the real reason you’re doing it is to compete. There shouldn’t be a competition…

      • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

I enjoy watching the haters seethe!!! 🙂

    • Arfa February 12, 2015

Every one knew it would do good this chart week(grammys/video)! Come at me with next week’s number’s “that’s when we will see who really gives a f u c k about this song”

      • RihHive February 12, 2015

Really? It will rise next week. It may be the top digital song for the week and has been increasing steadily in airplay and streaming. Next week wont be a good week for Rihanna haters either. Sorry, Not Sorry

    • You tried February 12, 2015

Her Critically acclaimed performance???? Where did that happen!? No shade but all I heard about the GRAMMYS Kanye Beck and of course Beyonce! No shade but social media (including this sit) Blogs NEWS TVNETWORKS ETC WERENT SAYING N E THING BOUT RIHANNA SO NAVY JUST GETTING TGJ TOGETHER WITH THEIR NONFACTUAL INFO

  2. britneyraycarey February 11, 2015

i love Rihanna, but I don’t think billboard will allow her to surpass Mariah, I think they will end up keeping her record for a very long time. Just like they didnt allow her to surpass the Beatles by making radio stop playing her songs. I don’t even think they will let her surpass Elvis either.. But who knows? I wish her the best, she is one of my faves and she slays me so much

  3. hives scared of R8 February 11, 2015

    Lmao drag sam!!!! 🙂

  4. nations February 11, 2015

i stan for beyonce however, i do appreciate good music and this is a good song. It would have been even better without kanye.

    • hives scared of R8 February 11, 2015

I love kanye. GREAT producer but he almost ruin the performance.People love to hate on Rihanna’s vocals but she saved the performance and helped kanye sing his own verse smh.It should have been paul singing and put kanye on a remix.

  5. Dossome February 11, 2015

Actually,Both Janet and Mariah are tied with Stevie Wonder and Elton John with 27 Top 10 Hits.It was Michael who had 28 Top ten hits until last year when “Love Never Felt So Good” became his 29th

    • Pu$$iePopstress February 11, 2015

you might want to recheck your facts boo.

Mariah and janet are not tied because jan has more top 10s as a featured artist than mimi.

also, if you include mj’s top 10s as a featured artist, he has more than 29.

features count in an artist’s overall count

      • tits mcgee February 12, 2015

And Janet would have had another one as a feature on Herb Alpert’s “Diamonds”, which went to #5 on the pop charts, but billboard rules at the time did not allow it to her tally.

      • seun February 12, 2015

Damn! MJ is such a fukking beast even in his grave! Still slaying other artists into the gutters!

        Bow down to the king!

  6. Stephy. February 11, 2015

Congrats to Rihanna! She slayed her Grammy’s Performance. No goat vocals were served AT ALL.

    • RihHive February 12, 2015

Prince was flawless at Grammys tho

  7. TheElusiveLamb February 11, 2015

She’ll never really catch Mariah’s record, bc Mariah’s record is 15 solo and 17 as a writer/producer on the hits. However, that’s not to shade Riri. I’m happy to see her up with there legends. #R8

    • Yeah I said it February 11, 2015

Nobody’s going to ever catch Mariah.

    • Stephy. February 11, 2015

All Mariah’s #1’s are LEADING roles tho. She’s NEVER had a number 1… Just from singing the hook. Just wanted to say that.

      • Yeah I said it February 11, 2015

        Exactly!

      • Mark111 February 11, 2015

Rihanna only have 3 #1s as a feature. So stop being insecure.

      • TheElusiveLamb February 11, 2015

Don’t come in my reply box and I was referring to One Sweet Day, Thank God I Found You, & I’ll Be There

      • tits mcgee February 11, 2015

        You shady bitxh!!
        You’re right tho..

    • Pu$$iePopstress February 11, 2015

She will surpass mariah. i can guarantee it. not only will she pass her top 10s record, but she will pass her #1s record.

think about it. rihanna is only 26 and is already in the double digits of #1 singles. she’s accruing them faster than mimi did

      • TheElusiveLamb February 11, 2015

Lol. Whatever makes you feel better, say it.

  8. christinastherealtalent February 11, 2015

I do love this song and her Grammy’s performance was her best IMO!

    • Teacher( AOTY My Ass) February 12, 2015

      Biitch!

  9. Tea honey February 11, 2015

I love how positive this post it and he better drag sam yesss! I wish all posts could be like this anyways slay riri #r8

    • Tea honey February 11, 2015

      Is*

  10. tits mcgee February 11, 2015

Well Rihanna and Beyonce are the top women of color in the industry now, so if either breaks some of the established legends records, that’s an awesome accolade.

    #KoudosBitch
    #R8

    • Royalkev February 12, 2015

Your absolutely right! I’ve noticed that Bey, Rih, Taylor (and even Katy)seem to be the most consistent women in the industry. They’re actually the leaders of the pack and have managed to OWN their lanes successfully. Bey and Rih are definitely reaching heights so many black artists don’t these days. Nicki may be able to follow in their footsteps if she has longevity.

  11. Mark111 February 11, 2015

Next week it’ll hit #1. I can’t believe the Hive and haters were talking so much crap. Did they not know it was a Rihanna song? The power is in the name. Lol

    • RihHive February 12, 2015

Ur so right… Her name carried this b****. Its not even radio friendly and they playin it just cuz Rihanna is on it

  12. Pu$$iePopstress February 11, 2015

i thought that janet and mariah were tied, but it turns out that janet does have one over on ol mimi when it comes to top 10s.

congratz rihanna. im not a fan, but i can’t hate!

  13. Skyfall February 11, 2015

Lol Rashad don’t lose your job lol. Yasss Rihanna coming too slay. I love FourFiveSeconds. I can’t wait to see more live showcases of the song, and I’m eager to ear what the rest of the album will sound like.

Mariah is queen period. If Rihanna surpasses Her good for my babe but Mariah will always be more superior to Rihanna due to he fact that she got hers as Lead artist, she wrote and produce them all as well as got them when it was a harder time to achieve a #1 on ANY chart.

    • seun February 12, 2015

I’m actually a RIH fan but Mariah is such a talented artist.I mean she writes and produces her songs? I dont think this chic can ever go broke!

  14. Mark111 February 11, 2015

Hahaha, the lambs think Rihanna is coming for Mariah’s record. No little ones, she’s coming for the RECORD! The Bugs holds it at 20, that’s the aim. Future Queen of Pop.

    • Yeah I said it February 11, 2015

I love how you Stan for basic b****’s, it’s cute, hilarious, and pathetic at the same time.

Mariah’s Talent’s= Singer, song writer, Producer.
      Rihanna’s Talent’s= ?

      • Mark111 February 12, 2015

No one dissed Mariah. But know this, it’s her time. MC had her time. I like edge, these other artist plays it safe and that’s boring. Everyone wanted Rihanna to release a trap song and she went left. That’s risk, that’s taking a chance. You haters don’t give her the credit for being so bold. Who would had picked a song about an Umbrella? Rated R was dark when everyone wanted a pop album and THEN she dropped Loud. Unapologetic first two singles were a mid tempo and a balled. Who else in this age done that?

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

Rihanna is a great pop star with a catchy & unique voice. She serves her purpose

      • Yeah I said it February 12, 2015

I asked you about her talent, and nothing else, so basically after all of that irrelevant nonsense you just wrote, you’re basically just telling me, her talent is being edgy, ok, thanks.

      • Yeah I said it February 12, 2015

@ Stephy, yes indeed, she does serve her purpose.

  15. Stephy. February 11, 2015

Honestly, these should be Rihanna’s number 1’s…

1.) Pon De Replay (2 weeks)
    2.) Unfaithful (3 weeks)
    3.) SOS (1 week)
    4.) Umbrella (12 weeks)
5.) Hate The I Love You, So (5 weeks)

    14.) Stay (3 weeks)

That’s how her #1’s should look, with the proper weeks spent @ #1…

    • Mother February 12, 2015

this post is dumb as hell. And the fact that you think HTILY should have been number one for 5 weeks is hilarious.

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

        THAT SONG SLAYS BITXH!

  16. Mark111 February 11, 2015

So I guess I Bet fellout of the Hot 100 at #96. Poor thing, maybe she should join the cast of Love n Hip Hop: Atlanta.

    • tits mcgee February 12, 2015

You know you ain’t right. Omg.. -_-

      #Damn

  17. Stephy. February 12, 2015

These should be Beyonce’s #1’s imo

1.) Crazy In Love (15 weeks)
    2.) Baby Boy (12 weeks)
    3.) Naughty Girl (4 weeks)
4.) Dangerously In Love (1 week)
    5.) Irreplaceable (11 weeks)
    6.) Deja Vu (4 weeks)
    7.) Listen (2 weeks)
    8.) Single Ladies (10 weeks)
    9.) Halo (3 weeks)
    10.) If I Were A Boy (2 weeks)

    That’s how Beyonce’s #1’s SHOULD look like…

    • Mother February 12, 2015

“thats how beyonce’s #1s SHOULD look like..”

Says a random irrelevant commentator on an urban blog who’s opinions doesnt change a damn thing. Have several seats please, pretentious f**.

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

        Why you mad tho?

  18. Mark111 February 12, 2015

Rihanna is the type of artist that you expect the unexpected. People are just now understanding that. What genre will she do next? Lol

    • BeyRihLiyah February 12, 2015

Aaliyah was the same way especially on the red album at that time everybody thought she went ” too left field” and she was really about to go left field on her fourth album

    • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

I think ffs was a teaser. The big song hasn’t been revealed yet. she is coming for edges, wigs, scalps etc.

  19. Stephy. February 12, 2015

I don’t like how Mariah’s #1’s look either. This would be my opinion of hers…

1.) Vision Of Love (5 weeks)
    2.) Emotions (6 weeks)
    3.) I Can’t Let Go (3 weeks)
    4.) Dreamlover (8 weeks)
5.) My Endless Love (4 weeks)
    6.) Hero (10 weeks)
7.) Anytime You Need A Friend (2 weeks)
    8.) I Can’t Live Without You (4 weeks)
9.) All I Want For Christmas Is You (4 weeks)
    10.) Fantasy (12 weeks)
11.) Always Be My Baby (8 weeks)
12.) One Sweet Day (14 weeks)
    13.) Honey (4 weeks)
    14.) My All (3 weeks)
15.) When You Believe (1 week)
    16.) Heart-breaker (2 weeks)
17.) I Want To Know What Love Is (6 weeks)
18.) We Belong Together (16 weeks)
    19.) Don’t Forget About Us (3 weeks)
20.) Touch My Body (1 week)

That would be my list tbh…

    • Skyfall February 12, 2015

One Sweet Day >> We Belong Together lol.

Mariah has one of the best Discographys of any artist, and had Billboard not changed their crappy rules so much she probably would have waaay more top 10s/#1s. I’m still pressed about Butterfly, Breakdown & Forever being snubbed for lack of promo/Billboard rules.

      Sidenote:
Some of my fav Mariah Gems are

      Fourth of July
      Forever
      Melt Away
      Baby doll
      Never Forget You
      After Tonight

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

Yes, the fact that she WROTE & produced that discography is amazing. I love One Sweet Day… But, in terms of IMPACT her biggest hit has to be We Belong Together .. Especially, in America

      • Skyfall February 12, 2015

True both Slayed I remember back in the day when “We Belong Together” came on and every sang and tried to hold that long note at the end.

  20. Skyfall February 12, 2015

I agree with Mark111 on about Rihanna being spontaneous. There’s no telling what her album as a whole will sound like or what the second single will sound like. It could be another Folk/Pop song or she could release another Diamond type song. Hell she could release a song like Blank Space or Style and the only outcome would be pure slayage.

    • Josie February 12, 2015

All your songs are going to sound different if you’re not the one who’s writing them.

  21. Rihhhhh February 12, 2015

I love it…Sam was so ready to throw a match on Rihanna’s casket and watch it go up in flames…next week will be interesting seeing as how it will include the gains from the Grammy performance

  22. Skyfall February 12, 2015

Actually now that I think about it. I would LOOVEEE for Rihanna to release a song like “Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift.

  23. Stephy. February 12, 2015

    Whitney Houston.

1.) The Greatest Love Of All (4 weeks)
    2.) How Will I Know (3 weeks)
3.) Saving All My Love For You (2 weeks)
4.) I Wanna Dance With Somebody (10 weeks)
5.) Didn’t We Almost Have It All (3 weeks)
    6.) So Emotional (2 weeks)
7.) Where Do Broken Hearts Go (1 week)
8.) One Moment In Time (2 weeks)
    9.) I’m Your Baby Tonight (4 weeks)
10.) All The Man That I Need (2 weeks)
11.) Star Spangle Banner (1 week)
12.) I Will Always Love You (20 weeks)
    13.) I Have Nothing (10 weeks)
    14.) I’m Every Woman (5 weeks)
15.) Waiting To Exhale (4 weeks)
    16.) I Believe In You & Me (2 weeks)
17.) When You Believe (1 week)
18.) My Love Is Your Love (6 weeks)

That would be my choices for her #1’s.

    • Skyfall February 12, 2015

Screaming at 20 weeks for “I will always love you”

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

Chile, based on the IMPACT that song had (and still has)… It could have very well stayed there for that long. I even sold 3 million physical singles in its FIRST year of release (in USA alone)! That’s amazing! I think The Bodyguard Soundtrack made the single sales go down.

      • JOHNVIDAL February 12, 2015

It was the biggest era by a female artist ever. Believe me.

  24. CT February 12, 2015

    Legend in the making…

  25. Stephy. February 12, 2015

    Last One… Michael Jackson.

    1.) Who’s Loving You (2 weeks)

3.) Got To Be There (2 weeks)
4.) Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough (10 weeks)
5.) Rock With You (6 weeks)
    6.) Billie Jean (12 weeks)
    7.) Beat It (10 weeks)
    8.) Thriller (4 weeks)
9.) Say, Say, Say (6 weeks)
10.) We Are The World (3 weeks)
    11.) Bad (4 weeks)
12.) The Way You Make Me Feel (4 weeks)
    13.) Smooth Criminal (4 weeks)
    14.) Dirty Diana (4 weeks)
    15.) I Just Can’t Stop Loving You (2 weeks)
16.) Man In The Mirror (5 weeks)
17.) Black Or White (8 weeks)
18.) Remember The Time (4 weeks)
19.) You Are Not Alone (4 weeks)
    20.) Earth Song (2 weeks)
21.) You Rock My World (3 weeks)

    MJ’s #1’s in my eyes…

    • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

Smooth criminal is my favorite MJ song/video period!!he killed that video. That was his best choreography in my opinion.

      • Stephy. February 12, 2015

OMG! Me Too! The fact that SMOOTH FREAKING CRIMINAL peaked at #7 on the charts is weird. That’s hands down one of his most iconic songs, videos & movements of his ENTIRE career. I’ve seen multiple people choose SC or Thriller.

Also, have you herd the extended Version? It’s incredible!
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoRb3j5po5s

      • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

Wait, smooth criminal wasnt #1??? Its so underrated

    • seun February 12, 2015

      Bad ass MJ!

I love dont stop till you get enough, dirty diana, the way you make me feel, we are the world, and black or white.

*Sigh* and i wasnt born when thriller was released.

Keep slaying these other artists in your grave legend!

  26. Stephy. February 12, 2015

Number 1 hits don’t mean crap tbh… So, many artist have songs that deserve the #1 spot that are MORE iconic than the actual number 1 hits… So, weird how MJ’s biggest hit & Mariah’s biggest hit didn’t even go number 1 lol

  27. RihannaIsMadonna February 12, 2015

    B**** I’m Rihanna…Legendary!!!

  28. DanYiel Teflon February 12, 2015

  34. LB February 12, 2015

    @Rashad,

I love my Rih, you know I do but nobody is catching up to Mimi, 18 #1s all written and produced by her. That is phenomenal.

No female artist will ever catch up to Mimi, she is a once in a 100 years type of artist.

I stan for Beyonce, BUT I have every single Rihanna album she’s released since 07… Is that a crime? WE have to stop this… This is getting out of control. #StopTheDrama #WeSeeRightThroughYou

  44. Slay_Hive February 12, 2015

Oh my goodness the mental patient is back. As soon as Rihanna goes top ten, they come out of hiding kii. Beyonce’s URBAN song made it to #2 after the grammys. She didn’t pretend to be a country hillbilly just to get white America to pay attention her. Neither was she begging her fans on twitter to buy her music. This girl is no queen and she’ll have to continue promoting this mess to get it at #1! Beys Double Platinum ablum plaqyw sitting pretty without having to cling to a chart, #CarryOn

    • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

She didn’t pretend to be a country hillbilly just to get white America to pay attention her.

      • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

Gurl bye.Fleayonce been acting like a crackhead/drunk hoodrat since crazy in love.

      • Slay_Hive February 12, 2015

But you just said she became a drunk h** overnight tho. kii Make up your mind. Rihanna is known for drinking and drugs. 😉

    • uc4rihrih February 12, 2015

beyonce have to act p*** in her videos & sing about drinking jayz g******** infected s**** just to sell her album. she think she is smart releasing 14porn videos in mid night thinking she was gonna win album of the year lmao…..

    • Skyfall February 12, 2015

Racist b****, the song isn’t even country shows what you know, but then again you stan Beyoncé. So the only genres you’re familiar with is urban/ ratchet

  45. Slay_Hive February 12, 2015

Rihanna has one little cute mediocre performance with basic vocals and they think she’s done something. kii Rihanna would have RUINED and screeched for dear life all the way through Precious Lord Take my Hand if she would have even attempted it. Let’s not girl! These girls will cling to a basic chart in a minute. Save the talking for when those albums sales come in! 😉

    • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

Basic vocals….Only the fleas call it basic.she is getting praised for that performance.Madonna and Kelly Clarkson were stannin hard..Why are you mad b****?
Nobody checking for 9/11 with all the hype around this b****** name????

      • Slay_Hive February 12, 2015

Yes her voice is basic! Madonna knows nothin about vocals and Kelly is a nobody. 7/11 has been in the top twenty without a performance or promo. Bey has practically paid her album and singles dust, yet she’s still selling and charting decently. Im not mad hun. I was just correcting a delusional r******. 😉

      • hives scared of R8 February 12, 2015

Why are the fleas so stupid???

Paul McCartney did a song with the queen though. What do you have to say about that?? Umm ok Kelly clarkson is a powerhouse and Madonna is queen of pop so their opinions matter.

BACK TO THEIFYONCE ,She had promo boo, she made headlines for being one of the most talked about artist. She showed her face at the grammys, even performed. That is promo, so stop with the lies.

      • Marley February 12, 2015

Thats not promo, thats exposure @R8

      • blue February 12, 2015

        lol…funniest comment ever.

Dont people promote to get exposure? The album had the biggest exposure of any in the last 2 decades why would they need to promote? Silly child. BEY had exposure money could buy and yet stalled at 4mil, unapologetic had at the very least 1/4 of that and they about totaled the same…#reflection!

  46. red wine February 12, 2015

it will be #1 in 2 weeks top 5 next week I say #3

  49. #JACKIE (Cici da baddest) February 12, 2015

    FLOP

  50. Royalkev February 12, 2015

Congrats to Rihanna! I’m not surprised by this. Lately I’ve been looking at where a lot of today’s artists are at in their careers. It’s just something I find interesting. I have high expectations for several, but when it comes to Rihanna it’s evident to me (if you observe the pace she’s moving at) that she will one day surpass MC. She top the women on this chart. I seriously doubt (for good reason), that she’s topping The Beatles. If she stops there, it’ll still be a huge accomplishment.

  51. Beyhulu February 12, 2015

I said it few weeks ago, don’t underestimate this bish. Sam and some Beyhive always predict doom for Rihanna and it ends up biting them in the a55. Congrats Rihanna. Bey had a successful album, let the navy enjoy their era.

    • Marley February 12, 2015

Lets not act like the Navy were not predicting doom all of 2013 after the 4 era.

  52. Royalkev February 12, 2015

*She will top the women on this chart.

  53. Marley February 12, 2015

Shes not coming for Mariahs record

  54. #JACKIE (Cici da baddest) February 12, 2015

B**** has 1 good performance and navy think she slaying goodbye

    • The Bajan Princess February 12, 2015

Wow you’re BITTER and PRESSED sis! If I were a C-Error stan id be upset too! How’s I Bet doing sis? Blazing the charts and airwaves? I think NOT! When will she grace the Grammy stage? And don’t tell me about s*** she did a decade ago…lol.

      • #JACKIE (Cici da baddest) February 12, 2015

Pressed over a no singing s***???? No mam Ciara slays ForeheadFiveSkank

  55. kingbeybitch February 12, 2015

7/11 still in the top 20

  56. bria February 12, 2015

Top 20??// lol the fleas are hypocrits #flopfor a socalled king

    Hint: shes not

  57. JOHNVIDAL February 12, 2015

The thing is getting hit singles is easier nowadays by just releasing your new single (or dozens of them, as there isn´t the radio-single requirement there was years ago) to itunes and that´s it. Sadly, all these Rihanna achievements in singles charts are not translating into an equally successful run on album charts and incredible showings of talent like those other people mentioned in this article achieved.

    • blue February 12, 2015

2015 calling 1980!!! Wrong musical era honey! Could you please compare artists chart runs to their peers.

      • JOHNVIDAL February 12, 2015

Honey you are pretty retarded if you wanted to sound smart. The records Rihanna is supposedly aiming to break are from that other era, so it was normal to talk about it in a comment in this post. In fact, the post is all about that the way it is written. Remember the article mentions Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Rihanna. How do different eras affect the fact that Rihanna´s showings (vocals, performances, non existant musicianship) are bland compared to those others mentioned (epic artists)?
        Now grow up.

  58. SMH February 12, 2015

Cute for her, but she’ll never surpass Janet & Mariah’s albums’ records.

  59. bria February 12, 2015

This rihanna is not an album seller is simply flea propaganda

If bey had the success rih does you coukdnt keep them quiet

  60. blue February 12, 2015

i love it when people start talking out their arses…

    1) did the slayhive forget grammy 2013…stay performance was the best that year.
    2)@mark
honey stop talking out your ass FFS wont go #1 next week
    3) yes DIL went to #2 after the grammy performance but that week is next week for rihanna not this week
    4) the record rihanna is going for is most #1 by an artist not most #1’s by a songwriter or producer…totally different records
    5) getting hits today is actually not easier today because one has to factor in physical and digital sales, radio play and streaming…and streaming and radio take time to build up
    6) the song is top ten time to eat your words haters

  61. LC February 12, 2015

Rihanna and Beyonce posts always get so hostile. Those women don’t even dislike each other. I don’t think any woman would let another woman that she dislikes be around her child. So why do their fan bases hate each other so much? They are two beautiful women who are dominating the music industry in different ways. Congrats to Rihanna.

  62. Uknowdakid February 12, 2015

    I don’t consider this R&b

  63. Uknowdakid February 12, 2015

I really hate how that chart is set up now days

  64. caribbean native February 12, 2015

seethe samantha seethe…. that firat line had me weakkkk lmaoooooo

  65. TRUTH SERUM February 12, 2015

@Navy, the next time you all try to come for Rashaad, remember this line “while Sam seethes”. Lol.

  66. Dustin February 12, 2015

That roc nation payola game stays STRONG

  67. Theman February 12, 2015

Nothing is guaranteed in this fickled industry.. There are other songs doing great besides this Rihanna song. When radio constantly plays your songs, streaming is a component & digital singles are a dollar, it’s pretty easy to score hits.

  68. Theman February 12, 2015

@Blue Taylor Swift has sold over four million albums in just a few months. Beyonce has sold nearly 2.5 million. Sam Smith has sold nearly 1.5 million. It goes on and on. Some folks just aren’t album sellers..

  69. Meteorite February 12, 2015

NEW FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE OUT!!!!!!!! NEW FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE OUT!!!!!!!! NEW FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE OUT!!!!!!!!

    • JOHNVIDAL February 12, 2015

We know! I was so waiting for the third album.

  70. Junior in Jamaica February 12, 2015

But why is this on the R&B/Hip Hop chart? It’s not even that genre of music.
