‘Heartless’ hitmaker Kanye West is finding out just how heartless some U.K. music lovers are regarding news that he’s set to headline this summer’s Glastonbury festival showing.

An online petition started as a joke, according to reports, has now gone viral and attracted of signatures of over 60,000 calling for the removal of the Grammy winner from the show’s top bill.

Get the details below:

Via SPIN:

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world,” wrote petition-starter Neil Lonsdale, apparently speaking for music fans all over the world (or, at the very least, the U.K.). “This egotistical, maniacal, disgrace was a clear oversight,” he continued. “There is still time to correct this.”

Kanye fans are noting that Lonsdale has admittedly never attended a Glastonbury festival to date.  However, the petition-starter has noted that he does not want his first experience “ruined” by the likes of West.  See the petition here.

Cant stand music snobbery. They’ll get a few beers down them and have the time of their life.

  2. Cough Cough March 19, 2015

Beggars can’t be choosers and they get the attention of a relevant American artist about twice a decade. They may want to rethink this before they pass it up and realize they will only be having bag pipe queens and 80 year old D-lister Motown acts hitting their stage for the next half decade.

    • Mj March 19, 2015

      At £225 a ticket who’s begging?

      • Cough Cough March 19, 2015

Get out your feelings and get into the truth, girl. The price has nothing to do with what I said. Comprehension is key.

    • OMG Logic!!! March 19, 2015

You do realize you’re talking about the legendary Glastonbury right? Not only can they book a better artist, they can book someone much more famous. When was the last time Kanye went on a stadium tour? I’ll wait.

      • Cough Cough March 19, 2015

Kanye really doesn’t have to tour babes. He’s a rapper but remember before that he is a mega producer and made all those coins years and years before he even released any music of his own. His rapping and own personal music is just a plus. And If you glanced at the Glastonbury list from last year, it was dead as a door knob. I havent looked up this years but 2014 was nothing ur ZzZzZzZz’s and undesirables.. Legendary or not.

      • Toohotfortv March 19, 2015

This person is obviously delusional. What artist is bigger than kanye west? He’s the most polarizing figure in popular culture and music. I would venture to bet that at least half of these petitioners are not even going and a quarter of the signatures are probably duplicates. One thing I will say is, people really have to open their minds, and eyes, and understand that the man’s art is an extension of him but that it is also a separate thing from the entirety of his public persona. He’s a good, if not great, artist. I can see/hear that without ever buying a kanye album or single. Be objective and have real reference points before you comment. I really need to stop caring bc I absolutely know that 90% of people are idiots. It’s more likely than not that I’m addressing one of that 90%.

    ……..

  4. Lana Del Fan *I Can Hear The Sirens* March 19, 2015

They just signed it CUZ he’s black lol

  5. Arianator Barb March 19, 2015

I want him say something lol. “The same people that tried to blackball me forgot about 2 things: my black balls” hahaha I love Yeezy

  6. TheElusiveLamb March 19, 2015

They are such haters and this is coming from someone who hasn’t liked Ye since he was college dropout. Still, someone needs to stop him mid way in his set and say, “Kanye, I’m going to let you finish, but Beyoncé had the best Glastonbury performance of all time.”

  7. Katycat March 19, 2015

Please those so called music lover sang along every single Beyonce song when she performed there Just give them a beer and they’ll be fine

    • OMG Logic!!! March 19, 2015

Thighyonce sings and dances, what does Kanye do again?

      • Toohotfortv March 19, 2015

        Art.

  8. Lovely rose March 19, 2015

Lol as much as I see this as a race issue they’ did the same to JAYZ and Beyonce.. Kanye the other day said something to the effect of ‘racism’ doesn’t exist and I hope he sees this for what it is and closes his mouth when it comes to issues like that.. And take off his rose tinted glasses

    • Mj March 19, 2015

I absolutely disagree with the race baiters this is NOT a race issue we’ve moved on from the days they said hip hop couldn’t play Glasto and now it’s commonplace I even managed to catch nas there 2 years ago! on this occasion I’m with those that oppose Kanye at this one although not to the extent that I’d petition against it. I go to Glasto every year and the best thing about it is the diverse range of music on show. The issue here is that Kanye is the ‘headline’ act yet many would argue he’s not headline material for this particular event. Historically headline acts are of an outstanding calibre and Kanye is more of a controversial celebrity than a respectable artist these days. That said I won’t be petitioning against the booking I’ll simply check out one of the other many talents on offer at the same time! That is unless he agrees to cover ONLY the college dropout-late registration era and NOT preach between songs!

      • Lovely rose March 19, 2015

I understand your point about he is not a headliner artist but he is I’ve been to his concert etc.. He has ALOT of accolades and as much as I don’t like him and the way he acts he is good at what he does… The person that created the petition said ‘he should be replaced with a rock artist’ if that’s not another ‘no hip hop’ excuse then I don’t know

      • Toohotfortv March 19, 2015

And actually there are only a very few other more highly acclaimed artist than kanye west. Please count his grammys.

      • Mj March 19, 2015

        Let’s agree to disagree!

  9. I STAN(D) FOR TALENT March 19, 2015

Replace him with a rock band? Sounds like racism to me, but at least the UK or white people in general love Rihanna. She didn’t have to resort to bleaching or dyeing her hair blonde unlike her mentor’s wife. She’s crazy and desperate to be white.

  10. Barb-wire March 19, 2015

What at will he say now that race doesn’t exist. *sips tea*

  11. FutureCIARA March 19, 2015

People that signed that petition wont even be in attendance so……

  12. S****** Blonde March 19, 2015

Ha!……Can we do the same here to every Pop/Rap/R&B act who attempts to perform at Coachella this year, please?

But seriously he did this to himself, Kanye was very loved but he is now seen as one of the Kardashians, and after the whole Beck controversy most rock fans lost respect for him, how can he do that to a musical genius for the sake of a woman who can’t even play an instrument, it’s unacceptable.

    • Blue Ivy Rod (SlayMaticThinksImSlayriah) March 19, 2015

The award was for AOTY not Musican of the year. Not saying neck didn’t deserve his Grammy because he did but it came as a shock to everyone that he won because no one other than his friends or intial land of birth. Stop acting as if rock isn’t dying and everyone is branching out with their sounds

      • S****** Blonde March 19, 2015

So i bet you think Taylor Swift deserves AOTY after all her success, Pop fans mentality, it’s never about talent….Btw, Rock will never die, just because a music genre doesn’t chart or get played on radio stations doesn’t mean is dead, Pop fans come and go, they live for what’s hot at the moment and move on onto the next thing the next day, it’s another mentality.

      • Toohotfortv March 19, 2015

Can I just say that it is absolute bs to say that a singer is not a musician. The voice is an instrument. Those who sing with proficiency are absolutely musicians to the 10th degree. Gtfoh with that. And this is coming from someone who’s never bought a beyonce album, but has several beck albums.

      • Blue Ivy Rod (SlayMaticThinksImSlayriah) March 19, 2015

I’m saying that he did derserve his award, it’s just that he’s not as mainstream as Beyonce. We keep hearing about beyonce all year and what she has done but it did come as a shock because he wasn’t really mentioned anywhere. I am glad he won because he deserved it, just don’t get upset that rock is dying out and becoming a sub genre or mix than just its own.

  13. SMH March 19, 2015

Wonder if the self obsessed turd will still think racism doesn’t exist after this.

  14. March 19, 2015

whatever, anyways keep doing you Kanye.

  15. metzo March 19, 2015

I think Jay Z would be a better choice as he’s a better performer imo. Kanye is weird. But then again they probably prefer having some pop stars or boy bands perform..

    • Lolz March 19, 2015

Jay Z has already headlined Glastonbury

      • metzo March 19, 2015

Oh , I had no idea!!! That’s awesome that both him and his wifey headlined Glastonbury. Especially that Bey made history for being the first female to do so. Thats a big deal.
*Runs to YouTube to watch Jay Z ‘s performance*

      • Lolz March 19, 2015

Yep. There was a big deal about him headlining too at the time. But just like they did with Beyonce, the people got their lives. And I am sure they will with Kanye if he just performs his entire set without going on a ranting segment.

    • Toohotfortv March 19, 2015

Are you serious? You think jay is a better performer than Kanye? Ok, your opinions are no longer valid.

    • Royalkev March 20, 2015

Jay MIGHT have more classic albums, but Kanye is ten times more engaging on stage!

  16. Naomi March 19, 2015

I wonder if these people would have the same reaction if Eminem was to headline? These people needs to crawl out from under a rock. Its 2015. The festivals grow and evolve with time. There are no set boundaries as to what music is allowed. Its these type of people who try and act so musically educated and superior but act ignorant about anything thats not to their taste. Total contradiction.

  17. Molly March 19, 2015

    Oh well he’s trash anyway.

  18. Molly March 19, 2015

Its always about race with you b!tches.

  19. Mark111 March 19, 2015

But they’ll still go, so speak with your money or stfu.

  20. Criticca March 19, 2015

Here in New Zealand, that’s more than enough to take action. We had about 20K complaints for Natalia Kills to get fired on X-Factor NZ and that ended up happening lolz

  21. Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! March 19, 2015

Glastonbury 2011 was the best in recent times with Coldplay, U2 and Beyoncé being the headline acts.
Wonder if this year can compete with that…

  22. Blue Ivy Rod (SlayMaticThinksImSlayriah) March 19, 2015

It’s his attitude that people don’t like, people don’t care how untalented you are in the UK (that’s why Cheryl can chart there and no where else) it’s how “humble” you are. Which is stupid, an artist shouldn’t be judged in the line light as their music. If Kanyes an ass then that’s fine but he is talented and has some good songs so he would be a good choice to headline. Get over it

  23. Rosie March 19, 2015

Rock purists are f****** hilarious. Kanye fell off after MBDTF but just because a band or artist isn’t 100% guitars and acoustic instruments and etc. doesn’t mean that it’s not ~real music~. Thats exactly why rock is DEAD the mainstream, other than indie rock bands who constantly experiment and evolve, they won’t step into 2015 like literally every other genre.

  24. J.E March 20, 2015

    He actually deserves it

  25. Royalkev March 20, 2015

… Not surprised this is becoming a big deal because of KANYE headlining. There’s a 101 reasons he’s a target.
