‘Empire’ is proving to be the gift that keeps giving – for both its network and its cast.
As earlier reported, the series has already spurned record deal for Jussie Smollett – who plays Jamal Lyon on the FOX hit.
Now, it has been revealed that cast-mate Bryshere Gray has also inked a recording contract.

Confirmation came courtesy Gray himself during a promotional interview he sat down for with on-screen brothers Smollett and Trai Byers.
While remaining mum on which label he’s signed with, the 21-year-old (who goes by the stage name Yazz The Greatest) assured that it’s a major label and that the likes of Timbaland and Snoop Dogg are involved:
Congrats are most certainly in order. Gray (who plays Hakeem) is uber talented and could plausibly make s splash on the charts with the right push.
To be totally frank, though, it is surprising to see the deals flying in at such an early stage. We’d have expected them in subsequent seasons, but it clearly speaks to the show’s popularity and the desire of major labels desire to get a piece of the pie.

Record labels are seeing these HIGH numbers for the show, so they think signing these ACTORS will hopefully increase their solo career sales.

IDK why he or any of the show characters are doing this. People will not be able to separate the TV character from the artist. Why do you think all the entire cast of Glee are flops outside of their show? I’m not going to shade though. Good luck cutie.

Apparently its all 360 deals from ‘Empire’ and the major labels, which is why Diddy’s son Quincy didn’t want to do it. It will be years before he makes a profit or a name of his own, but best of luck anyhow.
I think it us a 360 deal for the music from the show, BUT anything outside of that from deals from other companies might be different. But at the end if the day, these actors are getting paid for being on Empire and are getting their names out there as actors who are on a tv show with Oscar nominated actors. What is Quincy doing? What impact has Quincy made in his life to music, pop culture, media etc? A 30 min long episode of sweet 16? And he is “famous” for nothing.
^word. Plus Diddy hasn’t had a successful artist to pass the 2nd album EVER! The 360 is no different from American Idol and clearly Kelly Clarkson is eating. But I don’t see them doing much.

Quincy is famous for nothing tbh, I admire Diddy taking him in as his own though. Yh Bad Boy are annoying af, they would have an artist release a great debut album and then Diddy would drop them, even tho the label never promoted their sophomore projects.

Regardless of whether its associated with ‘Empire’ or not, most new artists get 360 deals anyway so I guess its a good business move to snap up the opportunity now.

For whatever seems to be the winning formula it’s great for all parties involved and I can honestly say I enjoy empire it has not failed me yet. I can’t wait for the season finale this coming Wednesday.

Everyone is bring up glee and how those actors turned singers failed. That is very true and the same happen with the high school musical actors who released their own albums. But empire actors record orginal music not cover songs like glee and everyone for another example if a actor who played a singer revived a big music career…Miley Cyrus with Hannah Montana. She is now a Grammy nominated singer. Or drake in degrassi, he rapped on the show and then became DRAKE.
