Jermaine Dupri Explains Ciara ‘I Bet’ “Diss”

Jermaine Dupri made headlines last week when he hit out at Ciara‘s new single ‘I Bet’ for allegedly borrowing from his Usher production, ‘You Got It Bad.’

Naturally, his comments went viral and many deemed them as JD spitting venom in CiCi’s direction.

Keen to clear up his stance (while still standing by it), the producer stopped by V103 in Atlanta for a sit-down with Big Tigger.

Check out what he had to say below…

Granted there are sonic similarities, we feel JD is reaching with this one.

The lovelorn template both songs draw from has become an R&B staple in recent years and isn’t exclusively tied to one producer – regardless of whoever popularised the sound.

Your thoughts?

He’s right. I immediately heard You Got It Bad when I first listened to I Bet. If you do any kind of music you’d definitely notice it.

JD no one cares! You just need to be editing Mariah’s new song and doubling those background vocals for her new songs to go on this rerelease #1’s album and PRAY that one of the songs does something on the charts so you can become relevant to produce other artists hits to get out of this MAJOR debt you’re in. He’s so crybaby as of lately.

    • RihYonce March 25, 2015

Ciara had a new song? Honestly she should just scrap it and call it a buzz single. No lead single should be charting less than a. Rita Ora single

I agree with Sam. The sound was huge back in the 1999 – 2002 era of R&B. So this sound isn’t originated by JD. He should let this go though, it’s not like he’ll be getting a lot of money from it. I mean just look at it……

  17. Lake Erie March 25, 2015

(sigh) JD stop man. What’s he promoting again? Because it Damn sure well isn’t Mariah.

  18. robyn March 26, 2015

When Jan left, she took everything with her…. including relevancy and credibility.
