“Out with the old, in with the new” may be Mariah Carey‘s approach to her record label situation, however the superstar singer is sticking with her longtime musical collaborators.
Fresh from the announcement that the 45-year-old diva has inked a lucrative new deal with Epic Records, it’s been revealed that she’s been hard at work in the studio with Jermaine Dupri.

Confirmation comes courtesy of the hitmaker himself; for, while captioning a snap on Instagram, he shared that he had “been in the studio all night
with @MariahCarey.”
His words tally with the singer’s own assertions this week on Twitter that she has been recording in Los Angeles.

Given the messy muckiness that was JD’s momentary run as Mimi’s manager, it’s understandable why some may greet their studio reunion with a collective groan. However, we’re fine with it.
Folk far too often forget the lengthy list of hits that the pair have cooked up together – namely cuts such as ‘Always Be My Baby’ and millennial smash ‘We Belong Together.’
What’s more, with talk of Mariah’s upcoming ‘#1’s’ album potentially featuring new collaboration versions, we’re keen to see if any of the JD numbers receive said treatment. Pardon the pun, but how epic would a duet rendition of ‘We Belong Together’ be?!

Walter is not going to bring MC back to the top. Some of his work is on Glitter and we all saw how that went. She doesn’t need Walter or other phenomenal producers, she needs to clean up her shady and heavily overblown image and all will be fine.
How would you know what would happen. He only worked on Lead The Way so I don’t know where u think you was going with that one. JD is too dated now. Glitter was just a hot mess that last scene still kills me where she hugs her mum. Shame.
I know what would happen, bc their chemistry is gone and the sound would be considered extremely outdated. There’s no way for 14/15 years to go by and suddenly a spark is reignited for a strained relationship.

Interesting. I would LOVE a collaboration #1’s album. If true, she should pick artists like Beyoncé, Adele, Sam Smith, and etc. Basically, anyone who said they were influenced by her voice. Very valid point… They have a history together, so if in fact this is a project they are re-creating as stated in the article, Then it would only make sense. Alot of people feel like he is to blame for whatever reason, I just get bad feelings about whenever I hear his name being attached to anybodys project. I want her to expand her sound, and re-print her legendary mark on music.

I think the are so caught up in trying to make another and they can’t. That album was a classic. Still her most talked about album to date. They just need to move on and innovate.
