Report: Brownstone Group Member Found Dead

Published: Sunday 1st Mar 2015 by David

Charmayne Maxwell of the R&B girl group Brownstone has passed away.

After rising to fame in the mid 90s with the hits ‘If You Love Me’ and ‘Grapevyne‘, Maxwell passed away on Saturday February 28th and survived by producer husband Carsten Soulshock and their young son Nicolaj.

The Daily Mail reports that cause of death was a “mysterious fall”.

Maxwell was attending a soccer game in Los Angeles when she fell. Her death has been described as an ‘accident’ by Danish media Her & Nu, which broke the news.

That Grape Juice extends our thoughts and prayers to Charmayne’s family.

You’re such a hater…. Send your condolences and move on. Why do you always have to bring up Bey/Rih/Mariah?

Ooooh, that’s sad. These heifers could SANG. Love their songs “If You Love Me”, “Grapevine” & “Pass The Lovin'”!

They sounded like a whole church choir when they sang.. RIP.

      • DD1G March 1, 2015

They sounded like a church choir because they multiplied their vocals in the studio, which gave them a sound that wasn’t humanly possible for three singers. As a result, when they performed live they often had to scream to try and match the sound of the record, which didn’t sound as nice.

No one is reporting she had recently broke her foot and was in pain… the wrong meds, too much, or an embolism could’ve been why too…. Odd my favorite vocal from her was the Brownstone version of “I Cant tell you why” with only her on lead. She had a one in 2 million voice… The other members were powerful but she had the best all purpose tone and phrasing and could swang with the big dogs in power too

Yes!!!!…she had the best voice and tone.

Lord Jesus I always felt this group deserved a big platform in the mainstream, especially considering they we’re signed to MJ’s label. I would’ve loved a collab with the two smh :/

That’s so sad. Those women could BLOW. En Vogue, Labelle, and Brownstone are the best female vocalists girl groups. Xscape and Allure could hold their own though.

    • DD1G March 1, 2015

      LOL@Allure. Get serious, trick.

      • Tre March 4, 2015
