With ‘Orange,’ Ocean’s first mainstream effort, he proved himself a skilled songwriter and compelling storyteller. However, there’s no denying that the “truth baring letter” which preceded the release helped elevate his name and music. Indeed, the media fascination with his sexuality is well-documented and ultimately has many wondering how commercially viable he’ll be now that the dust has settled.
We’re primarily amped for the new material, but would be lying if we said we aren’t keen to see the climate in which its received.

I caught that tea too. That movie was too depressing Like “Requiem for a Dream.” At least an Oscar was won from it. Y’all are reaching. Don’t make it seem as if he had no fans before he came out as bi. That move hardly helped him, more like hurt him. Anyway can’t wait for this record. I love that he always releases in July, (my birthday)!!
LOL! You’re the one reaching. The gay thing is what got/gets him attention. His music is an afterthought. With all the press, chatter he got and disingenuous award nominations/wins he got, his album should have sold MILLIONS instead of barely gold. If he hadn’t revealed his penchant for other mens genitalia, he would be about as commercially successful as someone like Ledisi or Kem. People like him, Michael Sam, Jason Collins, etc., etc. know that their talent isn’t enough so they use gay as a gimmick. No one cares about Frank’s music, all he is is a tool for the gay agenda.
Well, he better come on with it if he’s serious. But this time he needs more songs on the album with hit potential. Channel Orange was was too melodramatic and slow-paced. Also, if he’s gonna make another album about the boys he feel inn love with that didn’t love him back (see Sam Smith for reference) then he needs to at least make it more commercial, so that it doesn’t drag out the album and make it dull (once again, see Sam Smith). Overall, I’m here for it, but I just need him to start wearing shoes and socks while performing because it distracts the viewer from paying attention.

His mixtape/EP was actually better than Channel Orange I feel like Frank got all the attention and acclaim after he wrote the letter about falling in love with a man and announcing his bisexuality. He is a good songwriter but he is a dull overall artist.
