As a singer, songwriter, and actress, Ester Dean defines triple threat.
Having taken a brief-break from penning hits for the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry, the 33-year-old is currently pushing new movie ‘Pitch Perfect 2.’
The promo trail for the flick, which hits US theaters on May 15th, brought the star to ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Power 105.1.
During the hilarious chat with Charlamagne and co, Dean dished on many a topic including getting her big break via Polow Da Don and her love life.
Most notably, though, it was her words on songwriting for and with Beyonce and Nicki Minaj that will likely resonate in earnest.

So glad Ester cleared up some of these bogus beliefs about Bey! People insist on claiming that Bey only attaches her name to song credits without having any actual participation. We know about Bey’s gifts, she’s great at coming up with music arrangements! I think Bey’s probably better at songwriting than we think. I personally think she goes with established writers because if she crafts a song solo people will knock her (just because…) I hope one day to hear multiple songs on a Beyonce album written by only B! I think many will be pleasantly surprised to see how many great melodies she comes up with. I know that’s her biggest strength when it comes to songwriting.
