This year has seen many a Rihanna fan take to social media to demand information on the whereabouts of her new album.
Fortunately, it’s supposed delay seems to have done very little to curtail interest in the project.

This morning we took to the social media analytics site Topsy to see just how interested the general public were in the star’s eighth studio album.
The results were impressive to say the least.
Should search for the album’s current tile ‘R8’ on the service they’d find that it has been mentioned now fewer than 3,000 times per day on Twitter alone since April 15th.
Since then, ‘R8’ has been discussed 170,210 times on Twitter alone, and crosses the half a million mark when stats from Facebook are thrown into the mix.
So, how are the album’s singles faring on Twitter? Even better.
Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the album’s lead single ‘FourFiveSeconds.’

I think Rihanna can turn this R8 era around if she finds a musical direction. She either needs to continue making “McMusic” as it’s referred to on this site or she needs to go all the way “timeless” like she said she was. I didn’t mind FFS because it was different and her Grammy performance did it justice but then she did a complete 180 by releasing BBHMM. I know she wants to be taken seriously as an artist which is why she initially promoted her R8 as timeless. She isn’t as respected as an artist as some of her peers and she probably wants to change that. I can respect that. I feel like if she had pressed on with singles that were in the same vein as FFS, people would’ve eventually caught on. But she went back to her old faithful which hurt her credibility a bit and made it seem like she was just chasing a hit again.

Without singles, Rihanna is nearly nothing. That’s her problem. Her career has been built on churning out hit single after hit single, without focus on the actual album. With some artists, even if the singles underperform, the album sales will still be fine because they have a dedicated fanbase who will buy albums.
That’s because those fan bases know they’re getting a quality body of work not one or two #1s(which may be trash themselves)and a bunch of filler.
Without singles, Rihanna has platinum albums and can pull off a career as a model or maybe a touring act seeing how she can sell out stadiums. Your shade has to make sense

She’s all over the place. I mean, she’s never really known her sound but come on! What demographic is she trying to appeal to????

Her peak been over her album sales have been constantly declining since Good Girl Gone Bad. Facts Only.
She’s so inconsistent in terms of sales.
What direction is she going in this era?
She has none. The Navy were going HAM on Beyonce in 2013 when she had not released one song off her album and knew very well what she was doing. Now their b**** is throwing wack songs out like dart pins hoping they will hit the target spot they’ve got all the excuses in the book.

She’s a sellout. She was originally a Reggae/Dancehall artist and sold out to Pop & Dance because that was popping at the time. She then tried to capture any look, genre & style to make cash off of the general public, and now that the 8th era is around she’s run out of tricks to pull. She’s having an identity crisis much like many of her gender-confused stans.

She wanted to back classics but America Xygen is unmastered, BBHMM is a bamger but about nonsense and I have nothing to say about FFS! truth is in todays generation you’ll only get the LOYAL stans to purchase their faves music, and every-damn-body knows that black people ain’t buying s*** to do with music! The amount of sales that have declined over the years due to online leaks is crazy so at this point I don’t think album sales matter anymore! If a projects good and you like it just enjoy it, you ain’t gotta be checking to see how many it’s sold first week and how long its took to go platinum. Spotify and Tidal don’t make it any better sales wise but from Tidal you do realise the artist themselves makes most of the money. So if R8 flops but you like the music appreciate it, same goes for any other album from any fave…
