Ciara‘s new album ‘Jackie’ is finally in stores! To celebrate and support the set, the Grammy winning singer has set sail on her aptly titled ‘Jackie Tour.’
Last night brought with it the first show at Chicago’s House of Blues.
Playing to a sold-out crowd, the 29-year-old served up electrifying performances of hits such as ‘Promise’ and ‘Goodies,’ and delighted with several new songs including ‘Dance Like We’re Making Love,’ ‘I Bet,’ and ‘That’s How I’m Feelin”.

The Aaliyah and Ciara comparisons were inevitable at the start of the latter’s career seeing that she shared the tomboy look with breathy vocals and dance moves which stood out amongst the more glamorous female R&B/Pop stars of that time (think Bey and J.Lo). Stage-wise, she and Baby Girl are NOTHING alike as Ciara moves with the energy and athleticism that could rival the best of her male dance contemporaries (prime Usher and present-day Chris Brown). Aaliyah was smoother and more laid back – it was a 90s thing. Ciara’s more like Janet – only more loose in her delivery of dance moves and draws more inspiration from street dancing. It’s so annoying when haters try to discredit her by saying stuff like, “Oh, she’ll never be Janet” blah, blah, blah. Sure, she may never see major commercial success again but she’s still here doing her thing and has ALWAYS given Janet her props as a Queen. I do wish Ciara’s career was bigger than what it is today but hey, superstardom ain’t for everybody.
