Madonna’s net worth more than 6x Janet. So if she WANTED her masters, she could get them…and wouldn’t need to marry a guy who was richer than her to acquire them. Perhaps the reason Janet was able to get her masters was because they were cheap to obtain. Hell, half her discography flopped. Madonna’s catalog, which has sold like 200-300 million more than Janet’s, would naturally be more expensive to acquire. And quit with the agism. It makes you look stupid, especially considering Janet is 50 and less than a decade years younger than Madonna. Best believe she’s in hot flashes now.

It’s way too much Janet bashing going on here BEFORE the second charting week of ‘No Sleeep’ officially even gets here. It’s debut came in at #67 on the charts, that’s quite rare to see for a woman damn near FIFTY … returning after a FIVE year break … that was blacklisted for TEN years. It’s a SOLO, R&B release that’s getting off to a better start than some pop-friendly singles! The song is a grower and it’s already making an impression on R&B airplay/charts. To ridicule Janet at this point (before live performances and a video) reeks of desperate and exposes so much insecurity.
Now all these people want to downplay Janet’s iconic status! Don’t keep forgetting that Janet’s released fewer albums than her peers! Her name pops up in the top 10 in just chart/feat imaginable. That remarkable for someone with such minimal work.

An early supporter of “No Sleeep,” adult R&B WDAS Philadelphia, played the track 22 times during the tracking week ending June 28. Derrick “DC” Corbett, the station’s director of urban programming, tells Billboard that the song “just felt like us. It’s a perfect summertime groove, and it’s rare when you hear a song and everyone’s opinion of the record within the building is ultra-positive. That, coupled with the fact that she’s an icon that we all grew up with, made it a no-brainer for us.
“We’re happy to be a small contributor to her success with [‘Sleeep’], and it’s exciting to have her back in the mix.”
The single arrived on June 22, a week after Jackson announced her Unbreakable World Tour, which is slated to kick off in Vancouver, B.C. on Aug. 31, with the first leg of North American dates planned through Nov. 13.
“No Sleeep,” produced by longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, previews Jackson’s upcoming studio album, due in the fall, her first since 2008’s Discipline.
I can’t with people doing their best to label Janet’s career a flop, but when you remind them about her accomplishments, they’re upset at your receipts! This song is actually doing better than I expected. I thought that Janet was going to give her 1st single major promotion, performances, video, the whole 9, and still not even make it to the charts. She did very little to nothing and it’s actually doing ok considering her age and little to no marketing. I LOVE the song. It’s s*** and seductive.
The negativity and disrespect on this blog is truly disgusting to me. We all have our opinions but the way it’s projected on this forum is truly sad and heartbreaking especially when’s its about Janet. Maybe Janet should’ve came harder with a better song but many of you don’t have to throw stones at her. The backlash she’s getting over ‘no sleep’ on social media I would even echoes some of the backlash she got after the super bowl back in 2004. I don’t think it’s realistic either to only release songs just for fans but obviously that’s gonna be somewhat common sense but in my opinion the song is very mature and it really draws more into Janet’s musical roots as an artist. Her signature sound is dance but dance music has evolved so much in the past 7 years that what Janet would bring may not really be helpful cause flashback to 2008 nobody bought her last record despite the number one on the hot 100. But I think the only way for this song to still have a standing is she needs to do more performances, yes her old songs but that’s only bringing nostalgia for everyone to listen to that and not her new songs. She just needs to go out there and promote the song harder cause all this chart news is excellent now but she needs to come harder on the promotional front I will say that.
