TIDAL may have tanked but it seems that it’ll take far more than to rain on Jay Z and Beyonce‘s parade.

Why? The couple have welcomed the release of the former’s brand new champagne.

Expensive details below…

Armand de Brignac’s “Ace of Spades” is a Jay-backed champagne which is being sold for $760 and finds its way to the world to join the long list of products the couple have launched since their respective debut albums.

Sound pricey? That’s because it is, designed to rival  Louis Roederer’s expensive Cristal champagne which was endorsed by Jay until he stepped out to call the company behind it racist in 2006.

Why?

Its managing director Frederic Rouzaud slammed Hip-Hop’s affinity with the beverage with the statement below in an interview with ‘The Economist.’

We can’t forbid people from buying it. I’m sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business.

The ‘Big Pimpin’ lyricist responded with:

It has come to my attention that the managing director of Cristal, Frederic Rouzaud, views the ‘hip-hop’ culture as ‘unwelcome attention.’

I view his comments as racist and will no longer support any of his products through any of my various brands, including the 40/40 Club, nor in my personal life. Louis Roederer would not have existed since 1776 without being totally open and tolerant to all forms of culture and art, including the most recent musical and fashion styles which – like hiphop – keep us in touch with modernity.

His “split” with Cristal would go on to inspire him to throw his support behind  Brignac and releases ‘Spades.’

Anyone who buys this product has no respect for himself, the champagne is synonymous of class, which is the opposite of this man, it’s like buying a Versace’s fragance backed by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, bye Armand de Brignac.

Oh America and it’s pornographic relationship with money and consumption and a psycho-pathological obsession with having THINGS. To be sure, $750 is 10 000 South African Rands! For an alcoholic beverage? To what end? I love a good life but Americans have to be sick in some way in order to glorify consumer products in such a disturbing manner. To live life for the sole purpose of accumulating money.

But what’s beyond curious is the fact that American’s (particularly and disturbingly my fellow African descendants in that country) are proud of the fact that they are a country which glorifies greed and only sees that those who should be respected are not people of service but those who have more money than anyone else. 315 milliom people fawning and lusting over 35 million people’s possessions. Apparently this country is the “greatest country in the world”. American exceptionalism they call. They accuse other countries of jealousy and envy at their very much ill-gotten economic wealth. But I think on closer inspection one finds it’s not envy, but it’s sympathetic fascination as to how on Earth is it possible that such a great number of human beings can value money so absolutely yet the avarage American can get blacklisted because they couldn’t pay their medical bill.
