Sam Smith is following in he footsteps of ‘He Won’t Go’ chanteuse Adele.

For, he’s only been handpicked by the minds behind James Bond movie empire to record a theme song for its latest offering, ‘Spectre.’

Epic news below…

He told Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw:

I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.

I got called into the office with Barbara Broccoli and Sam Mendes and they gave me the script, I read the script… they said ‘have a go at the song.’

The number will be the first Bond theme to be recorded by a British male soloist since 1965 and was co-written by his ‘Stay With Me’ collaborator Jimmy Napes.

Yas, I don’t think anyone else could pull off a bond song right now besides him other than queenga,

    • Queen Molly September 8, 2015

      QueenGa?

    • DEL BEY September 8, 2015

      CL definitely couldn’t

The film looks great and I am sure this song will only serve to boost his career to new heights. Congrats to him!

Yaass at my good Sis @The New Adele getting that 007 money. Slay Samantha!

All the bond songs are borning and dark. Yes sam smith can sing, but he’s so boring live and his songs are all about broken-hearted overly emotional gay relations. GAG.

Girl. get to the gym, leave mcdonalds breakfast alone and you can find a good man.

they should have chose a duet: john legend and mariah

    • Lea September 8, 2015

I agree he is boring and a bit overated imo. He also looks nasty. Mariah wouldn’t be able to perform it live at the Oscars, sorry.

      Dumb. He’s not fat anymore

When are you guys talk about Tamar Braxton album that was supposed to be coming this Friday I guess ain’t happening

  6. lolhart September 8, 2015

Very obvious choice. It will be some second rate Skyfall which was already second rate Shirley Bassey.

Wow, he’s really big now if he’s doing the James Bond theme. Adele better not think that her male counterpart wont give her any competition because he is claerly not playing any games with his second era. Let’s see if it’ll match the success of his first, though. Anyway, hands down, the best theme is…..you guessed it…..”Die Another Day”. I love the “American Life” album. It’s so underrated and a true gem.

  8. DEL BEY September 8, 2015

It should of been Lana Del Rey, she’s perfect for the theme

Ooh, yes! She would be great. Like that song she did for “Maleficent”. It would work perfectly.

  9. blue September 8, 2015

you kinda setting yourself up for a failure if you pick an artist for the theme instead of the song… Like get different artists to submit their songs then choice which ones best represents the mood of the movie.

How did you know that wasn’t already done?

  10. JOHNVIDAL September 8, 2015

Can be nice. But he won´t top Skyfall by any stretch of the imagination. Skyfall was fantastic and clearly one of the ebst Bond songs ever. Not to mention Adele was 20 times bigger than him two years ago too. That said, Adele struggled a lot singing it live at the Oscars. Barbra Streisand and Shirley did a better job than her with their performances that same year at 70 years old. Not to mention teh spectacular showing by Gaga this year.

This is unrelated, but have y’all seen Aaliyah’s performance of “One in a Million” for the MTV Spring Break special and All That Nickelodeon show? It was fire! Those vocals were on point and the s***, slow grind dancing did it for me! Yes! Two unforgettable performances from her. Check them out on YouTube.

    • Arv September 8, 2015

Aaliyah couldn’t sing live for s**t. Rihanna is a far better singer than Holiyah ever was… and thats not saying a lot.

For a gay guy he is so unattractive and fat .

    • CSAZ September 8, 2015

Oh really? So gay guys must be skinny and very attractive to be recognized? It’s so cliché… It’s because of people thinking that way that a lot of gays feel bad in their skin. You shouldn’t say things like that, are you a stereotype yourself? Anyway, you are who you are and that’s enough… open your eyes and change your mind.

  13. CSAZ September 8, 2015

I’m not surprised at all, Sam is so talented and his voice, his universe is perfect for it just like was Adele before. I’m sure this song will be amazing, no doubts!

I was happy with the format of female singers singing the bond theme back in the day, real divas. I would’ve liked to have seen Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, Beverly Knight, Joss Stone, Paloma Faith or Any Winehouse (before she died) sing the song, but i guess they want brits who have won grammys, known now and currently popular. If it was an American Artists i would’ve loved to have heard Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan or KeKe Wyatt or even JoJo
I guess i should be grateful its not Rita Ora
