I’m on the fence with this. On one hand, Rihanna does have a stronger and more unique tone to her voice than Ciara but her technique and upkeep is lacking. You’d think she would have developed her vocals consistently considering she isn’t that big on dancing but she’s another lazy one who’d much rather smoke than practice scales. So while she’s a better singer than Ciara, it’s not by some incredibly wide margin.
Actually she does. While Rihanna is no powerhouse vocalist, she does have some power and weight in her voice. I agree that she has a unique tone and she can sing in different tones; sweet in songs like ‘Only Girl in the World’ and smokey and velvety lower registers like in ‘California King Bed’ and Drake’s ‘Take Care’. You can also distinctively tell the differences between Rihanna’s vocal registers i.e. head voice, chest voice, falsettos etc. No of the aforementioned apply to Ciara. Her voice is still as dull and mundane as it was, with no signs of growth.
Rihanna has several credible performances vocal wise. Ciara has none. Her on stage antics are tiresome and no longer blocking the fact she sounds like Casper. Rihanna just picks and chooses when she wants to deliver or partially deliver. Ciara try’s hard and still ends up sounding like she auditioning for a high school musical.
Ciara looks so beautiful in that tennis apparel! She already has the slim, s*** body of most female tennis players, so she looks great with that outfit….looking like she was going to slay a match after slaying that performance.
She should take this momentum and release an album in the first quater of next year. With the 3 singles. The lead being a dance craze hit, the second being a DUET and the 3rd sounding like “gotta be you” with a feature.

Let me start off with a positive note. Ciara looked GORGEOUS with her slicked back ponytail and tennis dress. With her tall, lean, athletic frame, she pulled off the sporty look effortlessly 🙂 In addition, I commend her for taking care of her instrument in the 10+ years that she’s been at it. I give her more credit than her male dance diva counterpart, Chris Brown, who actually started out as the more promising singer but got lazy with training his voice and got into smoking. However, Ciara has to understand what her lane is. Majority of her televised performances this era have been more wannabe Whitney than student of Janet Jackson. In my honest opinion, she simply does not have the tone, power or range to pull off these slow songs. A lot of her notes in this performance were off. All in all, I do think she’s shown some improvement over the years but girl, I wanna see you set a stage on fire with sick choreography!!!

Singing has never been Cicada’s passion. There’s no videos or mementos of him trying to capitalize and do what he supposedly loves. It has not contributed one thing musically and/or in pop culture. Cicada will fade away into nothingness and nobody will remember it. 🙂

Her past 4 flops are less than 200K each, 500K all 4 added. WACKie only sold 60K and 100k WW, WORLD WIDE!!! That’s p1ss poor, YES album sales are low, but her singles aren’t doing any better. Body Party was the r&B hit of that summer and it’s still to this day only gold, thanks to streaming. Dance Like My Album Didn’t flop peaked on the BB Hot 100 at #100.

Clear she doesn’t believe that because she keep doing this. Janet, Madonna and so many other limited singers would NEVER do this. It’s not like she’s even pushing to sing better, she’s using her veru airy head voice when she has a better chest voice. When she’s not off key, she’ll hit verse 1 and 2 and the 3rd would come out flat and airy. I know the diff between weak, light, rich and strong voices and Ciara checks the first two… every time. BRandy isn’t a powerhouse, Aaliyah wasn’t, Jenny Echo or whatever her name is, isn’t as well. But they can sing in their range, they know their range. Ciara’s rangs is as short as Queen Molly’s D***.

You know…ima just not..its sad because im a 90s baby who grew up and was taught about the great vocalist. I actually like Ciara but i wont lie and say she has this amazing voice.in my opinion she was mediocre and one of her backup singers was the vocal star of the show.she gets gigs now which is probably due to the Wilson exposure….i guess my problem is like when youve had an expensive dinner vs dollar menu items. You cant go back satisfied.i cant listen to singers butcher songs when ive heard Whitney,Mariah,Patti,Beyonce etc vocally SLAY. Even singers with not such great range but perfect pitch are great with me.
First let me say that Ciara has blossomed into a beautiful woman. She stunningly gorgeous damn! Now onto those vocals…no, just no. She started off flat and continued into a rollercoaster of sharp notes and pitchiness. I’m not one who believes that you have to holler and hit whistle notes on every song in order to be a great vocalist, but this performance just wasn’t it. While her vocals have improved since she debuted, she could use a lot of work. Good luck Cici.
