The ongoing legal battle with Cash Money’s Birdman and Young Money’s Lil Wayne has taken a turn for the worst today.
For, in legal documents unearthed by the publication TMZ a letter reportedly written Nicki Minaj‘s camp supports Wayne’s claims that Birdman is guilty of stealing from his artists.
A surprising development below…
Wayne leads the Young Money music group which houses Minaj, ‘Hotline Bling’ purveyor Drake and Kylie Jenner‘s boyfriend Tyga.
Cash Money is led by Birdman and houses Young Money and its stable of chart-topping artists.
Unfortunately, legal drama between the two camps have exposed a number of cracks in their respective machines now letters reportedly published on Nicki Minaj’s behalf add weight to Wayne’s claim that he and his artists are being stifled by Birdman’s business practices.
Young Money claims it was supposed to get a big chunk of a $100 million advance from Universal — an advance that went directly to Cash Money — and they’re still waiting.
But Cash Money says Wayne and company are full of it. They gave him a $20 million advance for Young Money in 2012, another $12 million for Wayne’s solo album and another $70 million in advances, royalties, marketing and recording costs for various Young Money artists.
Nicki’s people say in a separate letter her producers also got shortchanged by Young Money, and Wayne says it’s Cash Money’s responsibility to pay producers.
Minaj’s alleged claims come after a police report linked Birdman and his artist Young Thug to a plot allegedly hatched to murder Wayne.
