    1. I saw a list on Twitter Nicki literally submitted everything she’s done…she wants this bad
    2. I LOVE Beyoncé but 7/11 in Song and Record of the year….hmmm it’s crazy enough to work
    3. Taylor’s generic pop album better not win album of the year.
    4. Madonna’s Rebel Heart is a solid album, her best since Confessions On A Dancefloor I would’ve wanted it to receive some recognition

    • LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES October 16, 2015

  5. Slay_Hive October 16, 2015

I can’t with some of these submissions…???????? really?

    • That LND Girl October 19, 2015

Exactly @Slay_Hives… Was Nicki thinking about The Grammys when she made The Pinkprint, because it doesnt seem the slight bit worthy for a nomination let alone a win.
Rihanna & Beyonce can also miss me with the 7/11 and BBHMM submissions. And then there’s Fetty Wap

  6. BeyIsKing October 16, 2015

There’s no way Beyoncé lost to Beck last year on the grounds that he is a ” better artist” only for Taylor to win this year. The album is nothing special. Great sales and chart positions don’t make the quality of music in an album good.

    • MadonnaThaDinosoaur October 16, 2015

      It’s called vote splitting
She would have won if Pharrell wasn’t nominated or if another rock act was nominated

I’m not pressed at why ya’ll hate Taylor or any pop star…… This is a Urban blog so ya’ll probably listen to RnB so I trully undersatand……..

  14. JuJu October 16, 2015

The grammys should not be about sales. If a guy named Beck can win, then Ciara deserves a shot with Dance Like We’re Making Love.

  15. Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 16, 2015

My lovely black women – especially Ciara, K. Michelle and Nicki – SUBMIT your ENTIRE albums to the committee. Don’t be pressed if you’re not nominated for something when you had the chance to hand in those gems for consideration. I want to see these women win, despite their obstacles. Come on, and “win, win, win no matter what!”

  16. jdek October 16, 2015

    Nicki submitted everything.

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 16, 2015

Rightfully so too. This is the Grammy’s. You better come hard and win/lose like a boss, or stay home and complain about how you should’ve submitted this and that and blah blah didn’t deserve to win. She’ll win something, I’m sure. I just hope that “T.D.G.” gets nominated for something. A performance of the song would definitely help it chart too.

Didn’t “Glory” clean up at the Oscar’s and Grammy’s last year? Have a seat, Common and John Legend. Y’all had your chance already with the song, and obviously it was a BIG winner. Give someone else a chance at winning and stop messing around milking that song to death another year.

  20. shakira stan October 16, 2015

And alquelda I mean Janet Jackson can have several seats ..this isn’t 1970 anymore.

    • Thetruthemeritus October 16, 2015

That’s Ms.Jackson to the likes of you. Let’s not forget her album debuted #1 on Billboard. One of 3 women to have a #1 album 4 decades consecutively.

Where’s Shakiras’s not nomination(s)? Is she out in the middle of nowhere helping Pique not blow his cover again by staying in the closet, which all his Soccer “buddies” know? Janet is unbothered and WATCH her clean up at Next year’s Grammy’s, meanwhile Shakira’s too busy planning her next World Cup hostage.

      • Shady81 October 16, 2015

You mean 2017 Grammys not 2016 because she’s only nominated in two categories for No Sleeep W/ J.Cole, In the Song and Record of the year Categories.

Where’s Kanye, Mr. Grammy’s collector at in these submissions? He probably doesn’t care about them anymore. I don’t blame him. He already has more than some artists will ever get to touch in their careers.
    ______________________________
I love Bjork, but why is she FOOLING herself and feeling confident enough to submit for the AOTY and ROTY categories? She KNOWS she won’t make the cut, receive those nominations, and definitely win. She should know better by now to not play around with hope and fate like that. That’s how some people get their feelings hurt

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 16, 2015

The fact that Bjork has never won a Grammy, after being nominated 13 times, should tell us how full of absolute $h!t the Grammys actually are. Bjork is the definition of original but they award the derivative year after year. It’s exhausting at this point.

      • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 16, 2015

Absolutely spoke the truth! Who the hell else can say that they recorded an Entire album with nothing but raw, unfiltered, untouched vocals that served as the main instrument for the project. That women used her own damn voice to create beats and instrumentals. Who else is that creative? Plus, the fact that she has hits for DAYS in the U.K. speaks her power and respect, even from Jay-Z, in the industry.
        ______________________________
Kylie Minogue needs to be nominated for “Sexercize” because that song is everything. I’ll never forgive the Grammy’s for sleeping on “Impossible Princess” and the “X” album of hers too.

I feel the exact same way with Nas. Considered by many (including myself) the greatest rapper of all time and has what is considered by many (including myself) the greatest rap album of all time and has never won a Grammy. Absolute joke of a “prestigious” award ceremony

@Arianator Barb, Please speak it into existence, truth server! “Illmatic” SAVED Hip-Hop and breathed new LIFE into music lovers. That album was everything and more. 34. Beyond Amazing (Cause Bey Really Is!!) October 16, 2015

So sick of seeing the same old names in everything & winning everything – it’s bizarre how the industry goes with “popular” over talent (tho i suppose you could argue that’s why it’s called “Pop” – but then I’d argue so what about the “music” bit ROFL)! Anyway, thank GOD Rap & Urban/RnB have their own special criteria or I’m pretty sure Swifty would win those too. Oh yes, she will “sweep the awards” no doubt. Whether or not she deserves to.

Nice to see a few criminally under-rated artists in the mix (eg Adam Lambert, tho I doubt he’ll get the nod he deserves). Also yay for Ed Sheeran, George Ezra & Demi Lovato.

Stonemilker (11months before) by bjork is the most beautiful song ever recorded. I Am thrilled it is being considered as song and record of the year as well as vulnicura for album of the ear! Bjork<3 so underated it's a crime

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 16, 2015

“Vulnicura” is a spellbinding album. It.is.brilliant. It absolutely deserves an album of the year nod. I encourage everyone to grab a pair a good headphones and indulge in its magic. Like you said, it is criminal how the Grammy academy has treated this truly iconoclastic artist.

      • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 16, 2015

Can you believe that she was with that man for 13+ years and he never married her? What type of foolishness and childish game is that? Well, if they never broke up, she would’ve never been able to create “Vulnicura”, so I guess it served its purpose well. Oh, and even though alot of people don’t like “Volta”, I love the fact that she stepped out of her comfort zone, which doesn’t even exist for her, and worked with Timbaland to create that gem, “Earth Intruders”. “Declare independence” is a bop too.

    • Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans October 16, 2015

That title of the song alone will peak your interest and make you curious to listen to it and find out what the hell a “Stonemilker” is. She is the queen of intellectual stimulation. I love “Atom Dance” and it is a freaking crime that “Crystalline ” wasn’t nominated for a Grammy with those vivid, imagery-encouraging lyrics and infectious baseline, xylophone, glitch beat.

  62. Florida Evans October 17, 2015

When it dropped on January 9th I said it better win a Grammy. “Reality Show” is a dope album–period. She deserves this.

The R&B song submissions are great! These categories are always better than the pop categories anyway. So are the alternative rock categories.

In terms of the Pop Vocal submissions, Adam, Florence, Chvrches, Lana, and Mark Ronson would be a great category. There’s a certain “someone” who will be nominated (and win) and make the category basic though.

  63. cocobutta October 17, 2015

  64. Realist October 17, 2015

I hate to tell everyone this, but the grammy’s will be dominated by Mark Ronson “Uptown Funk”. So none of our faves will be checked for unfortunately FYI.

  65. Rosie October 17, 2015

Death at Lana submitting High By The Beach
I’ll just be happy with her getting a nomination out of left field like she did with Paradise.
She and Interscope need to do better after being stupid and submitting UV to Pop Vocal instead of Alternative last year where she had a legitimate chance at winning.
And LMAO at Disclosure submitting to Pop Vocal. Jamie XX has Dance/Electronic Album on lock now, I think. Also hope CHVRCHES get in for Best New Artist.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 17, 2015

You know I would love it if our girl Lana could get best pop vocal for “Honeymoon” but it just looks unlikely. *sigh*

Best New Artist- Chvrches or FKA twigs I would be very happy with.

& you’re right about Jamie XX, he’s getting it. I loved that album.

      • Rosie October 17, 2015

Forgot to mention Twigs, she was totally snubbed last year. Mess.
Like I said, Lana could come in out of nowhere like she did with Honeymoon, but it looks unlikely. And Jamie XX is a lock unless they b******* in this category and give it to Jack Ü, but based on last year’s results I’m sure Jamie is winning.
Hope Sufjan Stevens wins Alt Album! His label is dumb for not submitting to AOTY since they always put in some random indie/folk/alt act every year (last year it was Beck). This year it would’ve been down to him and Alabama Shakes for that spot. Most acclaimed album of the year after TPAB.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 17, 2015

They better not try it with Jack Ü but this IS the Grammys that we are talking about so it’s certainly not beyond them. LOL!

Great pick with the Sufjan Stevens album. I think he will definitely be up against Tame Impala’s “Currents.” Gotta be honest, I like it (Currents) but I don’t love it. I can’t wait to see this category.

This was the category last year:

Alt-J – This Is All Yours
      Arcade Fire – Reflektor
      Cage the Elephant – Melophobia
      Jack White – Lazaretto
      St. Vincent- St. Vincent

If only the AOTY category could match this quality every year.

      • Rosie October 18, 2015

Yes, Alt Album, the one category that isn’t a popularity contest (or else Alt-J/Arcade Fire would’ve beat St. Vincent last year). This year is shaping up to be:
Sufjan Stevens – Carrie & Lowell
        Tame Impala – Currents
        Bjork – Vulnicura
Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Sit And Think…(etc)
Father John Misty – I Love You, Honeybear (I think this was submitted)
These are the five big “acclaimed” indie albums this year in the US. If it was up to me I would replace Courtney with Depression Cherry by Beach House; I find her overrated (Didn’t help that Sirius XMU played her music every 10 minutes all spring/summer).

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare October 18, 2015

I cannot put into words how much I love “Depression Cherry.” I can’t even listen to the new album (WTH) yet because I’m simply not done digesting DC yet.

The category you listed for Alt-album is phucking brilliant! I haven’t heard the Courtney Burnett record yet but the other 4 are definitely worthy. Either of them could win and I would be totally satisfied.

I hope they don’t disappoint us too much. I’ll see you here at nomination time to vent any frustration. 😀

  66. Mr ???? October 17, 2015

What the doodoo is Ring Off doing anywhere on the Grammy list? And this is coming from a bey fan. Lets not even get on to ciara ‘s submissions…

  67. Team Melissa B October 22, 2015

Interesting. That you don’t mention all the indie artists that made the ballot as well like Melissa B . She is up for three considerations

    1 Best new artist
    2. Best pop solo performance
    3. Song of the year

She just performed at Carneige Hall with to great Grammy members. You should see her video Maria that’s up for consideration. It’s for all the women in the world .
