‘Unbreakable,’ the diva’s first album in over seven years, will officially open at #1 on tomorrow’s edition of the Billboard 200 – it has been confirmed.
How much did the ‘No Sleeep’ led set sell to achieve the feat? Find out below…
According to Hits Daily Double, the LP – which reunites Jackson with longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis – sold 106,000 in physical sales and 112,000 (when factoring in streaming).
The numbers place Jackson atop of the coveted US tally by quite a margin; indeed she sold almost three times that of nearest competition – Tamar Braxton‘s ‘Calling All Lovers.’ That project shifted 37,000 copies.

I usually don’t write on these boards. I usually stop by and read all the comedy. But, I wanted to offer my insight. I adore Madonna, Beyonce, and Janet and have cherished all of their music in different ways. They each have helped me in my life in some way so I am thankful for their ballads and dance tracks. Now… any artist (ROCK, RAP, POP, SOUL, etc.) who can emerge from the shadows after a 7 year hiatus (with promo or without promo)and manage to the debut their album at #1 deserves some respect. My goodness…that is extremely impressive! It shows the power of brand and consumer loyalty to an artist. Janet is a strong brand. This will be true for any artist that can manage to be around after 4 decades. At the end of the day, what lingers on in our hearts and minds will not be the sales of an artist but the Quality of music. I wish continued blessings and success to all artists known and unknown.

All I have to say is congrats to Tamar on debut in the top 5. But anywho I’ve read alot of comments and so far there are a coupl trolls on here acting extremely pressed and screaming about how Madonna sold more. So f****** what the difference is Madonna has a label backing her, Janet doesn’t she has her own label so basically Janet is her own backing minus BMG her parent company but still she has her own label so she is the first artist on her Rhythmn Nation record label to have a number 1 album and that is very impressive many of these artists are slaves to these record companies with the execs telling them what to do and only go home with a small percentage. Janet doesn’t have to worry about that she’s her own boss and she hasn’t released an album since Discipline in 2008 the only other artists that I know in the R&B realm who was on a major hiatus and was out longer then Janet is Sade and she was out for 10 years and came back and sold with impressive numbers and she didn’t promote either she just went straight on and tour leaving nothing but her name to sell her album and Soilder of Love went straight to number 1 so don’t give me that bull about so and so didn’t have competition because Sade was going up against this generations artist. If the consumers want to hear real music that has substance and mean something then they will buy it and it has the means to sell and be at the top slot I congratulate artist such as Sade, Janet and many others whom stay true to themselves and true to there formula of original music which tends to win overall to me artistry, originality, foundation, true form, and there legacy speaks in higher volume then gimmicky I wished Madonna stayed true to her self, but I guess she was the whole entire time because if Controversy wasn’t attached to what she does then she wouldn’t be able to sell a damn thing, Congrats to Janet and giving us fans back the former her that we missed for so long and making new fans along the way.

The album (at least the first half) is so good. DAMMMMNNN Baby sounds like a DJ Mustard beat, but it really sounds like a 80’s and 90’s R&B song. Should’ve Known Better is EDM, but in a dance music way, not what the others are doing now. She stayed true, yet current the RIGHT way. This is what I want from MooMoo. As for any artist pre orders refer to albums sales that were made to the general public on a specified date. Website sales are tricky as they must go through a verification process before being counted and ALL individuals who purchased must have received their physical copy (which also need verification. In other words, many of you haters will be very upset when pre sale website numbers are made public…….prepare yourself now
