Roc Nation‘s roster just got quite the boost – courtesy of Emeli Sande.

Already home to the likes of Rihanna, Rita Ora, and Kanye West, the major music ark has welcomed the British singer-songwriter aboard.

Full story below…

From 2011 to 2013, Sande was omnipresent on the UK charts – earning three #1 singles (with hits such as ‘Next To Me’) and spent seven consecutive weeks atop of the album tally with 2012’s ‘Our Version of Events.’

A US launch was teased (and softly attempted) on the back of her success on home-soil, however the star somewhat vanished from the spotlight following her divorce.

After a lengthy spell away, Sande returned to Instagram explaining the necessity of her absence and confirmed that has inked a deal with Jay Z‘s Roc (posing with Jigga, Jay Brown, and Ty Ty Smith from the imprint in the snap above).

Emeli, in her words, below…

I’ve been away so long because I desperately needed to experience real life. To pop my bubble and learn how to live, how to breath , to embrace self love & become completely comfortable, certain & proud of the woman I had become.
Being a musician has been my one and only dream from when I was 6 .That intense focus helped me achieve my goals but also took me far away from living. I’d never broken any rules, never had a teenage rebellion or taken the time to explore myself as a human being away from music.

Let’s just say the past 3 years have been my crash course in life and It’s been an intense journey full of tough decisions and emotional living , but the outcome has been so so beautiful. I feel free , honest and finally , fully AWAKE!!! Ruth Titmarsh has supported me from day zero..From 2 people in the audience in camden & top and tailing in a single bed for the “Diamond rings” promo , she’s always been a believer! With no financial incentive she never let me give up on myself and her loyalty & support I feel in my SOOUUL!!! I love my former manager, he had been a father figure to me since I moved to London at 16, we had such an incredible journey together. I’m so thankful to him & his family for all their love and support & I’m immensely proud of what we achieved together. As I grew & changed rapidly from a girl into a woman though, I felt I had to begin to find the perfect match for me at this stage in my life & career.

Ruth and I formed a management company (Jupiter management) and we have joined forces with Roc Nation. I feel excited, energised and surrounded by a team that makes me feel loved , respected and fully understood. My parent’s blessing was the icing on top!
The music is very real, it’s my diary over these past few years. The highs, the lows and everything in-between, I wanted to tell the whole truth with no decorations. I want us to meet for real this time.

I’m so excited to share my story with you, for those who have stuck by me and been waiting patiently – I see you!! Your love and support has helped me through! I want to make this music perfect for you and literally can’t wait to be back on stage giving you my all! [Source]

We love us some Emeli and have been patiently awaiting her return.

Given her sonic lean, it will be intriguing to see how she re-integrates into the current music climate; one that is very much dominated by fellow-Brit Adele.

I loved her album …Our Vision of Events which I felt was underrated at the time smh. She’s Britain and would thought she pop like Adele and Sam but of course we know how politics and showbiz do our black artists sadly.

I like Emilie but lets not forget the casualties of ROC nation like Bridget Kelly, who never got a release, Melanie Fiona who wasn’t promoted enough, The Sugababes who got dropped before the ink dried and also Kylie Minogue who jumped ship after a year when her album bombed.
I hope it works well for Emilie and she doesn’t lose her own craft and ends up just writing for Beyonce and Rita
Side note; I love Fantasia Side Effects of You which she wrote.

Melanie Fiona was not on Roc nation label it was just for management. Not every one who sign to roc nation gonna be big like beyonce and rihanna.

Emilie is still signed to Virgin Capitol RECORDS which is where she will and should stay.
She will co manage herself with ROC Nation.
Capitol s the reason her last CD went multiplatinum. They made Emile and Sam Smith a star.
They are a good record label since that Columbia Records boss took over in 2012
Jayz is good at management but not as a label boss……………………….
      They are too disorganized.
ROC Nation gave Rihanna the worst sales week of the yr as her album release date…..
She better stay at Capitol for label & use ROc as mgt.
Justine Skye needs to switch to ROC Nation as mgt too.

We’ll see what happens, but I say not a good move. Emeli’s name does enough work promoting her music, but a label really takes it up a few notches. Hopefuly Roc Nation can do this for her, and hopefully she’s not forgotten.
