Rest assured the week’s forecast will call for many-a-promotional pitstop for R&B veteran Monica as she hits radio, television, and more in support of her forthcoming project ‘Code Red.’

  2. Cheese_curls December 14, 2015

    Wow!
I’m so impressed by the way she was talking and really into the interview.
I’m part of the beyhive, but if queen bey could talk like that??

On the other hand, monica looks great.

Monica graduated with a 4.0 GPA and I think finished school at 16. So don’t drop out and you’ll be ok.

    • Chile Please!!! December 16, 2015

You will never hear Fleayonce speak with articulacy! That’s why you never see her do an interview special! She’s about dumb as the next blonde! If i’m not mistaken she didn’t graduate from High School?? Correct me If I’m wrong?

  3. Rrrrrr December 14, 2015

    Great interview

THAT INTERVIEW IS FIOOOOOOONNEEEE lmao & Monica is really pretty, too and she seems so benevolent and genuine. Brandy should take notes–I love B-Rockas music, but in a lot of her interviews she seems extremely, robotic, calculated, and uptight, plastic even. Idk I feel like she tries too hard to come off as perfect.

But back to Mo, I’m really loving all of the music she been putting out. I’m feeling this era! Her album will be one of the few that I’ll have bought in 2015.

Why should Brandy take notes? Brandy is Brandy and Monica is Monica! I don’t want anyone to adopt someone else’s persona, that’s what makes them distinctive. Brandy’s fun, energetic and sometimes too sensitive. Monica has always been mature, slightly serious and frank. It works for them and gives both their own identity! They’ve pretty much been this way from the beginning. I think people should enjoy what they enjoy from their favs and stop looking to tear down other artists while doing so.

    • Muffy December 15, 2015

I don’t get that from Brandy! She’s very polished but she’s also very bubbly, over the top and silly like she’s always been. Being “genuine” and “real” is being yourself and at 36 years old, I’m sure Brandy is herself!

    • Dev December 15, 2015

I don’t agree, i think it’s just different personalities. Monica presents as more sensible and Brandy more playful

  5. Kitty Puurrzz December 14, 2015

Monica is grade A class. She’s authentic, beautiful & REAL. I can’t wait to get my hands on this album. PS: Look how she gives Brandy props. Faaaarrrr from an insecure chick. She knows her & Bran are both R&B legends in this game. 20 years!!!

Wow! I love the interview. Let not forget that Mo was Snapping and leaning and rocking with it in 2006. What happened to R&B in the mid 2000s was that it was TOO close to rap/hip hop. You had Hip Hop and R&B in the eraly 2000s, then Crunk and B, then Snap N B and then EDM took over. Just bring something NEW to the table, R&B doesnt have A sound, it has MANY. Like Mo said, everyone in the 90s had their own sound and style.
    .
With that said, I’m glad R&b is back in the streets, I don’t care if it’s no longer main stream, cause I don’t listen to top 40. Tho Rihanna happend to top it time and time again. 🙂

That was a great interview. Tell you what, I’ll give it a test drive on Spotify, if it’s good, I’ll buy. So far what I heard is good.

  8. Musssiccc December 15, 2015

Great Interview! She is very well-spoken. I’m looking forward to Code Red. The title of the album already caught my interest before I heard any of the singles; without a doubt, I know she’s about to go in! I wish her the best of luck. We had Jazmine Sullivan release an amazing album earlier this year, now I’m waiting on Monica, Brandy and Fantasia to give me more of that real R&B!

  9. cocobutta December 15, 2015

When you are true to yourself you can speak cleanly, clearly, fluently without no false pretences.

Wonderful interview. What im proud about is her evolution into a WOMAN. My gurl had those ghetto days but always felt her genuine spirit.

RCA should watch her do these rounds as she deserves support video wise.

Brekkie Club interview releasing Wed, Wendy on Thurs im excited. TGJ team can we get a retro rewind for Mo please ?

  10. Rebecca S for Queen B & Princess Rih December 15, 2015

Great interview! One of the reasons why I love Monica, is because of her genuine quality, to top it off, she’s extremely talented and beautiful.

  11. DanYiel Iman December 15, 2015

Monica is very talented & I’m excited to listen to her MUSIC! I don’t compare #Singers to #Sangers…:-)

  12. Playtime December 15, 2015

I was thinking “im not watching this WHOLE interview ”
But she started talking and I was lured in.

So relaxed and smart. Love that high respect she has for her genre and fellow artist, especially Brandy.

  13. Meteorite December 15, 2015

Mad respect for Monica! Smart and Talented.

  14. Janice December 15, 2015

I screamed when she said that she was a huge jessie j fan, but didn’t said anything about ariana and even said that if there was a remake, it should be done by other people. Someone who’s dope. LOL

  15. Muffy December 15, 2015

The Brandy vs Monica stan wars are sooooo 1999. Side note: could you imagine if blogs and the Internet was popping back then? The stan wars would be EPIC, lol.

Both B-Rocka and Mo have 20+ years under their belts & they’re still young!! Both are still relevant, making music and booking stages. Neither are huge sellers anymore but they are well respected and the voices are still in mint condition. Where are the other females who came and went throughout the years? Exactly, working at Sears or trying to get a reality show.

We should show these QUEENS more respect.

  16. Muffy December 15, 2015

    I can’t wait for #CodeRed and #ZoeEverAfter

  17. True Lambily December 15, 2015

Great interview Monica is such a Lady!!

  18. Dev December 15, 2015

It’s funny, although i know Monica’s Angel of Mine i preferred the U.K’s girl group Eternal’s version

    • Kitty Puurrzz December 15, 2015

Monica made it a hit. No one even knows who those other girls are.

  19. Kitty Puurrzz December 15, 2015

    Monica’s spirit .

  20. Ciah’s Turtle December 15, 2015

    A Class Act

  21. #JACKIE December 15, 2015

Monica is classy and pretty but her music does nothing for me sorry.

    • DozenRoses December 15, 2015

Nice of you to compliment her.
We all have varied tastes so no need to say sorry. Congrats to Ciara’s song I bet.

  22. DozenRoses December 15, 2015

    Love her

  23. Tehara December 15, 2015

    Alex Miranda is too cute.

  24. 4everBrandy_Ci December 15, 2015

I respect her and it shows artists have appreciation for one another!!! This is how the fanbases need to interact as well. There’s too much of this “competition” and throwing “shade” today. People need to supoort and enjoy the music. Monica really is a veteran in her own right I will be checking out “Code Red”. I see you Monica!!!!

  25. Maluce December 15, 2015

I’ve always respected Monica becausw of her demeanor and persona but I had the opportunity to meet her at her show recently and I must say she was so f-ing sweet in person. Always a fan of Mo.

  26. TJ December 18, 2015

My Code Red Review: Yessssssss. This album is soulful, gritty, ambitious, and delivered vocal brilliance . This album is exquisite body of work. Classic yet contemporary. Indeed Miss Thang Reloaded! Bravo for your efforts at saving R&B MRS. MONICA BROWN.
