Vocal powerhouse Celine Dion has been notable in her silence following the January 14th passing of her husband and longtime manager Rene Angelil.
The 73-year-old bravely battled throat cancer for several years, yet sadly succumbed to the effects of the illness.
Now, one week after his State funeral, Dion has issued a formal statement.
Her words below…
“My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days. We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time… more than you’ll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I would also like to sincerely thank the Quebec Government for honoring René with National Funerals as well as the many individuals and organizations who came together to hold such a beautiful tribute in his name.
We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us.”

I feel terrible for them. It feels terrible to lose somebody who is very close to you. I certainly know the feeling twice over. Lucky for them, they still have their mother in their life. That is still a blessing. Thoughts with the family, especially children.
A May/December romance that was actually REAL and not conjured up for career advancement, which is why it lasted decades, as opposed to just a few years. Celine wasn’t a golddigger or his trophy wife.
She must be devastated.
One of the realest and longest marriages I´ve seen in any famous person ever. Plus she lost one of her brothers two days after losing her husband. Surprised TGJ didn´t mention that.
Not that it matters now, but I think she was supposed to release a new French album already this year. It could still happen cause she already knew this was coming soon. It´s like they decided keep working would be the next way to keep going.
