I prefer Beyonce but a collaboration with both would shut EVERYTHING down. But Im sure once it came out everyone would still be comparing who slayed who vocally, dancing and who looked hotter.
I’m not here for it. I like them separate. As far as her career, Rihanna is a big enough star, worldwide, that she really doesn’t need a Beyonce in her life to put her (or keep her) into that upper echelon. Rihanna’s already there. And her business savvy (just judging this year’s projects alone) is gonna keep her there for a while now.
As for her artistry, I just don’t see them meshing well musically. Not because Beyonce’s gonna supposedly outshine Rih (they’ve shared the stage before and Rihanna held her own), but it just seems like sometimes Beyonce sings like she’s in a pageant and Rihanna sings like she’s in the club. They also have about 5-6 years between them. For me, it would just feel like an auntie/niece combo on stage…just weird. Add to that, that over the years Beyonce has been more than willing to swerve into Rihanna’s lane in terms of persona/swag, than Rihanna has been willing to assimilate ANYONE else’s “thing” into her own brand. It would just seem like a Rihanna co-sign of ratchet/hood “Beyonce”, than provide any real benefit to Rihanna’s brand.
That being said, I’m definitely looking forward to whatever Beyonce drops this year. I’ve supported her since Destiny’s Child and plan on continuing to do so. But tryna put these two ladies together, or Rihanna with ANY other female artist (probably besides M.I.A. or Santigold or Azealia Banks if she wasn’t tripping) is just a bad idea. Rihanna’s music, vibe and persona is just so firmly planted in her OWN lane. That’s why it’s so laughable when other female artists try to do their best Carribean-Pop music, Good Girl Gone Bad “transformation”, IDGAF persona, Rihanna reactionary .gif imitation, or whatever.
