Rihanna has finally revealed the video for ‘Work’ – the lead single from her embattled ‘ANTI’ album.
Directed by X, the visual naturally features guest star Drake, who the 28-year-old siren wines and grinds on throughout the duration of the clip.
Following an aggressive launch, which saw the song played on mainstream radio every-hour-on-the-hour, the track has taken off- both digitally and on the airwaves.
With its video now available for streaming, will it be enough to push the Caribbean-kissed cut to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 where its current peak is #4?
Watch below and let…us…know!
Kudos where due; the video compliments the sound of the song exquisitely.
From the moody mise en scène (which borrows from Janet Jackson’s ‘Got Til It’s Gone’) to the Dancehall dipped choreography, Rih scores a win with this one. Indeed, where her talent lacks, her visuals oftentimes make up for it – this being no exception.
In a rare move, she pulls off the innovative by combining two videos in one. [Editor’s note: Smart Olivia Pope-ing as clearly two separate videos were shot)
The song (especially the hook) leave a lot to be desired, but there’s little to fault here.
With #1 in reaching distance, it’d be great to see her punch onto ‘Kiss It Better’ ASAP with an equally compelling video to boot.
