As evidenced at last night’s BRITs, Rihanna has recovered from the “bronchitis” which caused her to sit out the Grammy Awards.
However, despite a guest feature on Drake’s #1 single ‘Work,’ ticket sales for the the star’s ‘ANTI’ trek don’t appear to have received an immediate lift.
So much so that the jaunt, which has been plagued by reports of so-so sales, is now selling tickets at a radically discounted rate.

A student at Seton Hall University (SHU) shared that tickets to the New Jersey stop of the tour are being made available to her institution for just $10. Yes, ten dollars.

This news comes after tickets to almost all US dates were up for grabs in an Ellen show contest.

At this point, the disconnect between Rih’s status as a singles seller and ability to put people in seats is more apparent than ever.
The real question here, though, is whether the $10 is actually for the bus fare?

My question to these bloggers would be, since you’re moonlighting as journalists, why not ask investigative questions? CLEARLY something is going on in Camp Rih that needs immediate attention. I feel she should def. clean house, evaluate her circle, and question management. It’s almost as if Anti in itself is set up to mark an Anti-Rihanna era. Weird how that’s working out.

Starting to think the people (or rather the Rihanna haters) that post here have NEVER went to college. At both institutions I went to (large White state college & HBCU), our student unions had deals with HUGE artists’ concerts regularly. And, yes, the tickets were $10.
The college student deal DOES NOT mean the actual artist or venue is ACTUALLY selling tickets for $10. Don’t know Seton Hall’s requirements, but guessing from my experience in TWO different colleges, I’ll guess that they’re about the same as mine were.
RESTRICTIONS on events like this are usually:
1) Ticket deal available ONLY to CURRENT students of THAT PARTICULAR SCHOOL (they ask for proof)
2) LIMITED supply (usually less than 100 tickets)
3) ONE ticket ONLY per student
In my experience, the tickets are usually the upper seats. And even though you save money on ticket price, you still end up buying about $100 or so in merch anyway.
Actually, I’m really glad Rihanna’s doing this. Especially since she’s becoming more experimental in her music and leaning away from major Pop Bops. GREAT way for her to expose her artistry and possibly gain new fans. Especially ones that currently have disposable time to stan and will later have disposable income to buy her music, concert tickets, concert merch, and ever-growing line of FENTY branded products.
People REALLY need to respect Rihanna’s genius! Listen to her new “sound”, look at her new style direction, watch her on the movie screens (‘HOME 2015 & ‘Valerian’ 2017), check her copyrights, look up her ASCAP/BMI, applaud her opening THREE SUCCESSFUL business in ONE year (2015: Westbury Road Entertainment, FR8ME, A Dog Ate My Homework), becoming “the FIRST BLACK (some of everything)”, etc, etc, etc…
Rihanna’s NOT shrinking or falling off. She’s GROWING and BRANCHING OUT! People with a myopic focus filtered through negativity usually don’t notice that though. They just, one day, notice that when they look at her they have to hold their heads up much higher and turn it all around just to be able to “see” her and her impact on the industry, culture, fashion, Blackness and womanhood.

This kind of pricing is typical at US colleges/universities. The schools use money from the students’ activity fees to subsidize ticket prices. This is not necessarily an indication of Rihanna’s demand. I’m not a Rihanna stan by any means but I thought I’d clear things up a bit.
When I was a student at Penn State, I was able to see Kanye West and Keisha Cole at discounted prices because Penn State subsidized the ticket prices. This is a pretty common practice.

Possibly. This era has been all over the place. I have enjoyed Rihanna’s music in the past, but I got a bad feeling when she released Four Five Seconds and BBHMM. Very weak singles that didn’t play to her strengths. It all kind of went downhill from there…mishap after mishap. That’s just my personal opinion though.

Not surprised. My friend got a free ticket to the Diamonds tour through her University, because sales were so low that Live Nation started giving them out like a lemonade stand. She ended up trying to sell it on online, because she likes Rihanna but thinks she’s an awful performer – and she still couldn’t get rid off it. I convinced her to buy a MCWTS ticket, and she says it was the best concert she’s ever been to. KIII and she’s not even a fan of Bey, but afterwards she became one. OOPS!

I think it’s unfair to compare Rihanna’s tours to the other Beyonce simply because Rihanna averages around 90 shows, while Beyonce average about 100ish. Beyonce did 132 shows her last tour.

Most of her shows are at 85% compacity here in Europe and she has yet to promote asides from the BRITs award last night. This site x on say whatever but Rih has already cemented herself in history book and will continuing to do so.

I bought BOTH of my tickets for a little over $175 and I’ve been checking TicketMaster, LiveNation, and Stubhub like crazy to check on her prices and it seems like she’s playing games when it comes to how much the tickets cost.
