Tonight, it all came down to two Mississippi music makers – Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae.

Yet, while both delivered consistently strong showings throughout ‘American Idol’s 15th and final season, only one could be crowned the winner.

This ain’t America’s decision… Wack assss show… Glad this is it

History has proven that winning this show doesn’t mean ish. I’m kind of glad LaPorsha didn’t win (although she should have). The winner’s usually are the ones that are forgotten (minus Kelly and Carrie). Trent has a good voice but it’s too theatrical to be a recording artist. I’m sure he will have a supporting a role on Broadway and we will never see him again. This is just the beginning for LaPorsha though.

LaPorsha will be a star. Someone agency will grab her up. Jennifer Hudson did not even go the distance on AI outlook at her now. Besides Kelly Clarkson where are the other AI contestants? This dud will not make it because how his voice is (theatrical) who would want him as a mega star. LaPorsha will have a career just like Jennifer Hudson believe that people.

Carrie Underwood – The Best-Selling Country act of the 21st Century thus far.

Nonetheless, you’re right. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson are the only true stars to have come from the show at all. Fantasia and Adam Lambert are “up there” but they’re not as successful as the aforementioned three.

Fanny is way more successful than J hud. J hid won an Oscar for a role that always stood out. It wasn’t her, it was the role, hint Jennifer Holiday winning a Tony for the same damn role on Broadway. And just like J Hudson, her music career went nowhere, spending years singing the same one song. J hid is a great tribute singer tho. She’s like the go to person for that. Lol

Well, when you put it like that I guess you’re right. LOL.

Fantasia does have a more “stable” music career, per say, but on an international level I still feel that Jennifer Hudson is more famous, not to mention that she’s excelled/excelling in various forms of entertain outside of music. Fantastia and Jennifer Hudson are probably on the same level (in music) but I think Jennifer Hudson is a more famous face and name (even if that is just due to ‘Dreamgirls’ and ‘A.I.A.T.Y’) and has more media prominence and is a bigger celebrity. I’m from Europe; Spain and live here mainly (though I spend time in the States due to my dual citizenship because of my Dad) and I can assure you that Hudson is more known over here – ‘Spotlight’ is always on Spanish radio and talent show contestants here are always covering her songs.
What does annoy me about Jennifer Hudson though is her poor discography after her debut album; she’s digressed and it’s a shame.

Oh word? I’m sure J Hud names is bigger, but when it comes to album sales, Fanny out sold her each and every time. But you’re right, I forget that there’s a whole world out there. Sorry, being self centered is an american thing. lol

It doesn’t matter, he’ll just flop like all the others that came after Jennifer Hudson’s season.

  5. #JACKIE April 7, 2016

This show is for entertainment purposes only. No one cares about most of the winners/losers after the show ends.

  6. A&R April 7, 2016

So we will ignore the race factor in this?!?

  7. Tran anti no bloper honey love time but it okay girl April 7, 2016

    It entertainment show

  8. Rihboy April 7, 2016

I was so heartbroken! But I figured that since the suicidal rocker was voted out that his supporters would vote for Trent the next white one there. I don’t know how Clayton or whatever even made it as far as he did

Tha always been the rule, the most popular never wins. I think the title “helps” the unpopular winner and the popular runner up has a career off of their talent. Plus I thin AI just want a last time shock, cause I didn’t even know the final was tonight. I barley knew that it was even on. So long, you won’t be missed.

  10. ???Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??? April 7, 2016

Of course, they just couldn’t let her win and instead give it to the Will Ferrell looking twink. You know what? Madonna said “Let it Will Be”, and I intend to take heed to her advice I’m beyond over the crap from white America.

    • Annalise April 8, 2016

NOT ‘Will Ferrell looking twink’!!!! LMFAOOOO

      • ???Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??? April 8, 2016

Girl, I’m not right today! Lol!

  11. F April 8, 2016

This is exactly the reason this show should end, the past winners are all in the same lane, Trent has a good voice but LaPorsha delivered every single time, hope she has a successful career

  12. Citi April 8, 2016

Neither will be successful. Laporsha can’t really sing outside her nasal little range and her runs. And she has no stage presence. She always looks unhappy. Trenton will prob have 1 hit single. Look at Candace Glover, poor thing.

  13. MJ April 8, 2016

    Thanks for spoiling it TGJ!!!

    • SoFresh April 8, 2016

I know right. I was gonna look at it on Hulu or demand today :-/

  14. MUSICHEAD April 8, 2016

He’s more marketable than she is right now anyway. The producers got what they wanted.

  15. Musika April 8, 2016

Another Southern white male peeyew! Glad I stopped watching this show after Jena Irene lost. Only grannies watch it nowadays.

  16. Caribbean Native April 8, 2016

I was out since they snubbed Amber Holcomb….. bye girl

  17. MusicFan103 April 10, 2016

I personally wanted Trent to win. I think bot hare talented vocally, but my issue with La’Porsha was that she was ONLY giving me R&B/Soul big belter. Nothing different. What I liked about Trent was he was giving me an eclectic Kelly Clarkson like diverse view into him as an artist. Meaning, you had the Country, Pop, Soul, R&B, etc. all from him. He was basically like a Justin Timberlake meets Sam Smith… and that is also what is currently selling to the masses. So no I wasn’t shocked he won, and I am happy he did. Of MANY of the WGWG winners, he to me was most deserving.

Like I like Phillip Phillips, but Jessica Sanchez was the more likely Idol winner of the two. I also did prefer Jena Irene over Caleb Johnson during that season.

Oh well, it honestly is a platform. It is never about winning. Its about using the spotlight you were given. So many signed people and winners from the show were dropped from their labels. So many NON-winners were given great deals and opportunities outside of the American Idol and related machine.

You must take the opportunity you were given and use it to your advantage. That is the entertainment industry, always!
