Fans of the late rapper Tupac are mourning this morning after it was confirmed that his mother Afeni Shakur has died aged 69.

According to the New York Daily News, the Marin County Sherriff’s Office in northern California confirmed the death early today. Officials did not immediately release a cause of death.
In her life, Afeni campaigned tirelessly to uphold the legacy of her son — who was killed in 1996 — and was a firm supporter of countless anti-violence initiatives.
She was also involved in an advisory role in the upcoming biopic about her iconic offspring
