thatgrapejuice vulkan jason deruloJason Derulo is keeping his dancing feet sliding down the promo trail in support of his new single ‘If It Ain’t Love’ – the first from his yet titled 5th album.

With promo stops covering television, radio, and web in support of the release as well as his return to the judging panel on FOX’s reality dance competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance,‘ JD is leaving few stones unturned in getting the word out about his efforts?

His latest foray? Print – namely talking about his own (catch that).  Taking to Vulkan magazine, see the singer/songwriter strike some fierce poses below and catch highlights from the accompanying feature interview:

On Prince’s death:

I’m somebody who was really intrigued by him early on. His box set was one of the first I ever bought; I wanted to study his falsetto and what that was and how you did it. If you know my music at all you know I use falsetto a lot. He was a big influence on my music and the artist that I am today for sure. [Prince’s death] was shocking to me though. It’s crazy losing all these legends so young.

On new single ‘If It Ain’t Love’:

I wanted to create something that was very up-tempo and different from what’s going on. This time I literally changed the tempo, it’s a very vibey type record and it talks about our misunderstanding of what love is and what it feels like.

On controversial ‘Naked’ video:

Absolutely I was naked! I made it happen. I wanted it to be authentic; I wanted it to be something that signified the song. It wasn’t about chains or jewelry or anything, it was literally about me, the content and what I was [singing] about. That song is more than just being unclothed, naked meaning with nothing else that I can hide behind; It’s literally just me…

Not a fan of his music but I think he’s a lot better looking now than when he debuted in 2009. The part about studying Prince’s falsetto makes sense because even though Jason may not be regarded as a serious vocalist, his falsetto is actually strong and has an impressive ring to it. The photos are cute.
