Tinashe‘s sophomore album may have been titled ‘Joyride’ – yet the journey to its release has been anything but.
The follow-up to her 2014 debut ‘Aquarius’ has been teased since late last Summer. Yet, almost a year on, it’s still missing in action.
To complicate matters, the 23-year-old singer has not only revealed that she feels the album is done, she embarked on and completed an American tour in support of the project – which, of course, is still not out. Muddying the waters even more is the fact that the LP has thus far spawned several songs including ‘Player (ft. Chris Brown)’ and ‘Party Favors.’
In recent months, the rising star has maintained a silence of sorts. However, it’s becoming clear she hasn’t been relaxing. She’s been working with super-producer Timbaland.

The only thing they saw in Tinashe is the fact she was light skinned, good hair, and could kind of dance.
This girl was never destined to dominate the charts; that should factor into her album roll out. She’s not going to amass general interest in the near future. Go ahead and drop her album and let it do what it’s going to do.

I beg to differ Samantha. Her uptempo songs have marketed her as a generic r&B artist with minimal vocal abilities to the general public. By chance I managed to listen to Reverie and lo and behold what a masterpiece. It didn’t have anything like 2on or all hands on deck yet it was her most cohesive effort. Not only is she the next Rihanna, she’s more talented than that girl.

Those who criticize Rih tend to forget what it means to have star quality / power aside from being the most talented singer/dancer. I hope you check out Kelly Rowland’s, Chasing Destiny. That show provides a really good view at what different types of hopefuls you see when scouting talent. Tin is def more artistic and intentional about her music but I wanted say she’s more talented. Refer to early Rihanna when she was a hungry newbie the. Compare that to Tin. There’s a clear and wide difference between the two. No one ever questioned or Rih had the “it” factor. Besides Beyonce and Gag no other current femal singer/dancers give what Rih gives. And if Rihanna decided to dance how she use to, it would be over for many. She has purposely decided to take a rock star route. Tin has good music and sound but I’m thinking her immaturity and her team’s desire to make her something she’s not is messing up her growth. Authenticity is needed. Bc Tin’s personality is so strong at a young age they need to lean towards what’s real for her and build there. She’s no Bey… Actual closer to Rih meets some Aalyiah and Sade. Whatever that would look like in 2016 they need to figure it out. And they need to embrace her girl features. This shot would look better without the heels? Why? Dance like she used too? Rihanna is an awful dancer and awful singer for that matter. All Rihanna is good at is giving good face and rubbing her cl!t on stage.
I agree 100%. She is not Aaliyah or Janet like at all. And Rihanna and Tinashe are very different. Rihanna’s voice might have been annoying at the start but she’s always been influential from the get go and has a great bold brand. Tinashe is Mediocre at best. Very typical musically. selling herself sexually then acting like the girl next door. She also does not wear fashion very well at all. 95% of artists have been writing and recording out of there bedroom since garage band came out so can’t give her that. Not very impressive overall. Being pretty, being able to hold notes and dance is not a sign of stardom.
So anytime I hear timbaland is working with a female singer, I think: where the heck is Keri Hilson?! Anywho, I read an article last month that said rihanna snatched tinashe’s song ‘joyride’ and that’s why there is a delay….

I’m still trying to figure out why y’all never posted anything on Rihanna taking her title track joyride a couple weeks ago….
But I think the label is trying to push that pop, uptempo s*** on her and it’s not clicking with the GP. Tinashe’s core music is so different, it’s like she’s in a lane of her own idk why she just won’t embrace that and push it instead of the POPcorn music. I play Aquarius and Amythest DAILY!
Y’all need to listen to me… I’ve been saying it’s Her music preference/ voice texture/tone and choreo combo that isn’t working. She preferres alternative mid-tempos but her voice is very pop/ even slight rock could work. Like, I could hear 27 year old Tin on 6 inch heels easy. If she does urban pop or contemporary R&B it needs to be song like 2On where her voice isn’t so pronounced. Tin def has the steretypical white girl voice. Megan Trainor has most swag vocally than she does. Speaking of…. It’s blowing me how Megan is the exact opposite of what the industry looks for but is killing it and on point with her ish. She has anthem like songs that kids and young adults can jam to. She’s s*** but not too sexual yet this girl is plus size and not the poster girl for beauty. People can say whatever about this woman but she’s hustling and putting in the EFFORT to create quality records. If you’re not here for Tinashe hen I suggest you let her be and keep it moving. The issue is her label wanted her to record more records and I really think that this album will be worth the wait and people will see how talented and creative Tinashe is as an artist. I’m excited that she’s working with Timbaland because he KNOWS what’s up. I hoped she would work with him and now my reality is true! However some people need to stop doubting her because she’s no different from other artists trying to show their ART. I’ll always have Tinashe’s back and she’s one of the RARE and talented artists out right now. #TeamTinashe

Top of that even when baby girl was here she was venturing out to other producers that complemented her next sound which is called artistic growth which MJ, Janet, Aaliyah, Beyoncé,Rihanna ect. Using the same formula aint gonna cut it unless Tim update his sound while staying true to himself.
By the artist I mentioned they were able to keep themselves current and not sound outdated. They define and made their own trends current while the others followed after them but could never duplicate their work. I believe for a strong fact Aaliyah would still be that woman right beside Beyonce on a universal level.

I’m never been a fan of this idea of Tinashe & Timbaland working with each other but hopefully something cool and different comes out of it.

RCA delayed Tinashe’s album due to the lukewarm singles and Rihanna taking her title track song but that didn’t stop her from FUNDING her own tour and did features for other artists meanwhile other than playing “BENCH” for a record label waiting for them to do something that’s what I admire & STAN about her.

I guess the record company is hoping for him to produce her Promiscuous Girl type of hit, but I don’t see it. The music from Empire is always hit and miss.
