As earlier reported, Kelly Rowland‘s new girlband officially have a name.
The budding divas, who collectively go by June’s Diary, made the announcement today as part of a one-two punch that included the release of their debut single ‘L.A.N.C.E.’
Naturally, attention has turned to the meaning of the name.
Well, wonder no more. The explanation awaits below…
During a live fan chat with BET’s Facebook, the group revealed that they selected the alias last week.
Their reasoning?
Despite being formed in February, “June” represents the time they clicked “spiritually.” It’s also the brightest shining month of the year.
The “Diary,” they say, represents the fact they are writing their story daily and that it theoretically can be ever-lasting.
Cool concept.
Also exciting is the fact that the ladies have teamed with the likes of Harmony Samuels [Ariana Grande’s ‘The Way’], The Stereotypes [Danity Kane’s ‘Damaged’ + ‘Lemonade’], and Dem Jointz [Janet’s ‘BURNITUP!’] for their first album. The as yet untitled LP is due via Epic Records.

Really wish they had a better name. I feel like until they click with a large base they will have to explain the name, meaning like 5H makes sense, because they have 5th numbers and are a vocalist group so no real need to ask, despite it being a lame name too.
Actually June is the brightest month out of the year. You learn that in elementary school. And last time I checked you aren’t in the damn group.
A group name is supposed to be what is significant to the group. That’s all they own. Everything else is out of their hands. From now till they are able to call the shots, Everything else they can’t control. They can’t control how management promotes and sells them. They can’t control how the public perceives them; regardless of how hard they try to project it and they can’t control who their fans are and who will grasp to their music.
These girls found a name that will keep them humble; I believe a name that you have to constantly explain is great for them. It means they won’t every forgot how they started because they are always defining who they are. All these other group names I’ve no story behind; those names are dispensable. This is perfect.

Regardless if it is the brightest month or not, I for one do not recall study that in elementary school as you stated. That being said, not being a Science major and having spent countless years in school post elementary years, 7+, I don’t have the time or use/need to store pointless information in my head.

I dont think the name will stick. I already had to click to refresh my memory cuz i completly forgot what it was called, diary sounds boring & SAFE. Danity kane & Destinys child had a instant click to it that was hard to forget. But like someone said its no worse than little mix or Filth (w).Hormones. i think something more biblical or inspired by anchient greek mythology would stick better. Even Midnight lust would stick better than Junes diarea lol

Midnight Blue or Midnights Winter also came to mind. Delightful’s CRUSH would have gave them the DC initials too. They atleast have a refreshing LOOK tho. Thats very good for packaging. A cpl of them could afford to lose about 20 LBS tho b4 they officially debut. And a lead singer is a must cuz they already sound kinda one dementional vocally. But its hard to escape that they do have potential. Just a little time in the gym & big producers, and save kellyz throwaways for the trash bin they originated from.
‘Chasing destiny’ would have had legal problems & also may be considered too lacking in orginality. MIDNIGHTS CRUSH would have been cute if it didnt remind me so much of Mac Donalds… *Shoots Insulin*

June’s Diary is a good name for this group. I’m concerned about the quality and substance to their records. And the thing is for them to be an r&b group they have to channel their inner self and CONNECT with people. I wish them the best!
Midnight Blue would be perfect i think, atleast for a name that you actually have to explain. Midnight could represent hard work & dedication (which most entertainers according to Frank Gatson dont get much sleep cuz theres always a deadline). Then Blue to represent youth & endless possiblilities as the color Blue represent endless possibilities at the stroke of midnight. If they are ever to crossover to pop they will need both. I honestly dont think even they will keep the name Junes Diarea lol
June’s Diary is solid!!! June can be a girl who empowers other girls or women through her diary aka their albums. I think it’s quite clever. I’ve learned people are quite fickle and don’t really use their imagination when it comes to creativity. Some people will like it some won’t. Everyone has an opinion and u know what momma always said “they are like asshole” everyone has one so don’t let the ones who don’t like make u not cofident about your craft.

If The name Destiny’s Child can become a popular name i guess if the success is right so can Junes Diary, although i’m not keen on the name or the official single.
I heard that Frank Gatson does not like the name for the group. But knowing him. He just cares about a hit, rehearsal and magic. I’m glad Frank and Kelly let them pick the name.. So be it.. Hopefully they remain humble. That is key cause they have the talent. congrats June’s Diary … Frank deal with it LOL

They really need good producers, writers, etc. bc those songs were kinda boring and predictable. I get the whole “we wanna be relatable” but they also need good quality music. If they want to be the best, they have to hit hard and be CREATIVE out of the gate. Really expected more from them.
