As Hip-Hop leads the way for Urban music’s return to radio 2016 has undoubtedly delivered a diverse group of smash hit singles.

One of these cuts, much to the delight of its performers MNEK and Zara Larrson, is ‘Never Forget You‘ which now stands as one of the highest-selling releases of the year…so far.

Where it lands on a list which also includes Drake, Rihanna, Bipolar Sunshine and Future?

Find out below…

When his streaming data and sales are combined Drake’s figure for the first half of the year arrives at the 1.5 billion mark, doing his part to ensure the Universal Music Group dominates this year’s scene on a singles front.

Zara & MNEK‘s ‘You’ stands tall with 92 million streams and 740,000 units sold to its nam as Adele’s ‘Hello’ sits on the lower end of the list with 900,000 units sold by ‘Hello.’

Like Beyonce, who is absent from this list, the singer’s efforts to prioritise albums over singles sees her fare much better on lists which showcase LP sales, as fans often have no reason to purchase individual singles once they’ve already picked up the body of work from which they are pulled from.

“Streaming” is truly starting to dominate the music industry. According to ‘SPOTIFY’, they now have premium users of 500 + million globally.
    .
Furthermore, this year is going to be the FIRST year where a best-selling song in the U.S has yet to surpass sales of ‘2 Million’.
    .
Whether this is for better or for worst, digital sales are dying and other forms of music consumption are being tried.

    .

Anyway, congrats to Rihanna and Drake for having the top two most streamed songs this year so far. 😉

Always bringing the facts boo. Streaming is the future and they will deal. You can definitely see that in how low album sales are this year period.

Hopefully Cheap Thrills will enter the list at the end of the year. The Songwriter just enter the top ten this week. Meanwhile, the other songwriter with her desperate attempt to diss Queen Bey just to get a hit (she has two overall, sings chorus only), is still struggling to find a release date.

mind you Adele’s 25 is nearly 9 x platinum in the US having up to last week sold 8,802,000 and nearly 1.400.000 since the billboard year started and 7.4 million at the end of last calendar year she plays Glastonbury festival this weekend which should help sales at least in UK and Ireland though it could have a small affect in the US as V.H. 1 Classic and Palaidia usually show parts of the festival

  4. LOL June 22, 2016

LOL NOT A SINGLE SONG FROM KOOLAID IN SIGHT, STREAMS OR SALES LMAO.

Adele is the only one with monster success. There´s no more to it. Where are the real album sales for most of the “artists” on taht list? They couldn´t convince people to buy their stuff if their lives depended on it. Drake and Beyonce doing good. The rest…

    • Casual-T June 22, 2016

Adele’s fan base includes older buyers, who are more likely to buy than stream. This is anecdotal, but I went to a bbq for Memorial Day. The person hosting the bbq is in his 70s. He streamed 50s (yeah, the 1950s) music using Pandora through his TV. Youth usually pick up technology first, but this tells me that streaming is now reaching older audiences too.

      • JOHNVIDAL June 22, 2016

Adele appeals to ALL audiences you mean, including older people, not just older people. That´s her success and her talent has universal appeal. Something pretty much any other name on this list doesn´t have. It´s not Adele´s fault if nobody outside some young fans of Rihanna think Rihanna is worth checking in a serious way (meaning a must-buy album). Rihanna and the rest on that list don´t have anuversal appeal, and theer´s not more to it really. That´s why they cannot blow, like Adele. Streams are teh only saving grace this basic generation and current industry could come up with.

  6. La Perra June 22, 2016

Rih and Drake dominating this new digital era.
All hail the queen and king! [based on this chart]

  7. #JACKIE June 22, 2016

Poor Rih hasn’t even sold 500K after 5 months. Not Justin Bieber outselling her……

    • coockiness June 22, 2016

When was the last time Ciara sold 500k of anything. You spend way too much time worrying about rihanna and not enough time buying ur favs s***

  8. HailBeysus June 22, 2016

Doesn’t matter if Bey is missing from this list. Lemonade has been streamed over 400m times in less than 2 months on Tidal alone and is the best SELLING 2016 album release WW dispute Lemonade being the 5th most pirated album out!

  9. Career Ender June 22, 2016

    Poor sales
    .
Why these basic artists failing to sell singles past 2m and 3m ?
    .
Bunch of flops , except Adele
    .
They so dependent on streams is so funny
    .
They will keep getting paid less due to streams
    .
If you aint gettin no money then u aint got nothing for me *Sasha’s voice*

  10. M El June 22, 2016

Congrats Rihanna and Drake.Ant still in top ten after five months and after giving away a million copies free to the fans,go RiRi.Adele sold many, congrats as well.

  11. DIABETIC STROKE June 22, 2016

& what makes 1500 streams a 1 count? Like what math is required??? And why dont they add every other consumption of music including illegal downloading & youtube video views. Only TEA should be a factor not streams, if yur album is free why not stream it on spotify? May as well count beys HBO views and Rihs Anti givaway which would boost their sales by over 1 mill in theory. Its pettey to include anything other than $$$ purchased music… tidal i get but even then only PAID users should be counted. I know its just charting stats but not fair for artist like adele & Bey that dont allow much streaming, not like their album sales would struggle if they did, all music is free if yur even remotely computer savy. BB new rules take the fun out of being #1 off pure sales.

  12. **** June 22, 2016

I’m just curious but how many of the Hive and Navy members on this blog actually go out and buy their faves music instead of downloading on zippyshare?

    • ilovemusic June 22, 2016

I download mine off if kickass torrents..lol but nah I bought a digital and physical copy of both Anti and Lemonade.

  13. coockiness June 22, 2016

Sugar water was all hype… And yall just have to deal. I can’t with yall and ur illiterate fav who did needed a classroom size of writers to write one song. And still be bugged by the usual stealing rumors. She is so unoriginal and faked her marriage problems just to sell albums and a tour.

  14. Barb-wire June 22, 2016

Streams? Lmao, So I guess Anti is not going Gold anytime soon then? #BarbadianFlop

  15. Rihboy June 22, 2016

Yess rih!! Yes daddy drake! Where bey!? Stop making excuses for her. Show her single succes. Rihanna’s album is platinum too! And has been pirated . It’s still at the the top of billboard and is still selling why is miss bey excused? ???? poor things just making excuses for those tired songs.

  16. Barb-wire June 22, 2016

I would love to see the best “SELLING” of 2016 for albums. The kiis I’ll get when I don’t see fRih’s name on the list. I’m sure she’ll still be in the best singles one though, it’s not like the miserable b**** can actually sell anything else.

  17. Selenator *Kills Them With Kindness* June 22, 2016

Look at Selena slaying with her 3rd single Hands to Myself! Congrats to Rihanna too. Streaming is the future, learn to deal with it ladies.

  18. Ty June 22, 2016

Streaming is the future for artists who can’t sell point blank period. The artists that can sell Taylor swift, Adele, Beyonce and drake don’t need to rely on streams so it doesn’t matter!

  19. HeReddish tran ivy blokz Need UK timely Ukuyi June 22, 2016

    Nice

  20. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!!! June 23, 2016

Yes:) lukas graham is the biggest selling single of the year!! Even though it didn’t get to number 1 #joke

    Deserved winner!
