It’s official: the new Usher era is well under way.
After the drop of not one, but two new singles in a week’s time (see: ‘Crash’ and the Young Thug-assisted ‘No Limit’), reports of signing with new management and readying a performance at the 2016 BET Awards indicates to us that the 8-time Grammy winner is going full speed ahead for his new album, ‘Flawed.’
Now, to bring the already hot anticipation for his newest to a boil, the ‘Burn’ singer/songwriter took to France to sit down with Billboard and Ryan Seacrest to discuss what fans can expect from his new album, its supporting tour, and so much more.
See highlights below:
Via Billboard:
Speaking of moments that have been years in the works, you just confirmed the name and upcoming release of your next album, Flawed. Do you have a date in mind for that yet?
U: You know, I like to release music the way I feel it, as opposed to having a date. The idea of dates, boxes, categories are very scary for me.
Regardless of timing, what inspired you to call it Flawed?
U: I find the inspiration every time I find a word: what is ‘flawed?’ It’s something that is not perfect. It’s a future relic of some sorts, to grow and blossom and gain texture…
Usher, you’ve got Hands of Stone coming in August. Is touring again a priority as well?
U: Touring is definitely on the horizon. I mean, obviously: single, video, album and tour. But this time around, I’m doing things a little bit different. I don’t know if you’ve seen the picture of a piece of art from a collaboration between myself and this artist Daniel Arsham. An interest in art and artist affiliation in something I’m very interested in and is very new to me.
…there’s been reports that you’ve officially joined the Scooter Braun management family, after many years of collaborating together on Bieber’s career and other projects. Is that something you can confirm?
U: I’ve always been in the Scooter family. We actually have worked together on artists, and worked together in business, so it’s just a continuum.

I wanna see him win but i know i won’t. sigh R&B is long gone
He has been in music for 20 years and is still relevant. How is he not winning?
sales wise he hasn’t. looking for myself sold only 504k in the us
You all kill me with these sales. All the artist that are killing it sales wise today are very few. Drake, Adele and Taylor Swift. And before Beyonce’s latest albums she barley did that great. No one is buying music as a full album anymore. If you compare success to sales; majority aren’t winning. I think success is based off longevity. Will your fav still be here in 10 years?
Would you say the same thing if it were beyonce selling only 504k. Sure longevity plays a role but to just completely get rid of sales doesn’t make sense. Especially in Ushers case being in the game 20 YEARS you shouldn’t be doing those numbers.
Imo, anybody that reaches gold status (and not worldwide) AFTER 20 years is pretty outstanding! Also Bey selling 1.5+ million units (with ‘4’) isn’t barely scanning gold! I do agree longevity is a huge part of success, but sales is a form of it also.
Correction “Usher sheds light on new album, ‘Flawed’ & Tour.” Your headline either sounds like shade or you just didn’t see how it could sound negative.
Lmao y’all changed the headline
I am not sure if there is a market for his music anymore. Usher has to reintroduce himself to this generation because they could care less about him.
He already did that with OMG, DJ Got Us Fallin In Love, and I Don’t Mind. They know him
LOLOL! He is fighting Christina Aguilera to see who can take the longest to drop an album! That song with Young Thug was trash but Crash is excellent and picking up on radio. He needs to PUSH it though
kii lifealert spears is over betta catch that retirement tour ticket fast those are selling like hotcakes kiiii
Nice
Cute interview. I do like that Usher is invited to give talks and stuff like that because it shows he’s more than just a Pop star. He’s actually quite articulate and has so much knowledge and insight to share. He looks really good too. With that being said, I just want a cohesive, mature album from him (that song with Young Thug is hella trash though, lol).
I consider Usher one of the artists from the 90’s that’s truly capable of making a comeback! … and I’m not even big on Usher! Will that happen one day? That remains to be seen. Still, you just can’t ignore the fact that he’s still in fighting form.
lol.
usher said its still not sure that his new album will be called FLAWED or not. “Usher: for now its flawed but cant say anything for the future”.
Naming it Flawed just a way of making the critics not give it the terrible reviews it deserves. Critic Score 59 awaits us… 65 at best.
I said after “Looking For Myself” flopped Usher would be too afraid to release another album. I have been right so far.
