The One Direction star achieved global success with multi-format smash ‘Pillowtalk,’ but has established a reputation of sorts for being promo shy.

I know its probably difficult for him to perform alone, since he’s always had the 4 other members with him on stage. Anxiety is REAL. I can barely piece together a sentence in front a class of 30 people so imagine for him performing in front thousands. Hope he gets better.

Some artist doesn’t have what it takes to be a star. Or can’t handle the fame and pressure. Justin WILL have his Britney saga this or next year, Chris Brown will prob be killed, by someone or by himself, Zayn will just give up music all together. I dont think any of the people calling him weak or saying he doesnt have what it takes have ever had anxiety. Its not something you can just fix and its over, its something that you have your whole life. Sometimes things arent so bad, but it always comes back. I admire his honesty and even if he never performs again, I think he can be a star. A TON of celebs have anxiety, so google it. I would also encourage you to research disorders like anxiety before you speak (so you dont look so stupid).
anxiety or not, he knew what he was doing when he went solo. lol not saying he isn’t fighting a rough fight, but you don’t just develop anxiety over night. these labels shouldn’t be rushing everybody that has a cute face to front stage. They have quite a few artist signed to his label that wouldn’t have canceled. Artist development is key.

Anxiety is not a joke! It’s clear to anyone that Zayn has difficulty performing alone, as through out his time as a Global superstar he has had 4 other guys with him, TGJ should no better than to be so judgemental, his a brilliant artist but this is a lot to take in for someone so young who is n;t used to being in the spotlight alone, I hope his team take this seriously and let him do things at his own pace instead of pushing him out there

Artist usually skip out on a few tracks that the label make them put on their record but to abandon your FULL album because basically you can’t sing live…you should’ve stayed back up. Yes. This post is cold. Until you’ve dealt with the crippling effects of anxiety disorder than keep your snarky comments to yourself. It’s debilitating and embarrassing for sufferers and it pretty much like you’re going to die. You feel isolated from everyone because of the shame. It’s something you work through. It just doesn’t up and disappears. I hope he gets better. My heart goes out to him.

At least he was honest about his reason for cancelling, but it’s extremely ironic that he quit an extremely popular group to go solo, only to end up running scared of having all of the limelight to himself.

I empathise with whatever he’s going through because I too have had moments of panic when I’ve had to speak in public. However, this latest cancellation only confirms my earlier notion that he simply isn’t prepared for the rigours of being a solo artist. Had his team held him back for a year so he could live life normally (this is what he said was his intention when he announced his split from 1D), they would’ve recognised his issue with anxiety sought out to deal with it. Zayn has the potential to be a great pop star: he’s incredible to look at, is a talented vocalist and his material is solid but his crippling shyness is really holding him back. Sucks he had to do this on home soil too. The British press is going to have his head.

I absolutely agree with you TGJ. Many people have anxiety, I do personally myself to some degree. But if you want to be a solo artist and choose that life as a career path, you should work thru your anxiety before you decide to become a celebrity or public figure. Imagine if Obama or another very public person was said to give a speech and then last minute released a statement and said my anxiety took over I hope you understand.

Clearly was searching/pushed for solo stardom before it was his time. I know Anxiety is real but when you get on stage you have to be able to let it all go. Hopefully he gets his confidence up.
