With Tinashe‘s new single ‘SuperLove’ slowly making waves, the rising R&B star is upping her visibility.

The latest slot snagged saw her perform the US National Anthem at the Dodger’ Stadium last night.

It’s not the first time the stage scorcher has tackled the song, having previously offered a rendition at the same venue last year.

How did she fare this go round, though? Watch below and let us know…

Sure, it wasn’t Whitney or Mariah and it definitely isn’t anything folk have just been burning to hear, but it also wasn’t “bad”.

Still, we’d much prefer to see Tinashe performing her own material sooner rather than later. There may not be long to wait either; for, at the same game, she confirmed that the ‘SuperLove’ video is due this week. Hopefully meaning that live showings are on their way too.

      DEADT!*

    • Jamon August 8, 2016

It was better than Ciara’s and he gave her props. It wouldn’t be a “Sam” post without his bias and unprofessional opnion!!

      • TurkeyNoodleSavage August 8, 2016

Someone always has to bring up Ciara’s name … smh

  3. SipTheTruth August 8, 2016

What is her label doing to her career? Aqarius was a gem and now there’s no direction

This is part of the reason she isn’t taking off as quickly. She isn’t a vocalist but doesn’t sound absolutely bad either. It her vocal style and approach. The more she does ballards and performances like this the more she makes her self some unfitting for R&B and urban pop. She sound like… Iono lol that’s been a huge disconnect for me. She needs vocal training on how to performance more R&B stylistic vocals Bc it doesn’t sound authentic. And because she has the overall performer potential she can afford to stay away from vocal focused performances. It does nothing for her. Nothing. It actually hurts

      SCREAMING!

Lol oooo… You’re making me feel bad. Lol we gotta chill.

    • GirlGroupFan August 8, 2016

LOL! I feel you! I really, really do.

“She sound like… Iono” – I’ll finish your sentence.

      She sound like…shaky as hell.

She sound like…she grew up in Beverly Hills but wanna be down.

She sound like…Shania Twain in this performance.

She sound like…just okay. An average white girl, vocally.

      • A&R August 8, 2016

yo…. Bc I was being mindful of my thoughts I didn’t want to mention stereotypes but no lie, this is exactly what I thought. She sounds like the steretypical young white girl but she acts like she wants to be down or identify with the hood or urban culture. But it seems fake, man.

Tinashe has got a demo voice and nothing else really to back it up. She dances okay, she looks okay and she could be any girl… okay!
She had a “hit” that off she had capitalised on could’ve been in a totally different place now but she didn’t. She’s the kind of artist that needs to release an album every year and she’s left it too late

    • A&R August 8, 2016

Oddly, I think she has enough natural artistic and creative instinct to do better than this but for whatever reason, her team is trying to mold her into the next urban pop star and it’s clear that’s not what comes natural. Although her hit was “2on” Tinashe seems most at home on songs like Bated Breath and a Party Favors. Although she may not be able to reach super stardom with songs like that, she could def live in the fam with FK Twigs. No one really cares if those type of artist have vocal range and acrobats. Our attention goes to their style, messages, lyrics, and the feeling of their songs. Tinashe doesn’t need to sing anybody’s national anthem ever again.

      Wow “looks okay?”

Most young guys be like “if I ever get in that p**** I’m never coming out!”

“I would plow Tinashe, all day eryday, 24/7. 11/10!”

      Lol

RCA is playing with that promo.. Riri and Bey have released albums now I need Tee to bring fourth the magic she is capable of releasing..

  7. jec2 August 8, 2016

Tinashe is next to basic in the dictionary. The queen of bland. Beautiful girl. Unique look, but it’s a no go.

  8. Tim Brown August 8, 2016

She has a pop voice, trying to sing urban records….its like Britney Spears singing r&b…no-go

    • A&R August 8, 2016

When I texted Iono the family of B. Spears like singers came to mind.lol You hit it right on the nail’s head! Lol no go for real.

    • Slayriah Carey/Nicole Slaysinger >>> your fave August 8, 2016

I’ve always said she’s the r&b version of s******. But Ciara is already the black s******, that’s already been established. Tinashe’s voice is just too weak and maybe it would sound better if she stopped smoking.

BTW, if you haven’t heard, now s****** is trying to sing urban-ish records, yikes! S******’s nasally voice on urban records is not something I like to hear! If somebody else sang make me… it might not actually suck so bad.

In my opinion, performances like this is part of the reason she isn’t taking off as quickly. From my ear she’s not a vocalist but doesn’t sound absolutely bad either. I think it’s her vocal style and approach that I dislike. The more she does ballards and performances were we can hone in on her voice the more she makes her self seem unfitting for R&B and urban pop. She sounds like… Iono lol and that’s been a huge disconnect for me. She needs vocal training on how to perform more R&B stylistic vocals bc when she attempts the R&B and urban pop songs it doesn’t sound authentic. And because she has the overall *performer* potential, she can afford to stay away from vocal focused performances. Her biggest inspiration, Janet Jackson and her team understood this. Doing ballads don’t help her. It actually hurts her. This performance took her down, in my eyes, 3 notches. Smh and I support her.

    Excuse my previous typos lol

I hate to mention their names but….I really think the coming of Beyoncé and Rihanna has flipped the game. Prior to Beyonce the most talented vocalist and stage blazers lived separate. You either got a very talent dancer / stage performer with ok vocals: Janet Jackson…Paula Abdul.. and sadly, even though he could sing better than displayed, MJ relaxed his vocals to give more attention to his stage performance. Then you had your monster singers: Aretha, Whitney, Mariah and so on that stood still and wowed you with just their voices. Beyonce is the trailblazer for vocalist meets top of the line stage performer. This woman his risen the bar and now ppl like us find it hard to just accept an ok vocalist..especially when they do things to reveal that they can’t really sing.

Rihanna flipped the script Bc although baby girl isn’t the best vocalist she can at least sing, has a ODDLY unique vocal tone that will etch her into the history books, and she has this really cool trait of being awesomely authentic. She has always been able to be real with where she was while feeling her way through to finding her style. Even when Rih was being groomed to be the next Bey, she always managed to put her personal spin to it. That’s truly a gift. Her personality is so strong that they couldn’t contain her. Tinashe seems to lack the authenticity and don’t have amazing vocals. It’s not looking good, fam. If Sevyn Streeter gets her act together or some other new face… Tin, yeah… Iono my gee.

  11. Coolness August 8, 2016

Cute. Tinashe possesses a lil’ more power, range and technical ability than your average airy-voiced performer (see Britney Spears, Ciara even Jhene Aiko). However, this was not one of her better showings of the Star Spangler Banner. Aquarius was one of the strongest R&B debuts in a while and it just flew under the radar after 2 On came and went as a hit. I wish her team would market her properly.

  12. FC/JC August 8, 2016

…… Her team has no idea how to market her, This is apparent

  13. Slayriah Carey/Nicole Slaysinger >>> your fave August 8, 2016

Haven’t heard it yet, but I can already bet that it will be better than taylor swift, ciara, rihanna, and ashanti.

  14. Slayriah Carey/Nicole Slaysinger >>> your fave August 8, 2016

Her voice is just too small for a song like this, she should stick to singing her “i’m bouncin’ on it, i’m bouncin’ on it, I’m bouncin’ on it, I banana all in your split” type of stuff. Lol! No shade!

  15. Slayriah Carey/Nicole Slaysinger >>> your fave August 8, 2016

Wow TGJ, this title is so misleading! I wouldn’t exactly say “belts!”
