From the single to the album cover (and now to this video), it’s clear Gaga is going for a ‘stripped’ era. Less “gimmick,” more meat (no pun intended).
We’re not knocking her for it as every artist has the right to risks, but it’s a very tricky tightrope to walk when one has made an entire career of being “extra” and eccentric. But, for as disappointingly uneventful as this video was, we were undoubtedly hoping the singer would balance her newfound demureness with some semblance of old Mother Monster.
Here’s hoping fans greet this Gaga with open arms and help hoist the tune into the top 10. For, we’ll be the first to admit, the song really is a bop after a few good spins.

My thoughts exactly, Gaga is a very talented musician but she doesn’t have an ounce of originality, everything is recycled, as an artist she’s just a character.
It’s clearly now that she has been watching documentaries about Metalheads, what i think is funny is that even though the song has a Rock vibe to it, the video still look like they’re jumping to an Iron Maiden song instead of “Perfect Illusion”, the song just don’t fit with the video.

I like it! lol So many people are so passionately against it, which is always so weird to me. No, the replay value is not there, but the song is a good pop song and if radio gets behind it and plays it enough people will end up liking it.
Sad thing is that radio has probably already decided they won´t ever support her again, same they do with so many others (well, with everybody once they get to a certain age definitely). So the song or upcoming singles won´t be pushed down people´s throats until they like it (which is the case of many singles artists out there and many of their releases). But if they did this song or almost any other could be as successful as any of the songs at the top of the hot 100.
I said it the other day: it was clear she is totally going for the simple approach and that the video looked like it was going to be too.
I think they are aware that the people who hate her and want to see her fail at any cost are going to wait for every single release of hers (even if she waits years, which is sad, like people cannot grow up or something) and bring her and it down (when it comes to commercial chart success, cause talent cannot be brought down). Xtina could never recover from that for example. So they or she have decided this year that she´s going to release whatever she feels like releasing and if it flops then it flops and if it strangely becomes a success and some type of Gaga´s back to fine form commercially wise then phenomenal, but like they are not counting on it. Not to mention that way of thinking must be very pleasant compared to being all the time so stressed about commercial success. I think she has realized these last two years she´ll have a career regardless of these pop releases and will keep getting booked and appreciated and that she´ll always be able to release other type of albums or whatever stuff. She has already proved it.
