A blast from the not too distant past has given Bruno Mars‘ comeback a potent power-up.
Indeed, congratulations are in order because the crooner, who is currently plugging the title track of new album ’24k Magic,’ has scored a huge touchdown.
And it all centres on 2014’s mega-smash ‘Uptown Funk,’ which has just reached a major milestone.
Details after the jump…
According to the RIAA, the Mark Ronson production has been certified Diamond for US sales in excess of 10 million. It’s only the second song ever (in the Soundscan era) to reach such status).
Per the awarding body, the track actually sits at 11 million:

************
In an era where streaming rules the roost and sales (both of the singles and album persuasion) are on the wane, this is huge.
Armed with the success of ‘Funk,’ all eyes will now be on whether ’24k Magic’ (due Nov. 18th) can yield a like-sized hit.
Bruno was the man for this joint and it deserves this certification. His success is very deserving for this track and countless others…He came a long way from that track with B.O.B. I never expected all he’s done.
Wow a positive comment on TGJ with no shade? It’s lit.
tHE SONG WASN’T EVEN THAT GOOD BUT CONGRATS BRUNO AND MARK

This site so useless at times. Why is it so hard for you to report the facts accordingly?
.
“Uptown Funk” has NOT sold “10M + copies” in the U.S.A, the highest selling songs in America of the digital age stand at 8M + – “I Gotta Feeling; Party Rock Anthem & Rolling In the Deep”. “Uptown Funk” is at 6.9M U.S sales thus this diamond certification includes SPS.
.
There are also several other songs eligible for a diamond certification in the U.S: Rihanna’s “We Found Love” & “Disturbia” which are at 9x platinum and 8x platinum certifications as of 2016. Also, Katy Perry’s “ROAR”; Taylor Swifts “Shake It Off” and several more etc. Even Adele’s “Hello” is eligible for a diamond certification. It’s sold 5 Million copies in the USA and almost 3 million in SPS.
Girl you know his site copies and pastes without going over the facts with a fine tooth comb
How bout Single Ladies? It sold over 5 Mil. I think it has more streams than Poker Face, right? And Halo is a streaming monster too. As both songs has more views on YouTube and maybe streams? I don’t know what’s the exact number of streams.
LMAO WILL BASICYONCE EVER? NOPE LMAO.
KING!
This is why I´m soooo surprised that his new lead single for his 3rd album is not absolutely killing it like this single did or Locked out of Heaven did. Like it lasted less time at itunes #1 than Perfect Illusion. With the difference Bruno is in this sweet moment of her career commercially wise right now. Truly surprised. No shade or anything cause he is one of the real artists in mainstream (even though the song is a little disappointing).
Slay Bruno, But plz dont copy and paste this sound and recycle it into your album…. I may have to check out.
gratz to him.
Good for him
